I hope Theresa Corbin would tune in with a bag of popcorn, hopefully to learn a thing or two on how to contextualise Islamic sources.

Hey David, I saw your live stream this morning! Great job brother! Just wondering if you're gonna do a context video on Surah 9:5 as well, like the one you did with Surah 9:29? Was having a discussion with Muslim online and this is what he had to say. Would appreciate it if you or any other brothers or sisters here could provide some input on this.

Qur’an 9:5
Then, when the sacred months have passed, slay the idolaters wherever ye find them, and take them (captive), and besiege them, and prepare for them each ambush. But if they repent and establish worship and pay the poor-due, then leave their way free. Lo! Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.

Muslim said: "its because the idolaters broke the treaty of Hudaibiah in the 1st place, not the muslims!

In 630, the clan of the Banu Bakr, allied with the Quraish, attacked the Bedouin Khuza'a, Muhammad's allies. Muhammed considered the Banu Bakr attack a breach of the treaty, citing one of the clauses of the treaty: "an attack on an ally of the party, will be considered an attack on the party itself", and offered the Quraish three alternatives:

1.Dissolve their alliance with the Banu Bakr
2.Compensate by paying money
3.Dissolve the treaty

Does this kind of debate actually change anybody's mind?

@ Matt,
Knowledge is foundation to choose right path for eternal life, like knowledge about a product help decide buying the product from comparative market. In David's talk show both Christian and Muslim value is analyzed critically according to Bible and Quran. Definitely it helps many people choosing right path with knowledge and understanding. Christ says you know the truth and truth will make you free. It is universal truth. Choice is yours whether benefited or not.
