Omar Mateen's Ramadan Massacre at an Orlando Gay Bar

Omar Mateen
Early in the morning on June 12th, 2016, American Muslim Omar Mir Seddique Mateen opened fire at "The Pulse," a gay nightclub in Orlando, Florida. Mateen killed around 50 people and injured dozens more while shouting “Allahu Akbar!” During the attack, he called 911 to declare his allegiance to ISIS.

One of Mateen's former co-workers said that he regularly spouted hate-filled, racist, and misogynistic words, but wasn't fired because he was a Muslim. Mateen had ties to radical imam Marcus Dwayne Robertson and to other Islamic fundamentalists.

So, did this shooting have something to do with Islam?

Jihad Comes to Philadelphia

Edward Archer recently ambushed Officer Jesse Hartnett. After being apprehended, Archer proclaimed his allegiance to ISIS and his desire to promote sharia through jihad. Yet Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney insists that the attack had nothing to do with Islam. Can we take the mayor's comments seriously?

Mississippi: Muslim Newlyweds Jaelyn Delshaun Young and Muhammad Oda Dakhlalla Arrested for Attempting to Join ISIS

Jaelyn Delshaun Young was a sophomore studying chemistry at Mississippi State University. However, after converting to Islam, she hatched a plot to join ISIS by marrying another Muslim student and posing as honeymooners. Her new husband, Muhammad Oda Dakhlalla, has a degree in psychology and was about to start graduate school.

How many more young people have to throw away their lives before we can have an honest discussion about Islam? Will politicians and the media continue to assure us that jihad is the result of joblessness and illiteracy when so many jihadists are highly educated young people with bright futures and loving families?
Jaelyn Delshaun Young and Muhammad Oda Dakhlalla
JACKSON, Mississippi - The would-be blushing bride and groom sat in a Mississippi courtroom Tuesday, side-by-side, facing charges that they tried to join the world's most notorious terrorist organization.

Criminal charges filed Saturday say Jaelyn Delshaun Young, 20, and Muhammad Oda Dakhlalla, 22, were arrested that morning at a regional airport near Columbus, Mississippi, allegedly on their way to join jihad.

Officials say the couple were trying to travel to Syria to join the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS.) And they claim it was the 19-year-old Young who was the mastermind behind the plot to do so, which involved getting married and pretending to be on a honeymoon to get there, reports CBS affiliate WJTV in Jackson.

Both are officially charged with attempting and conspiring to provide material support to a terrorist group. An affidavit by an FBI agent says both confessed their plans after their arrest.

At a second hearing Tuesday in the case in Federal Court in Oxford before U.S. Magistrate Judge S. Allan Alexander, it was unveiled that on social media sites, Young expressed her happiness about the recent shooting in Chattanooga where five service members were killed, reports WJTV.

Judge Alexander Tdenied bail, saying that even though the pair have never been in trouble with the law and have relatives willing to oversee their home confinement, their desire commit terrorism is "probably still there."

Urging the court to keep the suspects in custody, Assistant U.S. Attorney Clay Joyner likened them to Boston Marathon bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, saying that like him, they could commit violence with knives, vehicles or homemade weapons.

"They don't need a gun to do harm," Joyner said. "They don't need military training to do harm. What they need is a violent, extremist ideology, and that's exactly what they have espoused." (Continue Reading.)

Harlem Suarez (aka Almlak Benitez) Arrested for Plot to Bomb Key West Beach

Harlem Suarez lived a double life. On one Facebook page, he loved partying. On his other Facebook page (under the name "Almlak Benitez"), he praised ISIS and contacted other Muslims about his plot to detonate a bomb on a Key West beach.

Can we talk about Islam yet?
BBC—A 23-year-old man has been charged with planning to detonate a backpack bomb on a Florida beach, US officials say.

The US justice department said Harlem Suarez, also known as Almlak Benitez, has been charged with attempting to use a weapon of mass destruction.

He allegedly planned to bury a bomb containing nails at a beach in Key West and detonate it with a mobile phone.

Prosecutors claim he was inspired by the Islamic State militant group, which has called for attacks on the West.

According to the FBI, Suarez recorded a video in May in which he said: "We will destroy America and divide it into two. We will raise our black flag on top of your White House and any president on duty."

Officials say he first came to the attention of the FBI in April after posting extremist messages on Facebook.

