Qur'an Preservation Pamphlet Now Available in Qur'an Tab

A while back, I took up a collection to have some pamphlets printed. We distributed a portion of the pamphlets (along with a few dozen copies of Keith Small's book Holy Books Have a History) at Rutgers University and elsewhere. I said I might make the remaining tracts available for people who want to order them. However, since the Dearborn Arab Festival is next month, I'm going to bring the rest of the batch to Dearborn (anyone joining us for the outreach will get a pile of them!). For those of you who would like a copy, or would like to print some out, I've linked to the file in the Qur'an tab above. A pastor requested I leave a blank space on the back of the pamphlet so churches and ministries can add their contact info; hence, there's a blank space on the back.

And in case you haven't seen the video version . . .

David,

I don't live too far from Rutgers. I'll be more than happy to go out and make disciples. How can I get in contact with you?

Mazin is obviously a brilliant guy.

Anyone who has heard David in debates knows he knows a lot about the Qu'ran.

@Mazin what translations are wrong?

Do you have any evidence Nabeel was paid to make video?

How much do the Saudi Barbarians pay you to respond to Christian blogs?

Mazin said...

@Witness
thanks for your response
The first thing is when talking about islam i am not representing saudi arabia, but my self.
I liked David debates, but i don't agree with most of what he is saying because it does not make sense to me, not because i am a blind muslim and believe whatever Written in the Quran and Prophet Muhammed said but because he is not telling the right stories and he don't know what the Quran mean. especially the story of dhul qarnayn which is completely wrong and you can ask any Muslim Kid about the right one. and there is a lot of other things i don't have the time to mention it but i will be very glade if i have the time to answer any of your question.

Just finished reading the pamphlet, interesting to see there is no evangelism in here, right to the subject and on point. Meaning they have no excuses to bring up Jesus or the Bible or anything, so they can't run from the topic.

@Mazin
I think that's where the problem lies. There are many books to refer in islam, so stories might differ. If you don't agree with David and other apologists why not have discussion with them with an open heart. Present all your facts to lead them to the truth if your facts are true. These guys have spent years doing the research about islam that they know all what's written in islam references that their research has shocked normal muslim who doesn't really study deeper about what they believe.

We would love to hear the "right story" and tells us what the quran means, but plz use reliable sources as David uses... i mean it we would love to hear it since it seems to be even "a muslim kid" can say it.

"The story about dhul qarnayn"?

I assume that refers to the part where he came to the lake where the sun sets into and then a people that lived next to this lake without shelter from the bright light of the sun that sets in this lake?

018.086
PICKTHAL: Till, when he reached the setting-place of the sun, he found it setting in a muddy spring, and found a people thereabout. We said: O Dhu'l-Qarneyn! Either punish or show them kindness.

018.089
PICKTHAL: Then he followed a road

018.090
PICKTHAL: Till, when he reached the rising-place of the sun, he found it rising on a people for whom We had appointed no shelter therefrom.

Zack_Tiang said...

Then there's the other verse about the sun's "resting place".

036.038
PICKTHAL: And the sun runneth on unto a resting-place for him. That is the measuring of the Mighty, the Wise.

With the supporting Sahih hadith...

Sahih Bukhari, Volume 4, Book 54, Number 421:
Narrated Abu Dhar:

The Prophet asked me at sunset, "Do you know where the sun goes (at the time of sunset)?" I replied, "Allah and His Apostle know better." He said, "It goes (i.e. travels) till it prostrates Itself underneath the Throne and takes the permission to rise again, and it is permitted and then (a time will come when) it will be about to prostrate itself but its prostration will not be accepted, and it will ask permission to go on its course but it will not be permitted, but it will be ordered to return whence it has come and so it will rise in the west. And that is the interpretation of the Statement of Allah: "And the sun Runs its fixed course For a term (decreed). that is The Decree of (Allah) The Exalted in Might, The All-Knowing." (36.38)
http://www.cmje.org/religious-texts/hadith/bukhari/054-sbt.php#004.054.421

Sahih Bukhari, Volume 9, Book 93, Number 519:
Narrated Abu Huraira:

