Pakistani Taliban Targets Christian Women and Children Celebrating Easter

As Pakistani Christians gathered at a park in Lahore to celebrate the resurrection of their Lord Jesus Christ, a Taliban suicide bomber worked his way towards the women and children before detonating his bomb. How many of these senseless atrocities must occur before Western politicians and the media start seriously examining the origins of Islamic violence?

Pakistan: 14 Dead, Dozens Injured as Muslim Suicide Bombers Attack Churches

Politicians and the media continue to pretend that ISIS is an anomaly. But long before anyone had heard of ISIS, Christians were being killed in Pakistan, Egypt, Iraq, Nigeria, and other countries where Muslims outnumber Christians.

Many Christians in the Muslim world face daily persecution. Meanwhile, most Christian leaders in the West are too worried about being called names to speak against the ideology that fuels the brutal deaths of their brothers and sisters.

Suicide bombers are willing to lay down their lives to bring death. Can we not at least speak out to defend life?

Reuters—Bombs outside two churches in the Pakistani city of Lahore killed 14 people and wounded nearly 80 during Sunday services, and witnesses said quick action by a security guard prevented many more deaths.

A Pakistani Taliban splinter group claimed responsibility.

Islamist militants in Pakistan have attacked Christians and other religious minorities often over the last decade or more.

Many Christians, who make up less than two percent of Pakistan's population of more than 180 million, accuse the government of doing little to protect them, saying politicians are quick to offer condolences after an attack but slow to act to improve security.

Sunday's blasts occurred minutes apart in a majority Christian suburb of the eastern city. Police said it seemed they targeted two churches, one Catholic and one Protestant, that are very close to each other.

After the explosions, enraged residents protested and lynched two suspects, police said.

"I was sitting at a shop near the church when a blast jolted the area. I rushed toward the spot and saw the security guard scuffle with a man who was trying to enter the church. After failing, he blew himself up," said witness Amir Masih.

Afghan Taliban

Kabul, Afghanistan (CNN)—At least 45 people were killed and 60 others wounded Sunday when a suicide bomber attacked a crowd watching a volleyball match in the Yahyakhil district of Afghanistan's southeastern Paktika province, according to a spokesman for the provincial governor.

Volleyball is a popular sport in the region.

In 2010, a suicide car bomb exploded in the middle of a group of men playing volleyball in northwest Pakistan. That attack left 30 people dead and 52 wounded.

Sunday's attack comes the same day the nation's parliament agreed to allow NATO forces to remain in Afghanistan after 2014.

It's unusual for an attack in Afghanistan to kill so many people.

Pakistani Taliban Declares Allegiance to ISIS (Islamic State)

Reuters - The Pakistani Taliban declared allegiance to Islamic State on Saturday and ordered militants across the region to help the Middle Eastern jihadist group in its campaign to set up a global Islamic caliphate.

Islamic State, which controls swathes of land in Syria and Iraq, has been making inroads into South Asia, which has traditionally been dominated by local Taliban insurgencies against both the Pakistan and Afghanistan governments.

The announcement comes after a September move by al Qaeda chief, Ayman al-Zawahri, to name former Taliban commander Asim Umar as the "emir" of a new South Asia branch of the network that masterminded the 2001 attacks on the United States.

Although there is little evidence of a firm alliance yet between IS and al Qaeda-linked Taliban commanders, IS activists have been spotted recently in the Pakistani city of Peshawar distributing pamphlets praising the group.

IS flags have also been seen at street rallies in Indian-administered Kashmir. The trend has been of growing concern to global powers struggling to keep up with the fast-changing nature of the international Islamist insurgency.

In a message marking the Muslim holy festival of Eid al-Adha, the Pakistani Taliban said they fully supported IS goals.

"Oh our brothers, we are proud of you in your victories. We are with you in your happiness and your sorrow," Taliban spokesman Shahidullah Shahid said in a statement sent to Reuters by email from an unknown location.

"In these troubled days, we call for your patience and stability, especially now that all your enemies are united against you. Please put all your rivalries behind you ...

"All Muslims in the world have great expectations of you ... We are with you, we will provide you with Mujahideen (fighters) and with every possible support."

The statement, released in Urdu, Pashto and Arabic, was sent after Islamic State militants beheaded British aid worker Alan Henning in a video posted on Friday, triggering condemnation by the British and U.S. governments. (Continue Reading.)

Pakistani Army Arrests Taliban Gunmen Who Shot Malala Yousafzai

Sad that in this group of ten men carrying out a plan to murder a little girl, not one of them realized that Islam is a religion of peace and tolerance.

Pakistan—The Pakistani army said Friday it had arrested the gunmen who tried to kill schoolgirl campaigner Malala Yousafzai in the country's restive northwest in 2012.