He was caught after buying a fake device from an FBI agent in a sting operation on Monday.

Several young men have been arrested in the US in recent months, with many plotting attacks in the name of the Islamic State group. (Source)

Muslim Convert Alexander Ciccolo Arrested in Massachusetts for Terrorist Plot

Alexander Ciccolo is the son of Boston Police Captain Robert Ciccolo. After converting to Islam, he was "inspired" by the Boston Marathon Bombing to go on a killing spree.

If Islam is really no different from other religions, why do so many young converts to Islam decide to wage jihad? Shouldn't we see a similar pattern among non-Muslims? Can we talk about Islam yet?
Alexander Ciccolo
ABC News—The estranged son of a respected Boston police captain was arrested July 4 by FBI agents as part of a counter-terrorism operation against alleged ISIS-inspired domestic terrorists, federal officials told ABC News today.

Alexander Ciccolo, 23, of Adams, Mass., was taken into custody on gun charges after buying two pistols and two rifles from an undercover FBI confidential informant, federal officials said. In a search of his apartment, officials reported they found it loaded with possible bomb-making equipment including a pressure cooker, a variety of chemicals, an alarm clock, along with “attack planning papers” and “jihad” paperwork. FBI agents said he used the name Abu Ali al-Amriki and neighbors said he was a recent convert to Islam.

“This is a very bad person arrested before he could do very bad things,” one senior federal official briefed on the arrest told ABC News.

According to the FBI, Ciccolo attempted to stab a nurse in the head with a pen during a routine screening, “leaving a hole in the nurse’s skin.”

An FBI affidavit said Ciccolo initially planned to travel to “another state” and use a pressure cooker bomb “to conduct terrorist attacks on civilians, members of the U.S. military and law enforcement personnel.” The FBI said the attack location was later changed to a town with a state university and would be concentrated on “college dorms and cafeteria, to include executions of students, which would be broadcast live via the internet.”

Weapons Obtained by Alexander Ciccolo
Ciccolo’s father is Boston police Captain Robert Ciccolo, a veteran commander assigned to Operations at Boston Police headquarters who was one of the first responders to the deadly Boston Marathon bombing in April 2013. According to the FBI, the younger Ciccolo said he was “inspired” by the Marathon bombing and the use of pressure cooker bombs, and told the FBI undercover operative, “Allahu Akbar!!! I got the pressure cooker today.”

Law enforcement officials said Capt. Ciccolo alerted counter-terrorism authorities about a year ago that his son, with whom he had had minimal contact for several years, “was going off the deep end” and “spouting extremist jihadist sympathies.”

According to the affidavit of an FBI agent, the younger Ciccolo recently stated that he is, “not afraid to die for the cause," and that he characterized America as ”Satan” and “disgusting.” (Continue Reading.)

Muslim Student Munther Omar Saleh Arrested for Plotting Terrorist Attacks in New York

I live in New York, go to church in Queens, and cross the George Washington Bridge regularly when heading to New Jersey. Yet I'm simply not allowed to be concerned about the ideology that leads highly educated American Muslims like Munther Omar Saleh to plot terrorist attacks that could kill me and my family.
George Washington Bridge
NEW YORK (WABC)—A 20 year old college student from Queens has been arrested for allegedly taking steps to plan to attack targets in the metropolitan area on behalf of ISIS.

Munther Omar Saleh appeared in federal court Saturday following a three month federal investigation.

Saleh conducted online searches on building explosives and was eluding law enforcement, authorities say. He was arrested earlier this month near the Whitestone Bridge.

According to investigators, he expressed interest to a confidential informant in conducting ISIS-style jihad in the New York metropolitan area.

Saleh thought al-Qaeda was getting soft and was "making efforts to prepare an explosive device for detonation" in New York, according to a criminal complaint unsealed Tuesday.

According to the federal complaint, it was two times back in March that Port Authority police spotted Saleh crossing the George Washington Bridge suspiciously, first, with a lantern, then simply scouting around.

But the federal government was well aware of his troubling activities.

Back on September 10th of 2014, Saleh had tweeted, "I fear AQ", meaning Al Qaeda, "could be getting too moderate".

But that was just the beginning.

The complaint also alleges that Saleh tweeted his support of the recent terrorist attack in Garland, Texas in which 2 suspects fired at a cartoon convention where pictures of the Prophet Muhammed were depicted.

