Islam, the Kaaba, the Black Stone, and Idolatry

Muslims often accuse other religions of idolatry. Yet Muslims bow down to a pagan temple called the "Kaaba" (which is what the pagans of Arabia did before the rise of Islam); they take a pilgrimage to the Kaaba (which is what the pagans of Arabia did before the rise of Islam); they walk circles around the Kaaba (which is what the pagans of Arabia did before the rise of Islam); and they kiss the black stone embedded in the corner of the Kaaba (which is what the pagans of Arabia did before the rise of Islam). Should our Muslim friends be accusing anyone of idolatry? Glass houses!

That people, who are made in God's image (Genesis 1:27), should bow down to inanimate stone idols, would have to be, as we see in the Scriptures, a very serious blasphemy and abomination in God’s sight.

It would be better if Muslims would destroy these stone idols and save themselves from God’s judgement on all idolaters.

…murderers, whoremongers, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire… Revelation 21:8

Notice that idolaters are lumped in together with the murderers, whoremongers and sorcerers etc. which tells us that our righteous Holy Creator is not to be trifled with in regard to idolatry, such as we find in connection with the Kaaba and the Black Stone.

"Should our Muslim friends be accusing anyone of idolatry?"

Especially when they don't even know what they're talking about. Mary, a part of the trinity? Bah! While I expect an illiterate 7th century trader to make that kind of blunder, i'll never understand how a supposed god let his messenger run around spouting such a blatant lie. In fact, how is it that a book that is supposedly to have always existed and that's considered to be protected by God of corruption or errors has such a false claim in it?

I must admit that the Torah had me completely fooled. I never realized that it was predicting the coming of a stone-kissing prophet.

If Yahweh commanded Abraham to build the Kaaba in Mecca and call on humanity to perform the Hajj then why is there absolutely no mention of this in the Bible? Why is there no record of the Israelites or their prophets ever performing this pilgrimage? Why are Muslim attempts to find evidence for Allah's House in the Bible so desperate?

Kaaba to Muslims are just a building . they do not slave to Kaaba nor to the black stone. you have a misunderstand. to travel from your country to Saudi Arabia to pilgrimage is like to go in a camp . In this camp you will learn to be a strong Muslim who can fight all evils in his word and to maintain him self in the right way. During this camp you will go through hard difficult training jobs . you will fight to seek your god satisfaction. so all what you do around Kaaba and during pilgrimage are not for idolatry .all of these worships are for train your spirit how to fight evils and to gain forgivness from your god. pilgrimage is a great way to worship . you are not alone , million people are with you .all of them came to achieve the same goal,god forgiveness. All of them say the same words ( god we are here to answer your call, you are one , you are the owner of every thing, thank you for all favors that you gave to us). All people are united at this trip .they all wear the same clothes.no difference between them . poor people beside rich people ,white people beside black people. all are together , from different places , speak in different language, all have the same goal (Allah forgivness). All do the same jobs at the same time . how great is that way for worship?!how great is Islam?!

Great words to save the trademark of not to be an Idol worshiper. I had some queries for all human cultures or religions. Which religion said that their are 2 gods? If Haj is a camping place then come to India all will get many testing pilgrimages and camping places where you may test your physical or mental strength and learn to fight your evils. In Islam it was mentioned that ALLAH is ONE and he is everywhere. If it is then why to go to Mecca to find the Gods Satisfaction. You can get the satisfaction by doing good deeds too. The GOD is in you, you need not to find anywhere else. The day you stop finding him and pray for humanity, you can feel God is with you. I pray for Hindus, I pray for Muslims, I pray for Christians, I pray for Jews, I pray for Sikhs, I pray for whole humanity. If you are a true worshiper then don't say that you are not a Idolatry.

Worshiping God Through Images is Entirely Biblical
Iconoclasm (opposition to images) is a false tradition of men that was officially condemned by the Church long ago.
Dave Armstrong
Sometimes we miss things in the Bible, though they are right in front of us. Some of our Protestant brethren (mainly Calvinists but some other denominations as well) have an almost obsessive fear of any image associated with worship at all, thinking that all such manifestations are examples of idolatry and undue exaltation of a “graven image”.
In other words, all images whatsoever are collapsed in this wrongheaded mentality into the category of the “graven image” in the Ten Commandments. But the Bible doesn’t take this view at all. Here is one striking example:
Exodus 33:8-10 (RSV) Whenever Moses went out to the tent, all the people rose up, and every man stood at his tent door, and looked after Moses, until he had gone into the tent. [9] When Moses entered the tent, the pillar of cloud would descend and stand at the door of the tent, and the LORD would speak with Moses. [10] And when all the people saw the pillar of cloud standing at the door of the tent, all the people would rise up and worship, every man at his tent door.
Note that the pillar of cloud is:
1) a creation (water, if a literal cloud);
2) visual, hence an image;
and
3) thought to directly represent God Himself.
It’s also a supernatural manifestation, which is a major difference compared to any true idol made by the hands of men; but that would make no difference for those who mistakenly hold that any image whatsoever associated with God is impermissible.
The Bible mentions a pillar of cloud and also a pillar of fire (by night), representing God (see: Ex 13:21-22; 14:24; Num 14:14; Neh 9:12, 19). It doesn't always state that the people worshiped God through the supernatural image-pillars, but we know from Exodus 33:8-10 that it was entirely permissible to do so; certainly not “idolatry.”
The problem (for certain Christians who don't like images) comes when God Himself expressly sanctions such images, and worship in conjunction with them, as here. The same iconoclasts (opposers of images) have to explain away things like the burning bush (Ex 3:2-6), which is not only fire, but also called an “angel of the Lord” (Ex 3:2), yet also “God” (3:4, 6, 11, 13-16, 18; 4:5, 7-8) and “the LORD” (3:7, 16, 18; 4:2, 4-6, 10-11, 14) interchangeably.

The kabah was built by Abraham not the pagan arabs .We do not worship it but face it during prayers for uniformity in direction.You (christians) rather worship idols. You make pictures of Mary and Jesus and pray to them whiles the 2nd commandment says you should not make statues of anything on land ,sea or sky and worship them.Besides none of you has seen Jesus nor God so if you claim they are one why make pictures of them and pray to it?And the pagan arabs did not bow to the kabah they biwed to the idols they put in it . Islam simply erased the corruptions the pagan arabs made about the kabah and brought back Abraham true hajj rituals.
