WAS CHRIST CRUCIFIED?

"Jesus was crucified" - Eye witnesses
"Jesus was crucified" - Christian and pagan historians
"It just appeared so" - Muhammad 600 years later in another place

And then you hear "60 years after Jesus is too long a date for the Gospels to be reliable".

Meanwhile...as a proof he brings "The women went to buy spices on Sabbath day and two days later", no more crucifiction. I should convert now. LOL.

If the crucifixion is merely Christian conjecture then why do many non-Christian scholars today believe that it happened? Are they merely following conjecture?

Adnan quotes James Dunn. Here is another quote from this scholar:

The baptism of Jesus and his crucifixion are considered to be two historically certain facts about Jesus.[9][10]James Dunnstates that these "two facts in the life of Jesus command almost universal assent" and "rank so high on the 'almost impossible to doubt or deny' scale of historical facts" that they are often the starting points for the study of the historical Jesus. “Oh, we Muslims don’t believe Jesus died” Ahmad said with an ease that seemed almost rehearsed.
“Why is that?” I responded. Of course, I already knew the answer. I had heard dozens of Muslims answer that question. But somehow I always felt it came off as too aggressive if I told them why they believed what they believed. Especially given the fact that I planned to immediately follow up by telling them that they’ve gotten it wrong. Better to let them answer the question. Plus, who knows, they might surprise me.
“Because the Quran tells us he did not die” Ahmad responded without hesitation.
He did not surprise me.
“Where exactly does it say that?” I asked.
Here Ahmad started to fumble. “I’m not sure exactly. My imam could show you”.
“I’ve read a little of the Quran. Mostly the passages that relate to Jesus. Is it the passage that says, ‘The Jews say in boast, ‘We killed Christ Jesus’… but they killed him not, nor crucified him, but so it was made to appear to them’?” I offered.
“Yes! Yes, that is it!” Ahmad exclaimed as enthusiastically as if he had quoted the verse himself.
“Well, that passage doesn’t actually say Jesus didn’t die” I said.
“What?” Ahmad stared blankly at me.
“It doesn’t say he didn’t die. It just says that the Jews didn’t kill him” I explained. “And the Bible agrees with that” I continued. “Technically, it was the Romans who killed Jesus. The Jews even said that they didn’t have the authority to kill him. That’s why they brought Him to the Romans. So, the Bible and the Quran don’t disagree on that point.”
“I’ve never heard that before” said Ahmed.
Seeing an opportunity to take the conversation in a slightly different direction I added, “Of course, Jesus said, “No one takes my life from me. But I lay it down of my own accord. I have the authority to lay it down and the authority to take it up again.”
Ahmed cocked his head a little to one side and widened his eyes, “Really? He said that?”
“Yeah, he did. You see, Jesus’ death wasn’t a defeat. It was His plan from the beginning. God’s plan. And you have to remember, He didn’t stay dead. He rose again! He defeated death!”
“But I don’t understand. Why would he want to die?”
“Well, I don’t know if ‘want’ is exactly the right word but it was part of His plan. You see scripture tells us that there is no forgiveness of sins without the shedding of blood. That the wages, or penalty, of sin is death. God is perfectly just and must judge all sin. Jesus took that punishment on Himself at the cross. He died so that we don’t have to. If we place our faith in Him, that is.”
Ahmad shook his head. “That doesn’t make any sense. Why would God punish someone else for my sins. How is that justice?”
Well, scripture tells us that when we place our faith in Jesus we are united to Him. There are a few different analogies that scripture uses but think about this: If I were to get married and my wife had $20,000 worth of school loan debt from before we got married, that debt is now my responsibility. Not only that but my wife now has access to all of the wealth (which in my case is not very much. Ha!) that I bring into the marriage. It is our union that make me responsible for her debt. It a similar sort of way, our union with Jesus, through faith, makes it possible for Him to rightly take on the responsibility of our sin debt and it also gives us access to His new resurrection life. We have His life living in us.”
“I’ve never heard anyone explain it like that before."

Was Jesus crucified?

Most Christian New Testament scholars believe that Jesus was crucified. Many non-Christian NT scholars believe that Jesus was crucified. Some NT scholars do not believe that Jesus was crucified. But I don't know of any respected NT scholar, Christian or non-Christian who believes that it only appeared to the Jews that Jesus was crucified.