Here's what else we now know about Saleh. He is a 20-year old U.S. citizen, an aeronautics student from Queens studying electrical circuitry.

In the complaint, authorities cite his research on the Internet, including everything from assault rifles and body armor, to pressure cooker bombs, propane, knives, ammo and crossbows.

They also say he even researched security footage from Columbine and New York City landmarks, and that he viewed an article called "What Does Islam Say About Killing An Innocent Person?"

Then they say it was early Saturday morning on 20th Avenue near the Whitestone Expressway that Saleh lunged at law enforcement shortly before his arrest.

Saleh was accused of being a "fervent supporter" of ISIS and offering to translate Islamic State propaganda into English. (Continue Reading.)

Muslim Convert Nicholas Rovinski Arrested in Plot to Behead Pamela Geller

Nicholas Rovinski used to be an agnostic. Then he converted to Islam. Now he's in jail for being part of a plot to behead Pamela Geller. He was even in contact with Alan Simpson, one of the jihadists killed in Texas while attempting to storm Geller's art exhibit.

As a Muslim, Rovinski enjoyed playing the guitar, studying outdoor survival, and watching The Deen Show. Any idea how a devout young Muslim convert could ever conclude that his religion commands him to kill critics of Islam? (Hint: Muhammad ordered his followers to kill critics of Islam.)
Muslim Convert Nicholas Rovinski
CNN—Authorities have arrested Nicholas Rovinski of Warwick, Rhode Island, in the Usaamah Rahim terror case, said Boston FBI spokeswoman Kristen Setera. He is the third suspect in the case, sources told have told CNN.

Nicholas Rovinski was arrested at 8:16 p.m. without incident. His home had been previously searched, and he had been questioned by authorities.

Rahim was shot dead by Boston police and FBI agents on Tuesday last week, in a confrontation over an alleged Islamist plot to attack police with knives.

Rovinski was a friend of Rahim and of David Wright, who has been arrested and charged with obstruction.

Law enforcement believed Rahim, who officials think was radicalized by ISIS and initially planned to behead a conservative blogger, was planning to launch his attack the day he died or the following day. He had switched targets to police officers, because they were more accessible, the FBI had said. . . .

In March, Rovinski had shared his Islamist extremist beliefs and motivation to act on them with CNN.

A producer exchanged messages with Rovinski, and during the conversation, the Rhode Island resident described exchanges with an alleged ISIS fighter who urged him to come to Iraq and Syria and join the terrorist group.

The communications were part of research into Americans identifying with jihadists online. Rovinski told CNN he considered following the fighter's call.

On his Twitter account, the Rhode Island resident spoke out against the United States: "Living amung (sic) the enemy."

"Who wishes to see flag of tawheed upon white house," he wrote on March 28. Tawheed, a fundamental principle and saying of Islam, is also a favorite inscription on jihadi flags -- namely ISIS and al Qaeda.

In an online conversation, he said, "I am not violent at heart but push the wrong button and its (sic) not pretty."

On his Twitter account were messages directed at people connected with ISIS, including Mujahid Miski, the online alias of Mohamed Abdullahi Hasan, a former Minnesotan believed to be fighting with Al Shabaab in Somalia.

Miski had also been in direct contact with Alan Simpson, one of the two shooters in the Texas attack on Geller's "Draw Your Own Mohammed" event in May.

Rovinski told CNN in the online exchanges that he would attend services at a mosque near his home but said he never shared his fundamentalist interpretation of Islam with his imam. Prior to his conversion to Islam, he said he was agnostic, but sought "truth and guidance" and found Islam. (Continue Reading.)

Boston Jihadi Usaamah Rahim Plotted to Behead Pamela Geller

Boston jihadi Usaamah Rahim was plotting to kill Pamela Geller, but he decided that police officers would be an easier target.

At this point, jihadis might want to start wondering why three Muslims who plotted to kill Pamela Geller are all dead. Perhaps Allah doesn't have the power they think he has.
Pamela Geller
CNN—Usaamah Rahim, who was fatally shot after waving a military knife at law enforcement officers in Boston, was originally plotting to behead Pamela Geller, an activist and conservative blogger, law enforcement sources told CNN on Wednesday.

