Are There Numerical Miracles in the Qur'an? Shabir Ally vs. David Wood

When Muhammad was challenged as to why he couldn't perform miracles, he responded by claiming that the Qur'an itself is a miracle. This claim has led Muslims to try to find something miraculous about the Qur'an. Muslims such as Shabir Ally now insist that the Qur'an is filled with mysterious numerical patterns (e.g. patterns of the number 7). Is this good evidence, or can such patterns be found in any book? In this short video, Shabir Ally and David Wood discuss the evidence. (Clips are taken from "Does Muhammad Give Us the Truth about Jesus?")

Shabir, the devil is quite smart and can count to seven too you know. “Astonishing patterns of seven” is not evidence that the Koran comes from God.

Dr. Allay; no one can find God thru number and it makes no sense. Like you Dr. David also presented number game in the Bible. Did you get any sense out of this argument to proof existence of True God in any book? Message of Quran or the Bible would proof existence of God in that book. Miracles are unexplainable. If Quran would have been dropped from heaven in front of witness like God divided water of Red Sea in front of Israelis, Jesus brought back life to three day old dead Lazarus etc., then it would have been miracle, we would believe Quran. But Quran is totally void of miraculous power of Almighty God. People believe Jesus because of His possession of godly power. Even Muhammad acknowledged Jesus’ miraculous power.

What is the rationale for Almighty God, who hanged the world in vacuum in space, would surprise us thru Quran which is full of violent, and fulfilment of sexual urge for Muhammad? I am surprised about your wisdom being an academic scholar for doing argument for argument sake.

Back in the 90's there was a computer whiz who 'discovered the miracle of number 19' in the Qur'an. Dr. Rashad Khalifa an Egyptian professor at the university of Arizona became an overnight sensation. Muslims around the globe were so happy, so proud that finally an academician working in an American university came up with the infallible proof that the Holy Qur'an was a miracle that can only come from Allah.

After the initial euphoria amongst the Muslims, the good doctor stated that Surah At Taubah - the 9th Surah has been falsified! The reason for this was that the verses of the Surah could not be divided by the number 19! Rashad Khalifa then stated that the last 2 verses must have been added. He further declared that he was the new prophet of Islam.

Dr. Khalifa was assassinated in his own mosque after one faithful Friday prayer. Muslims around the world still believe of the miracle of number 19 as proof of heavenly origin of the Qur'an.

Did Shabir.. also brought up this number games.. with Jay Smith previously.. but at that time the miracle number was 19!

Someone also stated, I believe Jay smith asked.. "which koran version"?

By the way, the only mention of number 19 in the whole Qur'an is in relation to the number of angels that guard Jahannam or the Islamic hell.

If only Muslims realise that the numbering of the verses of the Qur'an was only started in recent centuries. I understand that the verse numbering system is not adhered to religiously by different groups of Muslims. One would surmise that some Qur'an version might be more amenable to the miracle of number 19 than others.

My own 'miracle number' in the Qur'an as well as in other scriptures is ONE.

I remember seeing some ornamental fixture, a candle-holder maybe, or perhaps a pair of candle-holders, full of diamonds, in the Topkapi Palace in Istanbul, and the sign said it/they had a diamond for every verse of the Quran, and this amounted to 6666 diamonds. Though it impressed me, it looks too Satanic for me to have anything to do with that book. What would Shabir say?

Apparently Quran verses have been numbered differently over the centuries, so it may be best not to attach too much significance to it.

Following up on our friend Ignatius' comment on 666, this other observation was brought to my attention just recently. The Bible in Revelation says that the "mark of the beast" would be on the receiver's forehead. And then the Quran says those who pray to Allah fervently will have that prostration mark on their foreheads. Maybe it's just me, but I don't think this is a coincidence.

Surely the Qur'an has undisputed numerical miracles.

Like the one where on division of an inheritance, in certain cases you miraculously end up distributing more wealth than you actually have.

Should have used this when handing in my Maths homework. 'It's not an error Sir, it's a miracle'.