The Prophet said, "Whoever believes in Allah and His Apostle offers prayers perfectly and fasts (the month of) Ramadan then it is incumbent upon Allah to admit him into Paradise, whether he emigrates for Allah's cause or stays in the land where he was born." They (the companions of the Prophet) said, "O Allah's Apostle! Should we not inform the people of that?" He said, "There are one-hundred degrees in Paradise which Allah has prepared for those who carry on Jihad in His Cause. The distance between every two degrees is like the distance between the sky and the Earth, so if you ask Allah for anything, ask Him for the Firdaus, for it is the last part of Paradise and the highest part of Paradise, and at its top there is the Throne of Beneficent, and from it gush forth the rivers of Paradise."
http://www.cmje.org/religious-texts/hadith/bukhari/093-sbt.php#009.093.519

Sahih Bukhari, Volume 9, Book 93, Number 520:
Narrated Abu Dharr:

I entered the mosque while Allah's Apostle was sitting there. When the sun had set, the Prophet said, "O Abu Dharr! Do you know where this (sun) goes?" I said, "Allah and His Apostle know best." He said, "It goes and asks permission to prostrate, and it is allowed, and (one day) it, as if being ordered to return whence it came, then it will rise from the west." Then the Prophet recited, "That: "And the sun runs on its fixed course (for a term decreed)," (36.38) as it is recited by 'Abdullah.

Sahih Muslim, Book 001, Number 0299:
Abu Dharr reported: I entered the mosque and the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) was sitting there. When the sun disappeared (from the sight) he said: O Abu Dharr! Do you know where it goes? He (the narrator) said: Allah and His Apostle know best. He (the Holy Prophet) said. Verily it goes and begs permission, for prostration (to Allah) and the permission is granted to it. Once it would be said: Return to the place whence you came, and then it would rise from its setting place. Then he, after the recitation of 'Abdullah recited it: And that is its appointed term.

David,
Is there an article or post that explains the different reference systems of the Hadith?

The one you use - for example, Sahih Al Bukahri 4986 and 4987 corresponds to Sahih Al Bukhari volume 6, book 61, numbers 509 and 510.

I only know that just because I memorized the second system. That is also the common system used at the web-site for Hadith - "The Center for Muslim-Jewish Engagement"

http://www.cmje.org/religious-texts/hadith/bukhari/061-sbt.php

For other references, I would not be able to find the references on the Hadith web sites using your system.

Is "Ibn Abi Dawud, Kitab Al Masahif" - the same as the Hadith collection of "Sunan Abu Dawud" ?

Ignia said...

You know, I'm an Atheist. I came here following an Image link. And to find it, I had to scroll past your titles.

My keyboard is now imprinted on my forehead.

I can name historical events, in the past AND present, where Christians have done the exact same things. Holding Islam responsible for what its followers does hypocritical at best, considering the atrocities by your own faith (I’m assuming you’re Christian. You’re Christian, right? The Bible is my favorite book. I like works of fiction, too!)

Examples? Protestants killing Catholics (Bloody Mary, Queen of Scotts? She didn't get her name for the color of her doilies or her preferred drink of choice.)

I have a theory. Islam is about 300 to 400 years behind Christianity. Oh, joy- that means we have another 2 crusades to suffer through before they finally mature enough to settle down to name calling, hypocrisy, a few attempts at Genocide and the occasional mass shooting or bombings. You know, like the mature, Christian religion.

Or maybe, if we can quit bombing them at the drop of a hat, and get them to quit bombing themselves long enough to get some computers and a reliable internet set up over there that allows mass access to different ideas, we can skip the next two Crusades and go straight to women voting and working with the rest of us. They can keep their bombings and mass shootings I guess- FSM knows that Christians (Or even atheists and secularists, for that matter) haven't given up their shootings.

Of course, I haven't seen any Atheist religiously motivated shootings..... Anyway. I digress.

The Catholics and Protestants have been happily killing each other for as long or longer as the Shiites and Sunnis.