But Rahim, a 26-year-old security guard who officials believe was radicalized by ISIS and other extremists, decided instead to target the "boys in blue," a reference to police, according to court documents.

"I can't wait that long," he said of the original beheading plan, according to an FBI affidavit filed in federal court in Boston.

Geller drew national attention last month after an off-duty police officer working security thwarted an attack at her organization's contest for Prophet Mohammed drawings in Garland, Texas. She's president of the American Freedom Defense Initiative, which includes subsidiary programs Stop Islamization of America and Stop Islamization of Nations.

Usaamah Rahim
"They targeted me for violating Sharia blasphemy laws. They mean to kill everyone who doesn't do their bidding and abide by their law voluntarily," Geller told CNN's Erin Burnett after learning of the alleged plot.

"This is a showdown for American freedom. Will we stand against this savagery or bow down to them and silence ourselves?"

Geller said that she's had an "army of security" since last month's Texas incident.

"This is what is required just to show a cartoon in America, 2015," she said. "It's striking. It's devastating, and people need to understand what's at stake. I mean, if we surrender on this point, what will we surrender next?" (Continue Reading.)

Texas Jihadist Elton Simpson Was a Convert to Islam

If Elton Simpson hadn't converted to Islam, he would still be alive today.
Elton Simpson
ABC News—The father of one of the suspected gunmen in the Garland, Texas, shooting told ABC News today that his son "made a bad choice."

"We are Americans and we believe in America," Dunston Simpson said. "What my son did reflects very badly on my family."

Simpson's son, Elton, was identified earlier today to ABC News by a senior FBI official as one of the suspects in Sunday's failed attack on a Texas community center that was hosting an event displaying cartoons of the Prophet Mohammad. Elton Simpson and another man were killed by a police officer after they opened fire on the officer and a security guard, local police said.

Today FBI agents and a bomb squad were at Simpson's home in an apartment complex in north Phoenix conducting searches of the apartment. Officials believe Simpson is the person who sent out several Twitter messages prior to the attack on Sunday, in the last one using the hashtag #TexasAttack about half an hour before the shooting. Prior to that, the Twitter account holder had published messages sympathetic to Islamic terror groups such as ISIS.

Dunston Simpson said his son worked at a dentist's office but was "on vacation" for the last few weeks and that the two last spoke three weeks ago. But they "had not much to talk about, because we had some very serious differences."

Still, the elder Simpson said that while he was a strict father, Elton was "always a good kid." . . .

Kristina Sitton, who represented Simpson in the 2010 trial, said her former client had been on a no-fly list and that the FBI had attempted to get Simpson to cooperate with them, even after his conviction. She saw him, she said, as "harmless."

"He grew up the most normal guy. Just a normal high school guy... Converting to Islam seemed like a good thing for him. He had been going down a bad path and then he found Islam," Sitton told ABC News. "He never struck me as someone who would do this sort of thing. I'm not a bleeding heart, I'm a Republican. I've seen some pretty bad guys and he seemed pretty normal." (Continue Reading.)

John Thomas Booker Jr. (aka Mohammed Abdullah Hassan) Charged in Fort Riley Bomb Plot

Since politicians and the media absolutely refuse to understand jihad, and since they have no plan for dealing with the root cause of jihad, it seems we're being forced to accept jihad as the new norm.
Kansas City Star—Federal authorities charged a 20-year-old Topeka man Friday with plotting to bomb Fort Riley in league with, he believed, the so-called Islamic State.

John Thomas Booker Jr., also known as Mohammed Abdullah Hassan, was named with in three counts that alleged he planned on Friday to use a “weapon of mass destruction” to damage property at the U.S. Army Base near Junction City in a suicide mission.

He was arrested without incident 9 a.m. Friday. Conviction on any count could mean a sentence of life in prison. The charges were announced by U.S. Attorney Barry Grissom of Kansas.

“We face a continued threat from individuals within our own borders who may be motivated by a variety of causes,” said Grissom said in a news release. “Anyone who seeks to harm this nation and its people will be brought to justice.”

More than a year ago, court records contend, Booker posted on Facebook that “I will soon be leaving you forever so goodbye! I’m going to wage jihad and hopes that i die.” A few days later, according to the charges, he said “getting ready to be killed in jihad is a HUGE adrenaline rush!!”

That, the charges contend, prompted a tip to FBI agents who interviewed him.

