Saudi Arabia Calls for Internet Censorship of Material Critical of Islam

Hmmm, now I'm confused. Whenever I warn Westerners to guard their freedoms against demands for Sharia, I'm assured that there are absolutely no differences between Western values and Islamic values. So why do I keep seeing calls for major reductions in our freedom to critique Islam?

TELEGRAPH--In a submission to forthcoming international talks on internet governance, the Gulf state said “there is a crying need for international collaboration to address ‘freedom of expression’ which clearly disregards public order”.

During the controversy over a 14-minute clip posted on YouTube and purportedly a trailer for a feature film called “The Innocence of Muslims”, Google resisted pressure, including from the White House, to remove it.

"This video - which is widely available on the web - is clearly within our guidelines and so will stay on YouTube," Google said last month.

The Saudi government has now told the World Telecommunications Policy Forum, a UN body, that the incident was “an obvious example” of the need for greater international cooperation to restrict content online.

“Any reasonable person would know that this film would foment violence and, indeed, many innocent persons have died and been injured with this film as a root cause,” the Saudi submission said. (Continue Reading.)

Since I insist on being respectful of Muslim demands, I humbly offer my two responses:

Islam- the fear that someone somewhere may be enjoying their freedoms.

Eric Allen Bell in his Frontpagemag article was right: Islam is on the back foot. And it's not time to slow down on it.

IMO, Islam has reached its high water mark. With the internet the homogenous domination of one set of ideas over a population, has become impossible. They seem well aware that there really is no weapon against the global reach of free information exchange apart from criminalising the speech itself.

It's pretty pathetic that the true religion would need to resort to such tactics. I think we're entitled to a good laugh at that one.

Some more good news. Just listening to an interview with blogger/author Vox Day. The Muslim population of Europe is actually only about 4%. (I guessed up to 15%). He pointed out that Americans have a skewed view of how many Muslims are in Europe because they tend to visit the cities like London and Paris, where the large concentrations are. He points out that the colonisation of the South by Hispanics is much more advanced than the colonisation of Europe by Muslims. (That was the bad news.)

@bobby, don't take it as offense.

IMO, Islam has not reached it's
high water mark.
This cult of sex crazed, lies and anti prophet defiling protesters will grow as many as idiocracy allows it.
There's no limit to how imbe**** would stop people learning about the truth.
They have suppressed the truth with lies and threat of violence. The new generation is easily fooled, as the muslims declares islam, a peaceful religion, and violence are just radicals and smaller sect of Islam.

If the new converts to islam realized how wrong it is, in many muslim countries, it's too late. For me, it's only Christ that can help these people.
