You've seen many Muslims take delight in the fact that we were arrested at the Dearborn Arab Festival. Now take a good look at what we were arrested for. Then ask yourself, "Why would Muslims be so happy that Christians were arrested for peacefully sharing the Gospel?"
Also take a close look at the accusations of the Dearborn Police, Mayor John C. O'Reilly, certain local Christian leaders, etc. Then ask yourself, "Why are so many people lying about Acts 17?"
“An illegal arrest is an assault and battery. The person so attempted to be restrained of his or her liberty has the same right to use force in defending him or herself as he or she would in repelling any other assault and battery.” (State v. Robinson, 145 ME. 77, 72 ATL. 260).
“Each person has the right to resist an unlawful arrest. In such a case, the person attempting the arrest stands in the position of a wrongdoer and may be resisted by the use of force, as in self- defense.” (State v. Mobley, 240 N.C. 476, 83 S.E. 2d 100).
“One may come to the aid of another being unlawfully arrested, just as he may where one is being assaulted, molested, raped or kidnapped. Thus it is not an offense to liberate one from the unlawful custody of an officer, even though he may have submitted to such custody, without resistance.” (Adams v. State, 121 Ga. 16, 48 S.E. 910).

Amen! Great Questions, Great Answers!
Nabeel,
Well done, I think you were able to legitimately answer the questions of the youth in a very professional and respectful manner.
I think the questions that they were asking were very good ones as you mentioned and it was very clear that they were there to have a dialogue with you.
I think the fact that your entire family is Muslim brought you a lot of credibility in their eyes, and not only should you NOT have been arrested, but people with a background like yours (former muslims) should be encouraged to attend these sorts of festivals to further engage in meaningful dialogue between the faiths.
May the peace of the Lord be always with you.
Praise God brothers,
My heart is filled with joy for the boldness with which brother Nabeel shared Gospel with muslims.
As for dearborn police a big shame is waiting for them. God said that those who put faith in Him will never be ashamed.
God Bless you all
Those teenagers when they first approached in the video -- at least some of them -- were looking a little belligerent. Were they about to riot? Teenagers are notoriously volatile, so it's hard to say for sure, but saying they were about to riot certainly seems an exaggeration. At the same time, the situation did look a little dangerous at the beginning of the video, and from that point of view, the officers' reporting of potential riot (i.e., brawl) was not absolutely inaccurate. That doesn't mean the arrest was legal, judicious, or necessary. But I can understand officers wanting to preempt any possibility of violence. That is part of their job. But it's a more important part of their job to protect the First Amendment. And there, the police made a mistake.
As Nabeel talked, the teenagers seemed to mellow out a little. Was Nabeel screaming at them? No. The police obviously exaggerated. The conversation was developing in an interesting way, and it would have been good to see where it was going. But when police action cuts off speech, communication and creativity is silenced. That's how societies can become sterile.
While I think the police were wrong, I can partly understand the desire to preempt any potential for violence.
I hope that Acts17 wins this case, for the sake of the First Amendment and religious freedom. Acts17 are heroes in my book, and brilliant. Keep up the incredible, brave work.
Oh the police department, police chief and the mayor are TOAST! It shows up their falsehoods so much I am shocked that you were even charged after the footage was reviewed. I am so proud of you guys! If I had buttons on they would be popping off I am so proud of you my Christian brothers, and sister! Nabeel, You were kind, and gracious and well spoken even when others were less than all that, and you told the young men present the gospel with grace and sincerity. David and Paul you did a fabulous job recording and doing what you were supposed to do! I think some Christian leaders also owe you a sincere apology.
Traeh,
The point is they should never had arrested any of them. Even if they were trying to get them out of a dangerous situation, why charge them? Why handcuff them? They could have expressed their concern and tried to escort them away from the area, but they handcuffed them and arrested them. Took their camera away and are continuing to charge them. I don't understand your point.
INCREDIBLE!! Arrested for that...and CHARGED?? There is no way on God's green earth that they will win this case.
OK, fair enough. As an agnostic, I disagree with your message, but you have the right to share your message in a non-disruptive manner that doesn't infringe on the rights of others. From that video footage, I did not see Nabeel acting improperly or engaging in anything illegal. Unless there is evidence against you that we are not aware of, you guys have done nothing illegal and it appears the charges against you are false.
I hope the DPD giving you back your video footage does not mean they have something else up their sleeve.