Booker had enlisted in the U.S. Army with the intent to “commit an insider attack against American soldiers,” the court records allege he told FBI agents.

The court records say he talked of shooting other soldiers in basic training — although preferring “someone with power” rather than “privates” — or being deployed overseas and turning on Americans if he was told to kill a fellow Muslim.

But he apparently enlisted under a delayed entry program and never became a part of the Army.

Months later, in October 2014, the charges contend Booker came in contact with an FBI informant and said he wanted to be part of the Islamic State, sometimes referred to as the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant.

Authorities on Friday contended that Booker had created at least two videos — one filmed in front of a collection of bomb materials — rented a 10-foot-by-20-foot storage locker in Topeka and went to several retailers buying bomb materials.

But they said there was never a breach in security at Fort Riley. And the assembled bomb material was inert, incapable of explosion.

“I want to assure the public there was never any breach of Fort Riley Military Base,” said FBI Special Agent in Charge Eric Jackson. “Recently the Command Staff at Fort Riley has been working hand-in-hand with law enforcement to ensure the utmost security and protection for the men and women who serve our country, and the surrounding community that supports the base.”

Still, the court records contend Booker planned a specific route through the base and targeted particular buildings to be struck with a car bomb. He had identified a utility gate to the base chosen because Booker believed his entry would not easily be detected and he could find an area where the car bomb “would kill as many soldiers as possible,” the charges contend.

While he was making the final connections to arm the car bombs at that gate, the charges allege, he was arrested by the FBI.

The court document describes a man eager to go overseas to fight with the Islamic State and a willingness take his fight to “the White House right now.”

Booker told an informant that a “suicide bomb is his number one aspiration because he couldn’t be captured, all evidence would be destroyed, and he would be guaranteed to hit his target.” (Continue Reading.)

Philadelphia Muslimah Keonna Thomas Arrested for Attempting to Join ISIS

Keonna Thomas is a devout Muslim woman living in Philadelphia. Somehow, she became convinced that Allah wants Muslims to become martyrs. Our leaders, of course, continue to assure us that the desire for martyrdom can't possibly have anything to do with Muhammad's teachings:
Sahih al-Bukhari 2785—Narrated Abu Hurairah: A man came to Allah’s Messenger and said, “Guide me to such a deed as equals Jihad (in reward).” He replied, “I do not find such a deed.”

Sahih al-Bukhari 2787—“Allah guarantees that He will admit the Mujahid in His Case into Paradise if he is killed, otherwise He will return him to his home safely with rewards and war booty.”

Sahih al-Bukhari 2795—Narrated Anas bin Malik: The Prophet said, “Nobody who dies and finds good from Allah (in the Hereafter) would wish to come back to this world, even if he were given the whole world and whatever is in it, except the martyr who, on seeing the superiority of martyrdom, would like to come back to the world and get killed again (in Allah’s cause).”

Sahih al-Bukhari 2796—Narrated Anas: The Prophet said, “A single endeavor (of fighting) in Allah’s cause in the afternoon or in the forenoon is better than all the world and whatever is in it.”

Sahih al-Bukhari 2797—Narrated Abu Hurairah: The Prophet said, . . . “By Him in Whose Hands my soul is! I would love to be martyred in Allah’s Cause and then come back to life and then get martyred, and then come back to life again and then get martyred and then come back to life again and then get martyred.”
Instead, Keonna's decision to become a martyr must be the result of her job situation.
PHILADELPHIA (AP)—A Philadelphia woman was arrested Friday on charges she tried to join and martyr herself for the Islamic State group, a day after two women in New York were charged with plotting to wage jihad by building a bomb and using it for a Boston Marathon-type attack.

Keonna Thomas, 30, was preparing to fly to Spain with hopes of reaching Syria to fight with the terror group, authorities said. Instead, she was arrested at her family's town house in a public housing development, which has three small U.S. flags adorning the porch.

Authorities said she communicated with an Islamic State group fighter in Syria who asked if she wanted to be part of a martyrdom operation. She told the fighter that the opportunity "would be amazing, ... a girl can only wish," according to the documents.

A federal magistrate ordered Thomas held pending a detention hearing Wednesday. Prosecutors will oppose bail.

