The Rifqa Bary Case Continutes: Lawyer Presents Evidence

Rifqa Bary's lawyer just presented documents detailing Rifqa's own statement and the ties of her parents' mosque to terrorism. (The documents can be read here.)

Here's an excerpt from Rifqa's statement:

15. I became a Christian on Friday, November 18, 2005 at the Korean United Methodist Church in Columbus, Ohio;

16. I hid my Christian faith from my parents as best as I could and had to sneak around to attend Christian campus meetings. I also hid my Bible at home in various locations;

17. In about 2007 my father discovered a copy of a book entitled the "Purpose Driven Life" by Rick Warren that I hid in my bedroom. My father had a serious talk with me about the importance of retaining the Islamic blood line in my family but I did not tell him about my conversion;

18. In June of 2009 my father confronted me with several questions about whether I had become a Christian, whether I was baptized, ifl was going to a church. Out of fear I remained silent;

19. Then my father told me that he received numerous e-mails and phone calls from the leaders of the Noor Center community who informed him that he needed to deal with this matter immediately;

20. In a fit of anger that I had never seen before in my life, he picked up my lap top, waived it over my head as if to strike me with it and said "If you have this Jesus in your heart, you are dead to me! You are no longer my daughter." I continued to remain silent and then he said to me even more angry than before, "I will kill you! Tell me the truth!"

21. On July 17, 2009, my mother confronted me about another Christian book she discovered that I had hid in my bedroom. She had just spoken with my father was on the phone who was out of town. She was very upset, in tears, and almost grieving and told me I was going to have to be sent back to Sri Lanka to be dealt with.

So what's the reaction when Palestinians kill Palestinians?

I must say at the outset, murder is horrible and an offense to God, no matter who does it or who gets it. But when it comes to Palestinians, there seems to be outrage that far surpasses the slaughter of other innocents. I have pondered the implications of this phenomenon for some time now, and now I have more to ponder.

What are the implications of this fact: when Palestinians kill Palestinians, there seems to be no outrage whatsoever. I've not concluded that this is a double standard, but it certainly seems to be. What do you guys think?

On August 15th Hamas militiamen attacked a Mosque in Rafah in the Gaza Strip. Inside were extremists from the Jund Ansar Allah group (JAA). JAA were so extreme they viewed Hamas almost as liberals.

They had declared Gaza an Islamic state and challenged Hamas to enter the Mosque. 'No problem' said Hamas.

In the assault Hamas desecrated holy ground, firing rocket and after rocket at the Mosque, some hit surrounding houses. It would be reasonable to assume that at least one Holy Koran may have been damaged.

After they took the building they rounded up the survivors. Mobile phone footage shows what appears to be Hamas men 'executing' some of them.

It is not hard evidence, but local reporters say that is what happened, and the footage is certainly of the aftermath of the attack. Audio material has Hamas commanders ordering the killings.

Osama Abdallah Defines Situations Where Men Should Beat Their Wives

Now we're getting somewhere. Everyone knows that Islam allows wife-beating. The difficulty that arises is determining when wives should be beaten and to what extent they should be beaten by their Muslim husbands. Muslim apologist Osama Abdallah has attempted to deal with this difficult topic for us. Osama writes:

There are several reasons why a man NOT ONLY SHOULD BEAT HIS WIFE, but beat the day lights out of her as well! Here are some of them:

Note: I personally love my wife very dearly, and appreciate her infinite patience and sacrifice with me and my Islamic activities. She is BY FAR not a woman that would fit in the following category, because she is an honorable woman:

1- In the days of swords and tribal societies, the man's honor is his wife. If the woman is loose and flirty, then she could cause for her husband to end up in a mortal combat with another individual, by the sword, or for her entire family or even tribe to go to war with another. So women can be disasterous if they choose to.

DAVID AND BETHSHEBA, AND THE DISASTER:

You know the story of David and Bethsheba in the Bible. You know that she could've stopped that animal from causing for her husband to get killed. But because she was a whore, she allowed herself to sleep with another man while she was married. If she didn't like her husband, then she should've divorced herself from him first, and then went off to play with someone else. She would still be a whore anyway, along with him, but she would not have caused for her husband to get killed by David's conspiracy. A GREAT EXAMPLE THAT PROVES THAT WOMEN'S SNARES ARE QUITE DANGEROUS. If Bethsheba was my sister, then believe me, all of her brothers, including myself would skin her alive along with her boyfriend.

2- The woman is the mother, sister, and daughter. But most importantly, she is the mother of the children, and if she is not responsible enough to care for the house and the children, especially in the old days, then she could bring catastrophe for the entire family. On average, the father is usually busy working all day to bring money and food. The mother, on the other hand, has the responsibility to care for the children and to raise the sons and daughters right. If your son is constantly in the streets, then he could GET KIDNAPPED, RAPED, KILLED, or end up with the wrong group. YOUR DAUGHTER could also end up getting pregnant or raped. The bottom line is that the mother is everything! If she is irresponsible and careless, then her offsprings will be in great danger, especially if the father is always out working.