Also why would your fellow Christians lie about you? Aren't you guys supposed to be unified? (John 17)
Trully amazing. Really amazing.
"Suffer unto me the little chrildren"
Some observations aside from the obvious.
Notice when the "YUTES" first come up to Nabeel they are atagnoistic. But then Nabeel calms them down speaking through the holy spirit.
Notice that they go from total anomosity to asking real questions about our faith.
This is something that I noticed at ISNA with Antonio, Sam and David. It was the muslim "YUTES" who approached and were interested. 99.9 percent of the adults just walked away or were telling the muslim kids "Dont listen to them, there crazy"
They are starving for Christ.
Amazing, really amazing.
Oh Yahya Snow, just to let you know "YUTE" is not a insult its from a Joe Pecchi Movie, which if it is not already will go down as a American movie classic.
I forgot to add, One of the "Yutes" that Antonio was diologuing with, actualy said at the end. "This has been intersting, I have never talked to a christian before... I mean never talked about what you guys believe... I didnt know about this stuff" or words to that effect.
Oh he was actually late teens maybe 20 but to me that is a YUTE.
God I'm old :)
Theres no way the DPD is going to get out of this one. Nabeel even asked the police, "Is this legal?" the Police answered "Yes." That right there should be a huge blow to the DPD in court.
David and Nabeel, I've been following this story and posting the videos on this page as the saga progressed. I took the liberty of taking some screenshots of the police involved in the arrest if you are interested:

Thanks Brothers! :) Please listen to a testimony from an open air Gospel preacher. Several times in Seattle I have been NICELY asked to stop preaching at Folklife Festivals and such, where some in very large crowds were being really hostile; (NOT like in this video with Nabeel and the young Muslim men). The Seattle Police Officers would nicely ASK me, and then tell me; "We can't make you stop because of your free speech rights, but we are asking you to stop for 10 minutes to let some people calm down"; We can see the great difference between this and what the DBPD has illegally done. There is NO QUESTION that the DBPD has succumbed to a dhimmie like attitude and are being manipulated by a Muslim mentality. I join with many others and call upon some of you local Pastors of Dearborn to humble yourselves and apologize to Acts 17! "I am not ashamed of The Gospel of Christ". Rom.1:16. Get out of your cozy Christian clergy closet caves and "Do the work of the evangelist" 2 Tim.4:5. This means "PREACH"-kerusso, proclaim, cry out,out in public, like the town crier, etc. And by the way, just passing out literature does not qualify as "preach" in the Biblical sense of the word. I said this once before: I was an EYEWITNESS to most of what happened that night, and our brothers did nothing wrong! The videos are proof of everything. We have to stand up to this evil. Like it says in II Thess."because they recieved not a love of the truth". Body of Christ! We need to come together like never before. "Love In The Truth" III John v.1. (I'll calm down now).
Hi everyone,
Praised be our Lord Jesus Christ that the video cameras are back.
I've re posted here the videos about the arrest(hope there isn't a problem, if there is a problem let me know so I could take them down).
http://101-bible-contradictions-answered.blogspot.com/
Paul.
This was a peaceful conversation, not an arrestable offense. Sadly, The Adversary was clearly at work in this situation. Just as meaningful dialogue was opening up...in come the police to execute an arrest. It's also interesting to note how strong of an influence the work of Ahmed Deedat still has over these young Muslims (sad).
God bless u guys
I loved those young men asking thoughtful, intelligent questions, how beautiful was that! And Nabeel answering in such a courteous manner. That was amazing, the police really killed the moment.
Stunning video, guys! I was really nervous for Nabeel, but man he stood there like a champ, praise be to the Holy Spirit. I'm soooo inspired right now!
I just want to encourage you brothers with the fact that if you check history, the church grew when it was persecuted. You've been given an incredible honor of being persecuted for Christ and to bear His Testimony before these brothers who are lost to Satan. So may your hearts be gladdened by the fact that you are planting the seeds for an incredibly large harvest. As far as the authorities are concerned, I am sorry for them, they will be given their just recompense and on that day, at least some of these brothers you have interacted with, will bow their knees before Christ in His worship and these men will realize how wrong they have been. Cheer up brothers! Soon you shall also bring in the souls for which you have been unjustly arrested.
Am I missing something here? I thought you were supposed to be told; 'I'm arresting you for,' read your rights, then cuffed and taken away! I'm serious; can someone tell me what I missed.
