Coptic Christians Brace for Sharia Takeover in Egypt

I don't get it. According to ABC News, life under Islamic rule is an interfaith paradise. Why would the Copts worry about living under Sharia?

CAIRO—Fears and worries murmur like prayers beneath the hammered crosses of the Church of the Virgin Mary.

"The whole country will collapse," says Shenouda Nasri.

"I'm trying to get my family out," says Samir Ramsis.

"This is the Islamists' time," says George Saied.

A caretaker sweeps the stones, a woman slips into a pew. But these days Egypt's minority Coptic Christians are finding little serenity. Islamist political candidates, including puritanical Salafis, are dominating parliamentary elections. Sectarianism is intensifying and the patriotic veneer that unified Egyptians in overthrowing longtime ruler Hosni Mubarak is threatened by ultraconservative Muslim clerics whose divisive voices had been suppressed by the state for decades.

"Our goal is to achieve an Islamic caliphate with Islamic sharia rules," Mohamed Zoghbi, a hard-line Salafi preacher, said this year on TV. "If Egypt becomes a caliphate, then the Middle East and Arab countries will follow our path. All Muslim youth should strive and die to build this caliphate even over their own bodies."

Copts are now anxiously watching a theological and political battle sharpen between Muslim parties that are expected to win at least 60% of parliamentary seats after the final round of elections in January. The struggle between the Salafis and the more moderate and popular Muslim Brotherhood will define an emerging political Islam and how deeply religion will be ingrained in public life.

That unresolved question is one of the most contentious in Islam. It has been energized as uprisings across the region have upended despots, leaving fertile ground for untested political voices that would have been unimaginable just months ago. It is a seminal moment for an Arab world that appears, at least for now, determined to reinvent failed secular governments through what clerics regard as the purifying prism of Islam.

"The Islamists have been unleashed," says Nasri, a pharmacist hoping to follow the lead of tens of thousands of Copts who have left Egypt this year. "You're talking about no rights for women. No rights for Coptic Christians. They'll make us more of a minority. It'll be like living centuries ago." (Read more.)

Arab Spring? More like Shariah Summer! Dar el Harb has begun to expand and will soon engulf many. The West, with their cries for democracy, won the war for these Arabs and, with their own hands, dug the grave for democracy and the graves of many innocents.

Lord help all of us.

I have said it before I say it again.

Instead of Churches spending money for mission trips, instead we need to be spending money preparing for a exodus.

Part of what galls me most is that my own nation is doing so little to provide refuge for persecuted Christians. Muslims? Oh, we welcome Muslims with open arms but Christian refugees? You have to bribe somebody that knows somebody that can BRIBE somebody...

Other commentors here could probably offer a whole LIST of organizations dedicated to helping preserve the lives of persecuted Christians who face death or a nightmare existence (because of Islam) but sadly, I can name only one.

Walid Shoebat is very much engaged in the effort to provide refuge for Christians over in Pakistan - and, of course, ABN is doing everything it can to provide refuge through information to people all over the world.

Prayer must always be our first choice on behalf of those being persecuted but it doesn't hurt to put some LEGS on those prayers with donations and volunteering.

If Humanity is to be saved from the nightmare of Islam, we will expend ourselves and our resources - entirely - to promote what is good and wholesome. Better to make that expenditure freely, now than to have everything taken from us by force and trampled by Islam.

When the Muslim Brotherhood is considered to be the more "moderate" group, then you have REALLY got a problem.

I'll be keeping our brothers and sisters in Christ in prayer.

I have to say this is a situation where an exodus might be appropriate. We know they intend on what amounts to genocide. Why are we waiting for this to happen. It is like watching Germany in WWII with the jews all over again. In the end generations later the children will ask "Why did you not stop it?" What will we answer I wonder?

Please go back to your mental insitution and tell your psychiatrist about it. Sick of hearing this.

Yes, what would the Copts know about living under Muslim rule? Surely they're basing their Islamophobic views on those deceptive Western websites.

If Muslims ever stop running over Copts with tanks, burning down their churches, and raping their daughters, perhaps the Copts will be able to think more clearly and realize that Islam is a religion of peace.

The irony is the rest with people who run loonwatch itself. danios challeged spencer to a debate face to face but Danios chose to remain anonymous so in reality danios chickened out. Its your religion isn;t it? why is Danios afraid to step up face to face with a debate? If he can;t step up it can mean two things:

1. he doesn;t know his stuff well
2. he isn;t strong enough with his faith and take up the standard.

his so called value in being anonymous is illogical.Because the above reason mentions why. Those who make claims should be ready to step up and back them up face to face.

Here is my evidence

Sorry, I don’t debate fictional characters or pseudonyms. “Danios of Loonwatch” can go debate Scot Harvath or Harold Robbins. I use my real name, have received numerous death threats, and cannot appear in public without guards, because so many coreligionists of “Danios of Loonwatch” misunderstand the teachings of his peaceful religion. What is “Danios of Loonwatch” afraid of? He knows that Noam Chomsky and Michael Moore can appear in public with no concern whatsoever, so why does he cower in the shadows?