The teenage activist was shot in the head by Taliban gunmen but recovered and went on to earn international plaudits for her fight for the right of all children to an education.

The detention of the 10 men, a joint operation involving army, police and intelligence agencies, came as part of the Pakistani military's ongoing offensive against the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and other extremist outfits.

"The group involved in the attack on Malala Yousufzai has been arrested," Major General Asim Bajwa told a news conference.

He said the group was part of the TTP and the plan to kill Malala came from network's current leader Maulana Fazlullah.

After narrowly surviving the assassination bid, Malala was taken to Britain with her family for treatment, where she now lives. (Continue Reading.)

Taliban Gunmen Shoot Journalist Sardar Ahmad, His Wife, and His Children

Where's the international uproar over a family of five being deliberately targeted by the Taliban? If someone had made a cartoon or a Youtube video of Muhammad, there would be riots in the streets, and Western leaders, up to and including the President of the United States, would be busy condemning whoever made the cartoon or video. But when the Taliban shoot a journalist and his entire family at a hotel, no one seems to care much.

Here again we have the subtle bigotry of lowered expectations. People aren't surprised when Taliban gunmen commit some atrocity, because people don't expect the Taliban to behave like civilized human beings. And so the attacks continue, because we never tell the Taliban they need to grow up (it would be racist and Islamophobic to condemn their culture, you see).

21 Dead (Mostly Civilians) in Taliban Attack on Kabul Restaurant

Muslims assure us that Islam doesn't allow attacks on civilians. Those of us who read the Muslim sources know that this is complete nonsense. That's why there won't be an uproar by CAIR or ISNA over this Taliban terrorist attack on civilians.

Aftermath of Kabul Attack

KABUL, AFGHANISTAN – At least three Americans were among 21 killed in a Taliban attack Friday on a Kabul restaurant popular with foreigners and affluent Afghans, the deadliest violence against foreign civilians in the country since the start of the war nearly 13 years ago.

The U.S. Embassy in Kabul confirmed early Saturday in a Twitter posting that Americans were among those killed. "Our deepest sympathies go out to the families of those who were killed," the post read.

Kabul police chief Gen. Mohammad Zahir Zahir said Saturday that the victims included 13 foreigners and eight Afghans, and that the majority are civilians.

He says the three attackers, including a suicide bomber and two gunmen, were also killed during Friday's assault on the Lebanese restaurant.

The dead included the head of the International Monetary Fund in Afghanistan and three United Nations staff. (Continue Reading.)

Taliban Recruiting Starving Orphans as Suicide Bombers

Western politicians and the media keep telling us that Islam is wonderful, peaceful, tolerant, etc. Meanwhile, the world's most devout Muslims are giving candy to orphans in an effort to convince them to become suicide bombers.

5-Year-Old Afghan Children

Daily Mail—Taliban insurgents in Afghanistan are bribing starving children as young as eight years old to plant deadly roadside booby traps, be decoys in ambushes and even act as suicide bombers.

Despite the Islamic fundamentalists’ claim they have no children in their ranks, extremists have been actively recruiting orphaned and homeless young boys and training them to use guns, improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and suicide vests.

In return, they ply the desperate youngsters with sweets and chocolate, an investigation for Channel 4’s Dispatches programme has learned.

Afghan orphan Neaz told how he was just eight when he was promised a handful of coins by Taliban fighters to convert him to their cause. The boy had been tending his father’s flock of sheep when coalition forces bombed his village.

‘The Taliban were hiding in our house when a helicopter came and bombed us,’ he said. ‘My father was hit in his heart and his head, he was torn apart. My mother was hit in the chest and died. I have no one.’

Former Taliban Recruit Neaz

In the immediate aftermath of the raid, Neaz was kidnapped by Taliban leaders and taken to a nearby town and shown how to use guns and make IEDs. They plied him with sweets and he was initially delighted when they said they planned to bring him an extra-special gift – a suicide vest packed with bullets and grenades.

‘They made me try it on. The grenades went all around my body and then they offered me the coins [50 Afghanis – about 60p],’ he said. ‘They told me to blow myself up at a checkpoint. I asked what I’d do with the money if I had to blow myself up. But they kept encouraging me, telling me that if I did it I would go to heaven.’

He finally escaped and walked nine miles to turn himself in at a police station. Now aged ten, Neaz lives in an orphanage in Lashkar Gah.

Other children are less fortunate. There are 224 children in prisons in Helmand and Ghazni, arrested by government forces for planning or carrying out attacks.

Film-maker Najibullah Quraishi said: ‘Thousands of children are being recruited and taught to make bombs or become suicide bombers. It is common for 13-year-olds to carry guns. Less than ten per cent of the population is educated so these children don’t have their own minds, they only have what the mullahs are telling them in the mosques.’ (Continue Reading.)