Will we have some feedback from:
Besmikov Lenko?
1moremuslim?
Osama the Great Abdallah?
Yahya Snow?
Ethesham the lyer Gulam?
hope so...
@ brother Nabeel: your presence was amaizing; your words Spirit inspired; your peacefull actitude noble; you are a real blessing to Christianity... may God bless you inn your life: I'm prounde to be your brother inn Christ...
finaly: can anyone imagine the reasons why thate youth was saying thate there are 8 bibles? thankes...
Thus video alone vindicates the Dearborn 4. What riot? wha? dangerous cituation? and what impending thunderstorm? If I recall the correctly there would be no storm for a few more houurs. In fact
the weahter was not threating at all.
As you saw all Nabeel was doing was having a conversation and was arrested.
This begs the question why. Politics The mayor and police chief's jobs depend on keeping the Muslims happy and if they can inforce a bit of Shariah it means votes. "The truth be damned and Allahua-u-akbar.
Fernando, I'm guessing he was referring to translations.
Thanks for the support, everyone! I am blessed to have friends like you :-)
Look at this absurd nonsense:
"Fortunately people who went to the festival to cause problems obtained criminal records for their trouble, namely four Christian missionaries from a group called Acts 17 Apologetics, who with video cameras assaulted Muslims at the festival in order to make people react angrily and then post their videos on youtube.
Nabeel Qureshi, a convert to Christianity, and David Wood, members of the Acts 17 group, were arrested after assaulting several people. Their names and videos were listed on several anti-Muslim websites.
What was quite remarkable at the festival was the increased evangelical Christian presence–although the churches that maintained booths at the festival seemed respectful in comparison with the hoodlums who were arrested, it is quite an assault against Muslims when they cannot even walk at an Arab festival without people trying to drag them away from their religion"
http://muslimmedianetwork.com/mmn/?p=6409
This was dated June 24th and apparently you all were "assaulting" Muslims. What do you think the odds of this website ever printing a retraction or correction are once you are acquitted of the charges? (and as far as I know assault is not something any of you have been charged with, so frankly they owe you a printed retraction/correction right now)
"Can I eat my falafal now"
Thats all Nabeel wanted to do was eat his Falafal, when he was approached.
I can just hear Yahya Snows voice
Nabeel is a liar, you can clearly hear that Nabeel does raise his voice when he SHOUTS "My Mom is Muslim, my Dad is Muslim, My sister is Muslim all my cousins are Muslim, I LOVE MUSLIM"
How dare Nabeel shout that he loves Muslims.
The following explains Islam's agenda for America and Dearborn is a prime example.
WAKE UP AMERICA
The U.S constitution has been in existence for more than two hundred years and is based upon the conviction that a civilized nation is built on freedom and human rights.
No other time in American history have we witnessed the building of an infrastructure on American soil by foreigners with an agenda to further their own separate, incompatible ideology and legal system. Loyalty to Islam has no borders and takes precedent over allegiance to the flag of any nation, including America.
Arab-Muslims never integrate into a new society to become a part of it because their allegiance is first to Islam.
Our dilemma lies in the fact that we as Americans, as well as others in the West, are simply unable to grasp the Arab-Muslim mentality because to understand it we must be outside our Western mind-set, by reaching beyond our borders and focusing on both the accounts of the oppressed non-Muslims within Arab countries and parallel examples around the world, we may begin to understand the goals, motives and thinking of this particular culture
It does seem likely that practitioners of Islam here in America are not subscribers to the Bill of Rights for the long term, but instead choose the precepts of Islam and the verses which dictate their actions. As sweet words are spoken, the sword is drawn and ready, as in this quote translated into English from one of the basic Islamic reference books: Sahih al-Bukhari 6924-Allah's Messenger said, I have been ordered to kill the people till they say there is no other god but Allah' ('La ilaha illallah'), and whoever said La ilaha illahllah, Allah will save his property and his life from me."
The United States is indeed at a crossroads, and it is time to put aside our political differences in order to defend our liberties. Our freedom is a way of life and a treasure which we are obligated to protect, and we must acknowledge that we are accepting those into our country who now constitute a serious threat to our values. Islamic immigration with the implementation of Shariah law is not assimilation into the U.S. of America but rather a distinctly different intention. We must not be silent on this issue but find the courage to speak out to defend our precious freedom here on American soil.