13 year old forced marriages? That's nothing. That was standard practice in American History and English history all the way back to the Dark Ages. "First blood" I believe was the time when girls were supposed to marry. Can't waste any of the fertile years, don'tcha know. And Mary and Joseph had to flee their home to Bethlehem because of the wonderful spa there. Not because she was going to be stoned to death if she stayed there.

Arranged marriages have been in existence for as long as men have considered women inferior- i.e., since Old Testament times and before- and have used women as property and their bodies as commodities as breeders- like livestock. The practice has been equally prevalent in Christianity, Islam, Judaism, Hinduism, Polytheism, and most any other "-ism" that you can come up with.

...Which goes to show that we're fighting biology here, not just religious nonsense. Horses and elephants have a matriarchal herd-mentality, iirc. Humans have a patriarchal herd mentality. (Why cheating is so prevalent- we're not biologically programmed to be lifelong partners- we're intellectually and emotionally encouraged to do so, but not biologically.)

We have a pastor of a Christian church not 20 miles from where I live who has just been convicted of raping half of the female children of his congregation. The entire congregation tried to cover it up. Oh, Freedom of the (local) press, how I love you.

The elder of another church down here raped his own daughter when she was 12. Still a deacon. Way to go, Christianity! (to be continued)

Ignia said...

(Continued)

Oh, oh, you want to talk about mass shootings? I'm sure that shooter in Oakland at the Christian School of nursing a few weeks ago was really a Muslim in disguise. Or Timothy McVeigh wasn't really a Catholic when he bombed the Oklahoma City building. Ted Bundy only lied about being a Methodist. Oh, wait, you were discussing religiously motivated killings, not just killings by Muslim people, right? Oh. Hmmm. Well, we got the bombings of the IRA throughout England and Ireland's history. I'm sure those weren't religiously motivated. Or the mosque bombings. But it has to be a mass shooting that was Christian religiously motivated- Oh! Anders Breivik, that Norwegian shooter that killed all the 15 and 16 year olds at the youth camp AND bombed the government building in Norway. That happened Last Year. Self-described "Christian Fundamentalist" who was trying to "Save Europe from Ethnic Cleansing."

The honor killings? I'm certain that I saw something about killing gay people in Uganda (by Christians) for their sexual indiscretions.

Educating women contrary to Islam? Sorry, that's been a Christian thing for a long time, too. This is just yet another step in the pattern of the Female Inferiority Complex.

"Convert or Die" "Kill the Infidels" etc. etc. Yeah, yeah, whatever, we've been getting that for ages. As a certified, Bona-fied Infidel, nothing new. It was actually begun as a monotheist thing. Definitely Christian. Frankly, the polytheists (heathens) didn't give a bent nail who you worshiped. Was all the same to them, and heck, if they liked your god, they might add it to their pantheon. But, to maximize income to the churches, you have to establish a monopoly. And to establish a monopoly, ya gotta get rid of the competition. Enter the "Convert or Die- it's God's will" clause. Proof: The Inquisition, Crusades #1-3, Salem Witch Trials, the very reason the Colonies were established in the first place, Bloody Mary, Catherine the Great, King Henry the VIII, the Conquistadores....

The Religious history is long and distinguished list of bloodshed, bigotry and hatred. What one invisible man said to some dude with psychosis out in the desert, or told him to sleep with his daughters, or told the daughters to sleep with the father, or whatever, this is ridiculous. You think Islam's the devil? If I believed in a Devil, I'd think Christianity is the devil. I do know it is Evil.

TL:DR version:

Islam and Christianity are equal, and no different from each other than the name of the invisible man ya'll pray to. The atrocities that you scream about in each other are equally valid about yourselves- and only the willfully blind or ignorant can ignore that.

Maybe I'll have a "Holy Book Burning Day."

Burn the Bible, the Qur'an, the Tinakh, the Tipitaka, grab a handful of the Hindu texts, the LOLcat bible... oh, hell. Might as well toss in the Pyramid Texts, the Gospel of the Flying Spaghetti Monster, and maybe a copy of one of the Atheist Manifestos tottering around out there just to keep it as an even hand. All the same to me.

I doubt the only people who have even a remote right to care- the people who made it, Westbow Press- would care if I used their product for toilet paper.