In any case, “Danios of Loonwatch” has already discredited himself with his windy tu-quoque arguments about Christian doctrines that never existed and that no one has ever heard of, his defamation and outright lies about my owning domain names I never knew existed until he made the charge, and his refusal to acknowledge or correct false information he has posted. Debating such a compromised and dishonest individual would be a waste of time, but nonetheless, since Rehab invokes him and others have referred to his site recently, I am willing: if “Danios of Loonwatch” reveals his real name, finds a university willing to host the debate and contracts an impartial moderator, I’m ready when he is. But I won’t be holding my breath.

Here is Danios’ reply:

The latest set of excuses was that I must reveal who I am before a debate can take place. Spencer issued this pre-condition knowing full well that I value my anonymity too much to do that. He naturally thought that this was a creative way to get out of a debate with me while at the same time saving face.

Kim have you been watching the news--even a little bit.

These people have every right to fear. Their churches are burned. Their girls are raped. their boys are run over by tanks. Their lives are threatened on every side. If you can't see this, then you are choosing to turn a blind eye.

The massive Exodus of Copts from Egypt is already underway. My fiance is from Alexandria and she and her family fled Egypt due to the persecution of Christians in Egypt. They came to the US, and my fiance is seeking Asylum but was denied in court and now on appeal, and has been on appeal for nearly 2 years waiting. The US system is unfair when it comes to asylum cases, as we have seen many non-christian people walk into this country and get asylum in less then 30 days, yet our Coptic friends at church all cry out that the system is delayed, and difficult for Coptics. It makes no sense to me why!

Kim said...

Yes David as if Islam supports that....Willfully spreading the weong message to people to protect your wine yes.

Radical Moderate said...

Yes Kim thats why Coptic Christians are afraid, and fleeing Egypt. Because they want to drink WINE.

Yes Islam does support that in every way. It creates the attitude and commands it directly. We have proved it countless times day after day. And you are just willfully ignorant!

Those who reject (Truth), among the People of the Book and among the Polytheists, will be in Hell-Fire, to dwell therein (for aye). They are the worst of creatures. (98:6)

Muslims superiority

The Believers are but a single Brotherhood (49:10)

Ye are the best of peoples, evolved for mankind, enjoining what is right, forbidding what is wrong, and believing in Allah. If only the People of the Book [Christians and Jews] had faith, it were best for them: among them are some who have faith, but most of them are perverted transgressors. (3:110)

Permission to rape and subjugate!

Some of the Companions of the Apostle of Allah (may peace be upon him) were reluctant to have intercourse with the female captives in the presence of their husbands who were unbelievers. So Allah, the Exalted, sent down the Qur’anic verse: (Sura 4:24) "And all married women (are forbidden) unto you save those (captives) whom your right hands possess." (Abu Dawud 2150, also Muslim 3433)

Quran (9:29) - "Fight those who believe not in Allah nor the Last Day, nor hold that forbidden which hath been forbidden by Allah and His Messenger, nor acknowledge the religion of Truth, (even if they are) of the People of the Book, until they pay the Jizya with willing submission, and feel themselves subdued."

More hate and commands to persecute non Muslims!

Quran (9:123) - "O you who believe! fight those of the unbelievers who are near to you and let them find in you hardness."

And if you want evidence of it, read the pact of Umar and the tafsir of Ibn Kathir!

There is no established punishment for Muslims committing rape, murder, or forced conversion of non Muslims. You can do as you choose to us. And you see it all around the Islamic world!

Their lives are threatened on every side. If you can't see this, then you are choosing to turn a blind eye.

In 1933 and 1938, many Germans chose not to see this sort of thing.
Moderate Muslims?
There were moderate Germans in Nazi Germany.
It did not matter.
For Christians, wine is good.
For Muslims, who are forbidden wine, the bitterness of blood flows because they freely choose to shed it.
Blood today, fire tomorrow.
If you kill, or even silently facilitate it, you have already chosen the death that never ends.
The Copts are innocent.
Revelation 20.
They're spoken for already.

Ladies and gentlemen, Kim cannot really keep secret for long her fascism and bigotry that is so prevalent in Islam, and reveal how un-"moderate" she really is.

She believes that people who have no problem with drinking wine should be subjugated and prevented from drinking wine. She believes that people who are run over by tanks, rap-ed, kidnapped, killed, flogged and have their places of worship burned are not victims, but bring it upon themselves because they are dirty Kuffir and dare to drink alcohol.

Thank you for helping prove our case, Kim. We're grateful.

@ Kim

Please, you really should watch what you say. This is not a warning, it is a plea. You are refering to human beings, HUMAN BEINGS, not dogs. These people are falling to the sword of your religion, the ideals of your prophet, and the commands of your god. You turn justice into wormwood when you refer lightly to their plight. Where is your conscience?

God Bless.
