Moderate Pakistani Politician Salman Taseer Assassinated in the Name of Islam

Many Muslims live far better lives than their prophet lived. The reason they reinterpret the violent teachings of the Qur'an is that they don't approve of violence or oppression. Ever wonder why more of these peaceful Muslims don't speak out against Muhammad's teachings?

ISLAMABAD – The governor of Pakistan's most dominant province was shot and killed Tuesday by a bodyguard who authorities said was angry about his opposition to blasphemy laws carrying the death sentence for insulting the Muslim faith.

Punjab Gov. Salman Taseer, regarded as a moderate voice in a country increasingly beset by zealotry, was a close ally of U.S.-backed President Asif Ali Zardari. He is the highest-profile Pakistani political figure to be assassinated since former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto three years ago, and his death underscores the growing danger in this country to those who dare challenge the demands of Islamist extremists.

Taseer was riddled by gunshots while walking to his car after an afternoon meal at Kohsar Market, a shopping center in Islamabad popular with Westerners and wealthy Pakistanis. He was shot in the back, said Shaukat Kayani, a doctor at Poly Clinic Hospital.

Initial reports indicated the suspected gunman, a police commando guarding Taseer, unloaded up to 26 rounds from a Kalashnikov automatic rifle. The gunman could have fired that number of rounds in a matter of seconds. (Read more.)

Think other moderates are lining up to become active in the Pakistani government?

It is not a surprise at all. Islam is a violent cult belief system where politics and religion cannot be separated. This is the root cause why it cannot be reformed. Islam is the main business of the political elite in majority of Islamic countries and it is acting as a powerful tool to subjugate and control devout followers. An unquestioned submission to Allah can be easily transformed in to a total submission to ruling elite. Allah remains in his place and Mohammed will be replaced by the rulers. This necessitates whipping up of Islamic frenzy and covert support to terrorist organizations that like to pursue global Islamic agenda as defined by their sick, dirty and pervert Prophet. It is like riding on a tiger and any attempt to dismount will result in danger or death. Thus, most Islamic countries can have only theocratic or dictatorial regimes. This necessitates covertly helping and abetting the pan Islamic killer agenda of fanatics to remain in power. This forced political compulsion will ensure gradual decimation of minorities from Islamic countries and sustained terrorism and stealth nuisance by its devout in non-Islamic countries. After minorities are reduced to insignificant levels, more emphasis will be given to sort out sectarian differences as the question of settling Islamic purity is no less important compared to going after infidels. In short, left to its ways, the religion peace will keep on generating increased human body peaces till majority of humans are eliminated in the devout duty of pleasing Allah before total peace is achieved. This is what happens when a deceptive trick used to raise killer gangs to commit crimes for outright gains gets mutated in to a useful political tool in the guise of a religion.

Slightest moderation by rulers means effectively going out of business. This is what happened to Punjab Governor Salman Taseer. Devout Muslims love anything that can be used to harass, persecute and intimidate minorities in their countries. Pakistan is under a brief spell of faltering democracy and the only fault of this man was to support moderation of the cruel Blasphemy laws that are being used by fanatics to persecute and ultimately hang helpless minorities. The trusted body guard who back stabbed him must be gloating with unbounded happiness for the great service he has rendered to Allah. There is no easy way to deal with the threat posed by this violent cult belief system that effectively wipes out sanity and reasoning in its devout followers.

According to MSNBC, quoted below, it is moderates praising the assassinated:

"Muslim scholars praise killer of Pakistan governor
"Gov. Taseer was reportedly shot over his opposition to the country's blasphemy laws

"LAHORE, Pakistan — More than 500 Muslim scholars are praising the man suspected of killing a Pakistani governor because the politician opposed blasphemy laws that mandate death for those convicted of insulting Islam.

"The group of scholars and clerics known as Jamat Ahle Sunnat is affiliated with a moderate school of Islam and represents the mainstream Barelvi sect."