3- The woman who has a filthy mouth and always defies her husband, especially when he is a good and reasonable person, can and will bring harm upon herself, because let's face it: Men are, on average, 5 to 10 times stronger than women. A wise woman would not want to enter into a physical confrontation with her man, especially during the old days, where men were extremely big on honor and pride. A woman challenging his dignity could end up getting hurt very very bad.

These points, by the way, go for all religions, and not just Islam. You have to leave your current mentality of where you have no problem with your sister having a boyfriend and losing her virginity, to the mentality of the honor, pride, dignity, and tribal ruling, and male dominance.

AGAIN, PLEASE KNOW THAT I LOVE MY WIFE, and I am certain that none of my points above would apply to any honorable woman who cares for her children and husband.

Also, I personally agree that many men out there DESERVE TO BE PUNISHED SEVERELY! It is not always the woman's fault.

So there you have it.

(1) If a woman is loose and flirty, she should be beaten (or "have the daylights beaten out of her," or be "skinned alive"). Note: Osama's comments on David and Bathsheba are quite interesting. Christians typically place all or nearly all of the blame on David (as I would), while Osama's finger is pointed primarily at Bathsheba.

(2) If a woman isn't taking care of her children properly, she should be beaten (or "have the daylights beaten out of her").

(3) If a woman uses bad language, especially of her husband (when he doesn't deserve it), she should be beaten (or "have the daylights beaten out of her").

These are Osama's claims, and I am convinced that he is explaining the Muslim view quite accurately.

Lockerbie Bomber Abdel Baset al-Megrahi Receives Hero's Welcome in Libya

The only man convicted of killing 270 innocent people (most of them Americans) in the bombing of Pan Am Flight 103 has been released after serving eight years of his sentence. Since he is dying of cancer, Scottish courts decided to return al-Megrahi to Libya, where he received a hero's welcome.

Did anyone notice all the Muslim protestors who were booing al-Megrahi, condemning terrorist attacks, and shouting that Islam is a religion of peace? Neither did I.

Fathima Rifqa Bary Hearing Today

Rifqa Bary's first Court Hearing is today. A radio station is posting live updates, which I will post here. It sounds as if another hearing is scheduled for September 3rd.

Rifqa walked in after her parents sat down with their attorney Craig McCarthy at one table.

She is seated at another, but facing her mother, who is wearing a scarf and wiping her eyes with a tissue.

Rifqa wants to make a statement before the hearing begins.

The attorneys are huddling before the judge for a decision on whether he will allow that.

UPDATE: Judge Dawson has decided to let her speak, saying it his policy to let anyone speak in open court.

This case is about jurisdiction, whether she can stay in the care of the Florida Department of Children and Families, or whether she has to be turned over to Ohio authorities.

A representative from DCF has told the court that the Florida Department of Law Enforcement has agreed to investigate the matter, because DCF fears she is in danger.

An attorney for Rifqa's parents said Ohio has investigated this matter and if there's any question about her safety, then Ohio is the place for that to be determined.

"There is no basis," the attorney said, for her to stay in Florida since her life is in Ohio.

McCarthy said it would "enormous prejudice" to try this matter in Florida.

A legal representative for Rifqa says since Ohio has no prior legal proceeding in this case, then Florida can claim jurisdiction.

Staying in Florida, her legal team argues, would keep her safe.

Judge Dawson said he has had no contact with Ohio courts, so he doesn't know if Ohio wants jurisdiction in this case.

"Rifqa wants to be here," said one of her lawyers.

He told he court the teen's safety would be compromised back in Ohio, referring to some 'terrorist activity' in the region where she lived. He did not elaborate.

UPDATE: Rifqa is sitting with her attorneys, reading a book that she brought in. She glances at the judge and her legal team, but not her parents.

Judge Dawson says "at first blush" it appears his court has jurisdiction in this custody matter, since no Ohio court has taken up the matter.

Attorneys for the parents are citing a ruling that Judge Dawson could request an Ohio court to initiate a hearing, but Dawson said he didn't feel that was the case, although he appears willing to make contact.

update: A hearing is set for September 3rd at 2:30 p.m.

A dependency petition will be argued at that time.

The judge says he's inclined to refer this matter to mediation and keep this matter in his court.

Update: Rifqa is making her statement to the court. "I've been a christian for 4 years of my life. I love my parents but I am in fear of my life because of the past abuse. I assure your honor Jesus Christ is my Lord and Savior. I am a Christian, a believer."

Her mother cried, "I need my daughter back."

He father said "I love my daighter, I have no problem in her practicing another religion."

She is free to come and practice what she likes in my home," he said.

Rifqa will spend some time with her younger brothers, but does not want to meet with her parents at this time.
The court will allow it.

update: Rifqa is staying in a foster home. Her foster parents are not willing to allow supervised visitation of Rifqa's family or friends right now. The judge is recommending DCF take charge of the issue and hold these meetings in an outside location where it can be videotaped.