Yes, I agree. What is this? This is terrible! Beat the crap (figure of speech) out of them in court, guys!
May the Almighty and Just God deal with them as He sees fitting of their opposition to His messengers.
On an additional note... I fail to see jem or Elaine anywhere so far...
Maybe they've yet to return to this blog to check out these exonerating videos.
Praise God that He continues to protect His children from the Devil's evil schemes.
Nice job, guys. Nabeel, you did a phenomenal job staying cool under fire. The one youth was continuously antagonistic and your replies wonderfully deflected his words while fairly answering him and keeping things calm.
To Nabeel,
"Thanks for the support, everyone! I am blessed to have friends like you :-)"
I say like Jesus Christ: I don't name you my friends, but my brothers, cause we have the same Lord.
God bless you all!
Paul.
Here's the message I sent to all the Dearborn city departments and judges. Let me know how it turns out! Check out my blog when you get a chance.
"You have to explain to me this video clip, and how I can be certain my family and I won't be arrested for something we didn't do when we're vacationing in Dearborn.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0relDfMQ4xQ&feature=player_embedded
If your Police are willing to lie on an arrest report, and then lie about what they saw in court, how can anyone be safe in your city?"
Chad Groenhout,
I clearly said I thought the police were wrong to arrest them. I said I hope Acts 17 wins their case -- by which I meant not only defeating the charges against them, but winning in the civil action their lawyer said he would bring against Dearborn.
What don't you understand in the rest of what I said? Is any of what I said not true?
From my facebook update:
Second video up from Dearborn ready for public viewing. Notice there is no screaming or yelling from anyone on the video, especially not from Nabeel. Notice the crowd of boys was interested in asking Nabeel more questions as the police stealthily arrested David in the background. Notice that the police did not tell Nabeel why he wa...s being arrested or THAT he was being arrested at the time they put handcuffs on. Nor did the video pick up anything police said to Paul. If there was an impending riot, the police did not tell the crowd to disperse first if indeed safety was their first priority. David asked "Did you notice something missing from the footage?" I certainly noticed MANY things missing from the footage that don't match what the allegations are against Acts 17.
After reading your prologue about the right to resist an unlawful arrest, it seems to me that the officers who made the illegal arrests and the supervisors who ordered them to do it should charged criminally with assault and civilly with violating Act 17’s civil rights.
Follow it up the chain of command to the mayor’s office and the Muslim leaders who gave them their orders.
You guys are wonderful. I am so happy to have you as brothers and sisters in Christ. I absolutely love how you were able to carry on such a wonderful conversation with those Muslim youths, Nabeel. I mean you can tell that they were looking to trap you but you spoke to them calmly and lovingly by the power of the Holy Spirit. The Dearborn PD should be ashamed of themselves but that would mean that they'd first have to hold values such as honesty in high esteem and really, I doubt that.
Praise the Lord! The Word was preached. It will not return void. Nabeel; you handled that group of young men and boys very well. I detected a note of disrespect on their faces initially, but they warmed up to your friendliness and informative discussion.
Where have all the haters accusing Nabeel and David of doing wrong gone?
Nabeel and Master Wood, stop pretending you don't know why you were arrested.
Can you please disclose the formal charges for your arrest so that people can get an idea of whether the arrest was justified on the basis of Michigan state law.
My guess is that you were arrested for disorderly conduct and if that is the case then I don't think you stand a chance in court.
Bartimaeus -
There was a nasty storm that night. But it hit around 9:30 to 10:00ish.
I'm actually not sure why the weather was included in the police report. You'd think the report would focus on their activities and the people engaged with them.
Traeh,
"While I think the police were wrong, I can partly understand the desire to preempt any potential for violence."
I guess I got the feeling from your post that you had a little feeling of understanding for the police officers when they arrested them. Sorry if I misunderstood you.
I'm glad these videos are being released. Those were wise words spoken by Nabeel and I think a very wise move to ask the officer if he was legally allowed to take the microphone and get his answer on tape.
I pray God will be glorified in wise use of words in the upcoming court sessions.
I just watched last years Dearborn video, Sharia law in the US. Living and working in Dearborn for many years I knew a few of the security guards. The leading guard in the red shirt with the goat tee was Hassan Makled. The other guy Sam (the built guy who kept smacking the camera) is the boxing coach at the Kronk boxing club at golds gym in Dearborn. I was surprised to see Has doing what he did, and then again I wasn't.
