Crossan the Line of Sanity

On Saturday, April 5th, a guy who doesn’t believe the Gospels (John Dominic Crossan) will be debating another guy who doesn’t believe the Gospels (Shabir Ally) on the historicity of Jesus in the Gospels. If that makes sense to you, then you are not going to want to miss this debate.

In other news:

For you late-nighters, when the clock hits midnight on March 31st, the Pope will be sharing his life-experiences on the blessed estate of matrimony, followed by his foolproof, step-by-step method on releasing doves. For those who won't be able to attend the event, it will be live-streamed after the fact at the following link.

Also, Bart Ehrman will be delivering two lectures: 1) Why God Lets Bad Things Happen to Good People; and 2) How to Persevere in Faith Through Suffering. These events will take place at Makesnosense University on April 1st. The first twenty people to sign up for these lectures will receive a free copy of Ehrman's soon to be released book, How Textual Criticism Debunks the Myth that the Qur'an Has Been Perfectly Preserved and a companion CD, tentatively titled - "Why I No Longer Value My Life."

I've seen Crossan speak. My money's on Shabir, no matter what the topic is. (Shabir could argue that the sun sets in a muddy pool, and he would win against Crossan.)

David, maybe they can debate if the sun goes around the earth, like in this new video from MEMRTV;

Agree with mr Wood

Shabbir Ally is more advance in the way of thinking. He's so good in reintepration (although some of us may consider that as twisting facts & words). Plus his humble appearance & in adressing point. The way he talk really makes me respect him very much. I'm wondering if the event will be recorded...

& Shabbir Ally have always being my refference to strengthen my faith in Christianity. It's becoz he always brought up a relevant & make-sence argument against the Bible. I think he's also a tool from God, for our Christian brothers & sisters to look deep for the truth of Christianity to defend it, huh.?

BTW, concerning about mr Ally's 'styles' in debate, honestly I think if mr Sam Shamoun can apply that standard of soft-spoken, relax & humble way in addressing matters, he would be unbeatable ever! From my pov, in their recent debate, mr Shamoun really built his case. But many will say he got owned by mr Ally. Not becoz mr Ally's point was stronger, but becoz the way they present their point. Our charisma in appealing the audience's favor also count in debating. Esspecially against someone as brilliant as mr Ally. & not meant to undermine, but mr Shamoun is lacking in this attitude. I keep praying for him. May God bless u all guys...

Hi Jonas,

One point of correction. Sam's debate with Shabir was not recent. In fact, it was Sam's first formal debate.