And the reasoning for burning them is the same for burning the Qur'an. It's all a book of lies.

David Wood said...

Oh how original. An atheist leaves comments in a post on whether the Qur'an has been perfectly preserved, and he starts rambling about Christian violence, showing that he's so completely hate-filled that he can't help but change the topic of a post in order to attack Christians. Yes, truly original. As original as the last 300 people who did it.

Rather than answer his individual points, let me address the overall claim.

I have never condemned Islam based on the actions of Muslims. If I were to condemn an ideology based on the actions of certain adherents, I would have to condemn every belief system in history, for anyone can be violent. (If our atheist friend would bother to read our posts instead of blindly launching his mindless attack, he would have known our position.)

I condemn Islam based on its teachings, which lead directly to violent actions. I point out the violent actions to show that some Muslims take the teachings of Islam seriously. (Again, if our friend had bothered to think before deciding to speak, he wouldn't have embarrassed himself.)

Ignia thinks we're being inconsistent, since we're not applying the same standards to Christianity. If Ignia weren't so utterly ignorant, he would watch the many, many debates we've done on peace and violence in Christianity and Islam, where we have repeatedly shown that whereas Christians are commanded to live in peace with everyone, Muslims are commanded to violently subjugate everyone.

But there's no difference between the two systems, according to our friend, because violence has been committed by adherents of both systems.

And now we see the hypocrisy. Ignia accuses me of judging religious systems based on the actions of adherents, when I never do this. Instead, Ignia is telling us that Christianity and Islam are the same, based on the actions of their adherents. So Ignia is the one judging systems based on the actions of adherents! Total hypocrisy!

Ignia says this: "Why cheating is so prevalent- we're not biologically programmed to be lifelong partners- we're intellectually and emotionally encouraged to do so, but not biologically."

And immediately after that feigns outrage at this:

"We have a pastor of a Christian church not 20 miles from where I live who has just been convicted of raping half of the female children of his congregation."

It's all in the genes, baby. The man wasn't biologically 'programmed' (I love it when atheists let their slip show) to woo a woman, as she said, only intellectually and emotionally encouraged to do so. So why is she complaining?

Far too many inconsistencies of this sort litter Ignia's post. She also seems to have glossed over the 20th century, the bloodiest on record. I guess atheists figured they had a lot of catching up to do.

Equivocation, very little particular knowledge, and unable to distinguish doctrines and actions. Oh, we have an atheist commenter.

It's a strange inconsistent world view to be atheist. They believe they can wander around condemning all different kinds of people for not adhering to the atheist's personal unwritten perfect code of conduct. Of course! If you have no standards, you can't be a hypocrite. But when they write down even a few bits of their beliefs about what is and isn't true, one just has to scratch their head.

They don't have any grounds to make a distinction between what is in accord with their beliefs as a group as a whole. There are plenty of atheism motivated atrocities.

Atheistic communism? It ought to be counted under a consistent atheistic worldview. There's nothing to point to and say there they are different than the rest of atheists, but they killed around 10 times as many of their own people in about a century as Christians have over the past two millenniums.

Timothy McVeigh? Someone who calls Science their religion and doesn't believe in God isn't a Christian. He may have been raised as a Roman Catholic Christian, but his own words proved he left Christianity to follow "Science" while pursuing his bloodthirsty goals.

Jared Lee Loughner? Pretty straightforward.

Anders Behring Breivik? He called himself a cultural Christian atheist, but he's not a Christian if he doesn't believe in God. And he wrote himself that he doesn't. He never ever called himself a Christian fundamentalist which this atheist decided to put in quotes like he had. I suppose telling the truth just isn't in this particular atheist's personal moral code.

Jim David Adkisson? ... Well you get the point.

Now the atheists first thought will be waaaaait a minute. I'm not a communist, disgruntled veteran, mad Norwegian socialist, or like regular old Jim who just hated Christians. Well, I'm not an 11-13th century Roman Catholic or an RC at all.