Last month, Thomas bought a ticket to fly to Barcelona on March 29. She likely planned to take a bus to Istanbul and then reach Syria, according to an FBI affidavit filed in the case. Authorities put a stop to the trip when they raided her house March 27.

In court, Thomas wore a burqa as she acknowledged she understood the charge against her - attempting to provide material support and resources to a foreign terrorist organization. She was appointed a public defender, who did not comment on the charge.

Thomas appeared to show little emotion as she was led out of the house Friday morning in handcuffs, neighbor Ronni Patterson said. Patterson said she had seen investigators searching the home, where Thomas appeared to live with her mother and grandmother, a week ago.

"She came and went. She didn't bother no one," the neighbor said. (Continue Reading.)

Noelle Velentzas and Asia Siddiqui Charged in ISIS-Inspired New York City Terrorist Plot

I live in the Bronx, but I go to church in Queens, and my kids go to school in Queens. Yet for some reason, if I'm at all perturbed about terrorist plots in Queens, I'm sure to be labeled a "racist," a "bigot," and an "Islamophobe."

Strange times we live in.
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork)–Two New York City women inspired by ISIS were arrested Thursday for plotting to build a homemade bomb, authorities said.

Noelle Velentzas, 28, and Asia Siddiqui, 31, conspired to prepare an explosive device they planned to detonate in a terror attack in the U.S., according to court documents.

Until recently, Velentzas and Siddiqui were roommates from Queens. They are expected to appear in federal court in Brooklyn later Thursday afternoon.

“We are committed to doing everything in our ability to detect, disrupt, and deter attacks by homegrown violent extremists,” stated U.S. Attorney Loretta Lynch. “As alleged, the defendants in this case carefully studied how to construct an explosive device to launch an attack on the homeland. We remain firm in our resolve to hold accountable anyone who would seek to terrorize the American people, whether by traveling abroad to commit attacks overseas or by plotting here at home.”

Siddiqui was in possession of several propane gas tanks as well as instructions on how to turn them into explosive devices, according to the complaint.

“These defendants allegedly engaged in sustained efforts to obtain bomb-making instructions and materials, including using instructions provided by al-Qaeda’s online magazine,” said Police Commissioner Bill Bratton.

Siddiqui was also known as “Najma Samaa” and “Murdiyyah,” according to the complaint.

Valentzas praised the 9/11 terror attacks to an undercover operative, according to the complaint, saying being a martyr in a suicide attack guarantees entrance into heaven. Valentzas used a picture of Usama bin Laden holding an AK-47 as the background image on her cell phone, according to the complaint.

Valentzas took an interest in pressure cookers following the Boston Marathon bombing, according to the complaint.

Valentzas also allegedly considered attacking the funeral for slain officers Wenjian Liu and Rafael Ramos, according to the complaint.

“If we get arrested, the police will point their guns at us from the back and maybe from the front,” Valentzas allegedly said. “If we can get even one of their weapons, we can shoot them.”

Siddiqui was close with a prominent member of Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, according to the complaint, and repeatedly was in contact with the terror group.

Valentzas researched chemistry and how to build explosives at libraries and online, according to the complaint. The two also studied instructions on how to build a car bomb found in an Al Qaeda propaganda magazine.

Valentzas watched ISIS beheading videos on the Internet, the complaint alleges. She also visited the CBS New York website to read an article on a bill that would outlaw homemade explosives.

“If [the government] was to put all the information about the three of us together, we legitimately, to these people, look like a cell,” Valentzas allegedly said, referring to Siddiqui and an undercover operative. (Continue Reading.)

U.S. Air Force Veteran Tairod Nathan Webster Pugh Charged with Attempting to Join Islamic State

The Qur'an commands Muslims to "fight those who do not believe in Allah" (9:29). Somehow, the media are confused when some Muslims actually decide to obey Allah.
Tairod Nathan Webster Pugh
Reuters—A U.S. Air Force veteran pleaded not guilty on Wednesday to trying to provide support for the Islamic State militant group.

Tairod Nathan Webster Pugh, of Neptune, New Jersey, entered his plea at a hearing in the federal court in Brooklyn, New York. U.S. District Judge Nicholas Garaufis told attorneys to be ready for trial in July.

If convicted, Pugh could face up to 35 years in prison.

According to prosecutors, Pugh, 47, a former avionics instrument system specialist in the Air Force, tried to join Islamic State in January by traveling from Egypt to Turkey and trying to cross the border into Syria.

