Compare the above bolded text about honesty, with Islamic teachings in support of Taqiyya (lying in defense of Islam), and Tawriya (creative lying under any circumstance).
I don't agree with everything Rod Bennett says in the book, but I'm really enjoying it. I'm still in the early part of the book. Bennett weaves an entertaining biography of several early Church fathers, interspersing wonderful quotations from their works.

Even if you could find these quotes in the Qu'ran, they would not mean the same in context of Mohammad's life. With Mohammad, there was always a loophole or an exception to every seemingly good deed he did or condoned. For example, Allah commands love, but it is only between other Muslims. If you quote that Allah loves, it is confined to Muslims only. All of the equivalent sayings in Islam are contextually different and are limited in scope to a specific situation. They are superficial when understood in context.
