Could someone explain the difference between the Islamic view of predestination as it relates to the cause of sin and the Christian Calvinist view of predestination?

Hi Tesseronie,

Perhaps the following account from Samuel Zwemer will be of some help. Zwemer was a Reformed/Calvinist Christian who had an excellent knowledge of Islam.

Hi & I must say that you guys are doing a great job by spreading the Gospel of Yeshua. God bless you !!!!
I have a muslim friend on facebook he's actually a muslim-convert.So we every now & then have a discussion about the trinity, Islam vs. Christianity & deity of Christ & things like that.I gave him a verse from genesis in support of the existence of the doctrine on the OT,Gen .1:26 God (elohim) said “let us make man in our image, according to our likeness…” those engaged in this conversation were all the same in nature and image. God could not have been speaking to any heavenly creatures because none of them possesses a divine nature like his. We know later there were Divine Persons.I presented before him numerous verses where God shows His plurality. But he retaliates saying that since Hebrew being a middle-eastern language unlike the English language has not only plurality of numbers but also plurality of respect, the verses are just showing respect to God almighty & thus there's no trinity in the OT.
Can you guys please help me answer this argument to my Muslim pal, if you don't mind?
THANKING YOU,
CLINTON JOSEPH

Hi,
Gen .1:26 God (elohim) said “let us make man in our image, according to our likeness…” those engaged in this conversation were all the same in nature and image. God could not have been speaking to any heavenly creatures because none of them possesses a divine nature like his. We know later there were Divine Persons.
One of my Muslim friends on Facebook says that the Hebrew language unlike the English language not only has plurality of numbers but also plurality of respect. So, the verses which I presented before him showing the existence of the Trinity In the OT,he says concerning them that those verses were written in due respect of the almighty & not showing the plurality of God.
(Like Elo'him=lords & & so on)
Can you please comment on this & help me answer his argument?
Thanking you,
Clinton

Thank you all, Anthony, Sam, David, and CL for taking time out to appear on ABN and be a witness to Christ, especially to your intended target, the Muslims.

I enjoyed the 3 days you guys were on, although I didn't get to watch every episode uninterrupted. However, I will watch them again with no interruptions. There is always something I miss in the first viewing anyways.

God bless you and your families.

Good to hear from you. I hope all is well with you. Thanks for the encouragement. Hopefully we will be back in your neck of the woods some time later this year.