I'm beginning to think Lupus is a troll - what say ye?
Lupus a troll? No way; by any means... he's just a rabies dog... to sad to say this, butt I do think so... just watch: he has inflammation of the brain since he cannot think properly nor speak withe coeherence and truth rather always lying and making posteporous claims... is there some sort off cure to this deciese? I guess so: apostacizing from islam...
Lupus is either a troll or it's Mayor O'Reilly maybe even Cheif Haddad dropping by to say hello. Maybe Lupus is with the STF from Dearborn. Either way, Brother Nabeel, Lupus = Troll....
I highly doubt it's the mayor or the chief, but I am leaning on the "yes" side for troll. This latest comment is absurd.
Nabeel wrote:

Lupus replied:
Well my dear friend nabeel if my comment is so absurd why not chase away the troll by telling us what the carges are.
By the way disorderly conduct doesn't have to entail any leud act or intoxication on the part of the one arrested.
I suggest you check the definition of disorderly conduct in Michigan state law.
Lupus -
Really?
On this site, we've been discussing constitutionality, legality, motives, Christian response to government, Christian actions with regard to the unbelievers. That's a lot of weighty material. Then you come on here with that comment? It appears as though you just want to say whatever to attack these guys' integrity. They read the police report. They've stated the charge: disturbance of the peace.
Now, I don't expect you to agree with them, but you should at least thoughtfully interact with the material presented.
Lupus--
The reason your comment is absurd is because we've not only stated the charges multiple times, we've also provided excerpts from the police reports in multiple videos (I can count 3 right off the top of my head, all different excerpts). It seems like you're not looking into anything, but just trying to rile people up.
And no, I didn't conclude anything. You'll know when I have.
-Nabeel
I was thinking, at next years festival, and yes I said next years festival, having some undercover brothers (and sisters) with camera's that can record your interactions without being detained by the STF might be a great addition. When you are arrested next year, and I fully anticipate you will be, you won't have to wait so long to out the STF for their lies and deception. It can almost be real time updates. I just imagine what is going to happen after the STF looses their shirts in court over violations of both civil rights and falsifying police documents and probably even false arrest. Next year the STF will most certainly erase any video to keep the truth down.
"As for a person who stirs up division, after warning him once and then twice, have nothing more to do with him, knowing that such a person is warped and sinful; he is self-condemned."
This is from Titus 3:10-11.
But back up to v.9 "But avoid foolish controversies and genealogies and arguments and quarrels about the law, because these are unprofitable and useless."
The context of this passage is division amongst the church brethren concerning the law and fruitless arguments on genealogies. To apply this passage at all to this situation is probably inappropriate exegesis. David and Nabeel's actions would not fit this particular admonishment because they are not intentionally stirring up division in the church with false teachings about God or the law. Nor have they gone around purposefully to argue with the body of Christ or with Christian leadership through endless (or aimless) fruitless questioning. Their actions are related to people outside the body of Christ and to a secular governing body. Here's some support from commentaries:
(next post)
Here's the Tyndale Bible Commentary on this passage:
A person who causes “divisions” (3:10; “factious man,” nasb; “heretic,” kjv) is one who argues foolishly without accurate Scriptural support.
The Bible Exposition Commentary:
Problem People (Titus 3:9–11)
"We wish we did not have “problem people” in our churches; but wherever there are people, there can be problems. In this case, Paul warned Titus to avoid people who like to argue about the unimportant things of the faith."
Warren W. Wiersbe
And from the "A Commentary, Critical and Explanatory, on the Old and New Testaments":
In regard to verse 9, "Not so much direct heresy as yet is here referred to, as profitless discussions about genealogies of aeons, etc … which ultimately led to Gnosticism.
Strivings about the law = about the authority of the “commandments of men,” which they sought to confirm by the law (Tit 1:14; see on 1Ti 1:7), and about the mystical meaning of the various parts of the law in connection with the “genealogies.”
Verse 10. In this passage the word Greek word for heretic is used. "Heresy,” originally meant a division resulting from individual self-will; the individual doing and teaching what he chose, independent of the teaching and practice of the Church. In course of time it came to mean definitely “heresy” in the modern sense; and in the later Epistles it has almost assumed this meaning. The heretics of Crete, when Titus was there, were in doctrine followers of their own self-willed “questions” reprobated in Tit 3:9, and immoral in practice.