The sheer hypocrisy of listing someone like King Henry the VIII of England! A man who took his entire country out of a larger church causing untold amounts of bloodshed in sectarian violence just because he wanted to violate Christian morality and divorce his wives because he was shooting X's instead of Y's. Then he used that new freedom to start executing old wives. I really would think this person was joking if they hadn't written so much.

Any reasonable distinction the atheist puts forth will cut in both directions and because Christianity has a moral code, we actually know where we can draw the line whereas the atheist will attempt to cull off any disagreeables based on their own personal status, age, gender, race, and their current digestive state.

"And the reasoning for burning them is the same for burning the Qur'an. It's all a book of lies."

Now the coup de grĂ¢ce. They want to just nakedly assert it's all lies! All of it! No discernment or distinction between what is actually true and what is actually false. Yet what they have managed to do is list what happens when Christian doctrine is disregarded THEN to allege it's all falsehood (perhaps because of that? I can't tell) when so many of their own statements are just so easily and demonstrably false. You have honestly brought me to tears. Thank you. I needed a good laugh today.

I find atheists are sometimes even more willfully ignorant than Muslims.

Of course people have misrepresented Christianity and misused it to manipulate people. If people can do it with the greatest pacifist like Jesus christ than people can do it with anything.

But what is most appalling is, he cant present the evidence of Jesus ever telling anyone to kill someone, oppress, subjugate, slaughter, extort, but i could show you where Islams Allah commands all Muslims to subjugate, rape, slaughter, oppress, lie to, extort, steal, etc... in the Quran and Mohamed actions1

I'm well aware no one over here is going to change their views. And quite frankly, I don't care what invisible fairy tale it is that you consign your nonexistent self to after you become worm food. However, what you are doing is hurting a lot of people in the here and now. You're like chickens, pecking to death ones that aren't just like you.

More than anything else, watching this and reading this makes me sad. And angry. Very angry.

So much pain, hatred, death and destruction is caused in the name of something no one can prove exist. Why? Why do it? Why do you CARE what their Qur'an says? Hell, why do you care what your own Bible says? It was a book written 2,000 years ago, when they still believed the world was flat and you lost your soul when you sneezed.

What makes you think that your disregard to the Qur'an is seen as being any more welcome or heeded than my comments here? (Of course, I can back my comments up with linkable fact- or if not facts, the sources of my "misinformation"- though since I had already gone over the character count they were not included in the first comments. If you wanna see them, I'd be happy to post them for you.)

I do apologize for posting this on a random thread. I will bow to that- and admit freely I didn't read a single word of what was written in here. I still haven't; I have no respect for anyone who burns a Qur'an. Any more than a Marine would have respect to someone who burnt the American Flag.

Or a Christian would listen to someone who burnt a Bible.

Now Dan- I will be taking you up on your offer. I am willing to be educated. Show me the errors of my logic. If you are an Atheist, I have a chance of at least following it. I am willing to be proven wrong.

"Invisible fairy tale?" Then who cares whether people are being hurt in the here and now? You do? Why should anyone else? Are your views to be the standard for what's right or wrong, good or bad? So some people don't like it. So what! "There is no God!" Then there's nothing wrong in "hurting people."

"More than anything else, watching this and reading this makes me sad. And angry. Very angry."

An angry atheist. Now that's a rarity.

"So much pain, hatred, death and destruction is caused in the name of something no one can prove exist."

9/11. 7/7.

"Hell,"

Mmmm!

"..why do you care what your own Bible says?

Hell!

"It was a book written 2,000 years ago, when they still believed the world was flat.."

It says that? Maybe that's my way out. Can I join you in your unbelief? I'm looking for total hopelessness and pointlessness to our existence and boy, you got it! Just give me that ref' so I can start packing. Who'd want to follow something that's so obviously wrong anyway.

Then how are you commenting on what you've not read?

"I have no respect for anyone."

Hey, tough guy!

"Who burns a Qur'an?"

Qur'an haters.

"who burnt the American Flag?"

Qur'an believers.

Who let the dogs out?

"I am willing to be educated."

But you said, "What makes you think that your disregard to the Qur'an is seen as being any more welcome or heeded than my comments here? (Of course, I can back my comments up with linkable fact- or if not facts.."