Turkish authorities sent him back to Egypt, which detained him and subsequently deported him to the United States, prosecutors said.

U.S. federal agents found recent Internet searches on Pugh's laptop and other devices for "borders controlled by Islamic State" and a propaganda video by the group, according to prosecutors.

Pugh served in the Air Force from 1986 to 1990 and converted to Islam after moving to San Antonio, Texas, in 1998, becoming "increasingly radical in his beliefs" in following years, according to a criminal complaint filed when he was arrested in January. (Continue Reading.)

U.S. Muslims Caught Providing Islamic State with U.S. Military Uniforms and Equipment

Nihad Rosic is a truck driver and had enough money to buy equipment to send to ISIS. Still think a jobs program is the solution to jihad?
Nihad Rosic
NBC—The Federal Bureau of Investigation confirms it arrested a man in central Indiana on Feb. 6, 2015, for allegedly helping ISIS terrorists.

13 Investigates first broke the story. We now have new details explaining how FBI agents caught their man.

His name is Nihad Rosic. He's originally from Bosnia, and moved to the United States where he's worked as a truck driver. But federal agents say he lives a double life and that he's part of a group that's been directly supporting ISIS terrorists in the Middle East.

As bloody battles rage on in Syria, the FBI and federal prosecutors have been working behind the scenes here in the United States.

Three weeks ago in St. Louis, prosecutors announced the indictment of six Bosnian nationals for conspiring to help ISIS terrorists. But what prosecutors did not announce is that one of the suspects was arrested in central Indiana.

13 Investigates has learned federal agents have been tracking Nihad Rosic for years. The FBI tells Eyewitness News that the truck driver was making a routine delivery off of Ronald Reagan Parkway in Plainfield when they made their arrest. It happened about an hour before Air Force One and President Barack Obama landed nearby.

The timing appears to be a coincidence. What is not coincidence, according to the indictment, is the relationship between Rosic and a brutal terrorist group.

The indictment says Rosic and other defendants provided ISIS fighters with US military uniforms, combat boots, tactical gear, and firearms accessories such as range finders and rifle scopes. They also wired thousands of dollars in cash, all in an elaborate conspiracy to commit "murder and maiming" in Syria and Iraq.

Investigators obtained records from Western Union and Paypal, and prosecutors say they show the transfer of money from the suspects in the Midwest to known terrorists in the Middle East. Federal agents also monitored phone calls, emails and Facebook to infiltrate their communication.

According to the indictment, members of the conspiracy used coded language, referring to each other as "lions." They called Syria "the beach." And weapons were known as "actions." (Continue Reading.)

Muslim Convert Christopher Lee Cornell Planned to Shoot President Obama in the Head

Muslim convert Christopher Lee Cornell (aka Raheel Mahrus Ubaydah) said that, if he hadn't been caught, he would have shot President Obama in the head. He also said that ISIS supporters "are in every state."

If only someone had given him a better job.
Christopher Lee Cornell
Fox News—A man accused of plotting an attack at the U.S. Capitol said in an interview with an Ohio television station if he hadn’t been arrested he would have gone to Washington and shot President Obama in the head.

Christopher Lee Cornell called into WXIX-TV in Cincinnati from a Kentucky jail and confessed to being a supporter of the Islamic State terror group and said he planned to kill government officials in retaliation for U.S. strikes on ISIS.

The station aired part of the interview Friday night, hours after Cornell's attorney argued unsuccessfully in court that it could violate the defendant's right to a fair trial.

Cornell, asked by the interviewer what he would have done had he not been arrested in January, said he would have taken one of his guns, "I would have put it to Obama's head, I would have pulled the trigger, then I would unleash more bullets on the Senate and House of Representative members, and I would have attacked the Israeli embassy and various other buildings."

Corner repeatedly identified himself as a Muslim in the interview. He said he wanted to carry out the attacks because of "the continued American aggression against our people and the fact that America, specifically President Obama, wants to wage war against Islamic State."

"They might say I'm a terrorist, but you know we see American troops as terrorists as well, coming to our land, stealing our resources and killing our people, raping our women."

Cornell said that supporters of the group are in Ohio and are in every state.

“We’re more organized than you think,” he said. (Continue Reading.)