Unless you are claiming that they teach heresies (false doctrine), then this passage is not applicable to the current situation.

However, James 4:11-12 does apply here:
"Brothers, do not slander one another. Anyone who speaks against his brother or judges him speaks against the law and judges it. When you judge the law, you are not keeping it, but sitting in judgment on it. There is only one Lawgiver and Judge, the one who is able to save and destroy. But you—who are you to judge your neighbor?"
The Tyndale Bible Commentary:
"James 4:11–12 relates to the tongue analogy but more specifically to taking over authority that belongs to God alone. James exhorted believers to avoid slandering their brothers. He condemned a censorious, hypocritical judgment (cf. Matt. 7:1–5). He was not rejecting the appropriateness of judging others in proper contexts (cf. Matt. 18:15–18). His very letter is an example of proper, humble, and loving evaluations."

Nabeel, I apologize for not checking the facts before asking my question. I'm a human being, sometimes you get an idea and just run with it, whitout stopping to check whether the idea is a valid one. Seems like i've managed to run into a brick wall this time.
Again I apologize.
Lupus
Taryn, thanks: Can you give us any other e-mail addresses? For example, how about an e-mail address for Chief Haddad? An e-mail address for Michigan Attorney General Mike Cox would be good, too.
May I add: The primary election in which Atty. General Cox is running for the Republican nomination for Michigan Governor is on the same day as the evidence court date in this case--August 3.
I think I know where Lupus is coming from. He has obviously only seen the footage from Negeen's camera and has not bothered to watch the footage from Paul's. We know that for all Deerbornistan loyalists the evidence from a woman's camera is only equal to half that of a man's.
Precious, PRECIOUS brother Nabeel -
Perhaps you are a Doctor but PLEASE don't hold back from also being a TEACHER to others about how to interact with Muslims.
I think you're a called man. I KNOW that you're a blessed man and a blessing for many. HALLELUJAH!! HALLELUJAH!!
For months now you and David and crew have been blessing me but this video is like a Doctoral level presentation on successful interaction with the lost. Your preparation in study and prayer and fasting really is a key isn't it? That, and your huge, heart of love...
As the young people used to say "YOU ROCK!" (or more nearly, it's Jesus in you who rocks, doesn't He?).
THANK YOU, NABEEL! THANK YOU, DAVID! THANK YOU, PAUL! THANK YOU, PRECIOUS LITTLE NEGEEN!
THANK YOU ACTS 17 and ABN! THANK YOU FATHER GOD!
KAFIR AND PROUD! MAY JESUS CHRIST BE PRAISED!!

Sorry for the duplicate posts, everyone. I get a 'too large post error' and then it goes through anyway. Bah!
I guess I needed to be more concise. :-)
I hate to be the first one to say this, but I think the young men talking to Nabeel were "in on it." Here's what it looks like to me: A non-negligible portion of the Muslim population in Dearborn believes that it is _illegal_ to "preach" during the Arab festival, except from a booth at a prescribed location. Remember on last year's video, they yelled, "Your preaching place is at..." and then named an intersection. In this video, the young men, who start off rather hostile, say, "Preach to me." To my eye, that looks like a set-up, as though "preaching" in that place and at that time is illegal and as if this is a kind of a "sting" operation: "We'll entrap him into preaching; then the police can arrest him." Notice too that they don't seem very surprised when Nabeel is arrested. I would also point out that the existence of a "crowd" is the excuse the police are using for arresting the Dearborn Four. Now, that's ridiculous in itself: Think of all the times that controversial speakers have had their speeches shut down by mobs. But the speakers haven't been arrested! (It would be interesting to see what would happen if the police arrested, say, Ann Coulter because a "crowd was gathering" and growing dangerous at one of her scheduled talks!) But again, I think that the young men were part of the pre-set "crowd"--the idea being that a crowd was needed to excuse the arrest. I don't know exactly at what level all the collusion was going on, but the police report does say that they got numerous "complaints" about Nabeel and David, so it looks like they set it up as form a crowd, get you guys to "preach," then complain to the police about you, then the police arrest you, because "preaching" with a "crowd" around you is illegal at the Arab festival, right? Isn't it?
That's my take, anyway. And the police cooperated somehow. After all, they did make the arrest and are now trying to justify it.