Judge Dawson asked if Rifqa is a legal immigrant. She was born in Sri Lanka. Her attorneys say they are trying to determine that and need the parents' cooperation.

Her father, Mohammed, said she arrived in the U.S. on a visa. Since she has turned 17, her legal status is in question.

Rifqa will be home schooled in her foster home. She attended high school back in Ohio where she was a cheerleader.

Rifqa Bary Converts and Exposes Islam--Muslim Retaliation Begins

When the video of Fathima Rifqa Bary first came out, I predicted that Muslims would try to spin her conversion as the rebellion of a young girl against her parents. I didn't know Muslims would go this far.

Anyone who follows news of Christian persecution in Pakistan knows about Christian girls being raped and forced to convert, about churches being burned, about families being slaughtered. Do we expect Muslims to remain silent when a Muslim girl converts to Christianity and exposes Islam? Check out the spin Muslim newspapers are putting on this:

PAKISTAN DAILY--"Pregnant Minor Lanka girl kidnapped by Ohio Christian Church–brainwashed against parents–forcibly converted."

A very disconcerting video is being shown by the Christan church. A minor Sri Lankan girl belonging to well to do parents has been kidnapped by a church in Ohio and being kept away from the legal guardians and parents of the girl. The family maintains that the girls was into drugs, promiscuous behaviour and raunchy messages on facebook. She was discussing sex with multiple older married men. When the parents tried to control her behaviour she refused to do so. On her return to the home she conjured up a story of conversion to Christianity. There are serious accusations against the church on holding a minor girl in custody against the will of her guardians and parents. How many more girls will the church kidnap? Read More.

Now what's going to happen in response? I predict that many young Christian girls in Pakistan will be kidnapped and raped. The message of Islam has been clear from the beginning: "If you expose us in any way, you will suffer horribly."

Submit Sexually or Starve!

When are Muslim lawmakers going to realize that Islam promotes women's rights (so long as we throw out numerous passages in the Qur'an, the Hadith, and the Tafsir and Sira literature)?

AUGUST 14, THE GUARDIAN--Afghanistan has quietly passed a law permitting Shia men to deny their wives food and sustenance if they refuse to obey their husbands' sexual demands, despite international outrage over an earlier version of the legislation which President Hamid Karzai had promised to review.

The new final draft of the legislation also grants guardianship of children exclusively to their fathers and grandfathers, and requires women to get permission from their husbands to work.

"It also effectively allows a rapist to avoid prosecution by paying 'blood money' to a girl who was injured when he raped her," the US charity Human Rights Watch said.

In early April, Barack Obama and Gordon Brown joined an international chorus of condemnation when the Guardian revealed that the earlier version of the law legalised rape within marriage, according to the UN.

Although Karzai appeared to back down, activists say the revised version of the law still contains repressive measures and contradicts the Afghan constitution and international treaties signed by the country. Read More.

Woman Terrified that Her Husband Will Take Her Children if She Embraces Christ

Irenaeus just sent this link in. As Fifth Monarchy Man noted in the comments section of our last post, does anyone see the difference between Muslims who convert to Christianity and Christians who convert to Islam? Brittany converted in our nation's capital to the applause of many (though Christians were in attendance). Will she be persecuted? No. Will her life be threatened? No. Will she lose anything? Hardly.

Compare this with Mrs. Sana and Fathima. Mrs. Sana was terrified of converting, because her husband might take her children from her. Fathima had to keep her conversion a secret, so that her family wouldn't murder her.

I wonder . . . If Muslims took away the threats, the manipulation, the terror, how many men and women would leave Islam instantly? And if Islam can only retain its hold through threats, manipulation, and terror, what does this say about Islam?

It's interesting that many liberals in the West believe she should be returned to her parents. "Silly girl," they think. "She doesn't understand Islam. No one will hurt her if she goes home." But Fathima knows better.

Recently, a major time slot opened up over at WMCA, the main Christian network in the New York area. Nabeel and I have been asked if we'd like to do a radio show on Christian/Muslim topics. There's no way we can hope to afford a weekly show, but we're thinking of starting a monthly show. The goal would be to eventually have Christian businesses sponsor a weekly program (in exchange for advertising). For now, we'd be happy getting our foot in the door with one program per month. However, without a sponsor, the price tag is way too high for us ($600 per broadcast). We're wondering how many people would be willing to contribute monthly until we get a sponsor. If we've got enough people behind us, we're going to sign the contract and record our first show.

The show would appear at 4:00 P.M., right before "Focus on the Family," and would reach people in all five boroughs of New York City, as well as much of New Jersey and Connecticut, and so a ton of people driving home from work would hear a lot about Islam that they wouldn't hear otherwise. Of course, anyone in the world can listen to the show via live-streaming, and we'll put MP3s here on the blog. Here's a list of the current line up. While most of the feedback we've gotten has been positive, there have been plenty of attacks against us.