Is Thomas More just giving them more rope with which to hang themselves before filing a civil rights lawsuit? Your enthusiastic supports are waiting eagerly to hear that _your_ suit has been filed!
Still keeping you guys in my thoughts and prayers. I loved the conversations between Nabeel and the Muslims asking questions. If anything this video is proof and a blow to DPD. Guys, keep doing what you're doing no matter what!
Are you planning to eventually put the video footage online in its entirety? I know it may take time and you are busy people but putting it all there would minimize the accusations of misrepresentation.
Lupus, I hope you are not implying that if the charge on the charge sheet were listed as "disorderly conduct" this arrest will be okay. The police cannot define discussing the deity of Jesus Christ calmly with a group of Muslims on a public street as "disorderly conduct" and arrest people. In fact, disorderly conduct laws have to be sufficiently restricted in scope and application that they do not violate the First Amendment's protections of freedom of speech, religion, and assembly. Moreover, courts have made it clear that people have to have reason to know in advance that their actions violate the law. "Disorderly conduct" isn't just "anything the police decide on the spur of the moment that they don't want you to do." The same is true of "disturbing the peace," which is sometimes considered a sub-category of "disorderly conduct."

63 comments and (aside from Lupus' non-criticism) not a critic in sight. Interesting.
Lupus,
No, you aren't the only one, but why take comfort in that since all the others seem to have retreated back to Deerbornistan?
Wow, how dare you talk about Jesus' love and divinity on the free streets of America! How dare you answer the questions asked of you by an audience that really seems to want to hear. You can't do that here. ( please "read in" the sarcasm )
Oh wait, I guess you really can't in Dearborn Michigan.
Shouldn't those in the crowd who were becoming agitated and cursing (according to the police report) have been the ones arrested instead of the Christians who were speaking peacefully??? They would have been the disorderly ones trying to incite a riot.Nabeel was being very calm in his demeanor. This arrest would be like me arresting someone because they were discussing politics in a public park and a crowd began to gather around them and ask questions.Arrest the agitators (which I did not see until after the arrest in the crowd) not the peaceful people dialoguing.
I am glad you guys handled the arrest on the scene peacefully and with humility. The court room is the place to dispute the arrest and win the battle not on the scene. That usually only makes matters worse.Nabeel's demeanor prior to and through the arrest strengthens an already strong case in favor of all of you.
I dare any Muslim to watch that video and still say with a straight face that these guys deserved to be arrested. I just don't understand this.
God bless you, brothers.
Dear brothers and sisters
I believe that God wants to use this TRIAL to prepare AMERICA Christians for the worse.
This TRIAL will open LOTS OF PRECEDENTS ... It might be the END of Sharia in America or the START for all Muslims to legally harass Christians.
Dear David and Nabeel - WE ALL were arrested with you this year and WE will be in Dearborn NEXT YEAR TO BE ARRESTED WITH YOU AGAIN ....
Blessings and take courage ...
Chad Groenhout,
Sorry if I wasn't clear...
Lydia McGrew, ok so disturbing the peace is a sub-category of disorderly conduct. I didn't know that. So I wasn't that way off when asking whether they were arrested for disorderly conduct. The thing with these kind of laws is that they are quite wide and subject to the arresting officer's judgement of the situation. Moreover, it's a misdeamenor and as such having now viewed the videos i think the police did the right thing (according to the specific charge).
Have any of you actually read what actions are covered by the law?
Are you questioning the law or the police officer's interpretation of the law?
"Moreover, it's a misdeamenor and as such having now viewed the videos i think the police did the right thing (according to the specific charge)."
It seems like you are not even watching the videos.
How in the world did you come to this conclusion? Please enlighten us.
Lupus,
Do you care to explain how a peaceful conversation constitutes "breach of peace"?...especially in light of the video evidence that has now been posted which shows Acts17 directly asking the police if they need to move their conversation, and the police telling them they are fine where they are.
To Joe,
Please read about Islam well before you say whatever. Islam emancipated human being. You do not enjoy the taste of Islam unless you are Muslem. Try to be a Muslem for one day only. The hate speech in some of the comments, means only one thing: the giant propaganiste of media in USA is able to twist the truth. And guess who own this media. By the way I swear to Allah that I sympathize with the American who hate Islam and Muslems, because they are simply victims of this propaganda.
Salamu alekom
