Yuce Kabakci Explains Why He Turned from Islam to Christ

Yuce Kabakci Explains Why He Turned from Islam to Christ

Have you ever noticed that there are lots of testimonies of Muslims becoming Christians after doing years of research and carefully considering the evidence, but when people convert to Islam, it's usually because they didn't bother to investigate the claims of Muslim Dawaganists at all? Ask a convert to Islam why he or she chose Islam, and you'll hear things like: "Oh, my friend told me that the Qur'an contains scientific miracles"; "I talked to some Muslims, and they said that the Qur'an has been perfectly preserved"; "I got tired of men checking me out in my miniskirt, but some Muslim sisters explained that the hijab will fix all that, because Islam respects women." Five minutes of actual research would refute these claims, but people don't bother to check the facts.

"So if the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed" (John 8:36).

I know you are joking with the whole "Off with his head" thing, but I don't think that it is appropriate to be joking about that especially when christians actually think we believe that non muslims should be killed by muslims.

With regards to the converts I have seen, they all claim that they became christian, not because it was the logical choice (which it is not), but because they wanted to feel the Love of christ and the sense of peace they have been missing. Now, Buddhists, muslims, and christians can all feel a sense of peace, but that does not make it the right religion.

Brother C.L said...

@ Kim you were right the first time per Muhammad he should be murdered, but if He is, God forbid, know that He would hold a place in God's heart that all the salat, wudoo, zakat, fasting, hajj, jihad, and thikr you could possible do could never earn you.

Revelation 20:4 (NASB95) Then I saw thrones, and they sat on them, and judgment was given to them. And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded because of their testimony of Jesus and because of the word of God, and those who had not worshiped the beast or his image, and had not received the mark on their forehead and on their hand; and they came to life and reigned with Christ for a thousand years.

That's the difference between Islam and Christianity.

Islam is all about man, man, man... human effort..

Christianity is about relationship with God.

If you rather have works than a relationship with God, so be it, Samatar. Go ahead and continue to work for the unknowable, transcendent Allah and his still-dead messenger.

Brother C.L said...

@ Samatar Mohamed what you think is pointless we know what your Prophet said.

As far as your comment about "logic" and "feelings", I am EX Muslim and I have tons of Logical reasons why I left, but as far as feelings, if they are so worthless then your lord allah made a big mistake when he created them!

You are right "feelings" played a role in my leaving Islam, I wanted a God who is the Lord of my complete self, mind body emotions and soul. You can keep your souless dead beat dad god, yep my FATHER..read it again FATHER loved me while I was a gospel hating sinner making fun of His SON, My FATHER didn't hold His love back from me until I did enough good works to reached the mythical level of ihsan.

My point on feelings is that anyone can claim they feel at peace etc... I know Buddhists who say they feel at peace in the world. I as a muslim feel an unbelievable connection to God when I wake up in the early morning to bow down in worship to him. I also have laws and regulations that God prescribes to me to live a meaningful life by putting him above everything in my life. Does this make Islam the true religion. I say no, rather it is the logical deduction that suits me the best. And can you tell me some of the logical reasons you became a christian.

Brother C.L said...

@ Samatar Mohamed

I agree with that sentiment, feelings alone do not prove anything. But my point still stands Allah of the Quran is know ones Father in any sense of the word, he doesn't want to relate to anyone like a Father in any sense of the word. You may "feel" peace in Islam to a degree, but you know nothing of the relational experience of the Born again believer..there is nothing in Islam to make a analogy with.

Well one logical reason I am Christian and not Muslim is because there is no way to ever know if one has salvation in Islam until you actually face Allah on the day of judgement, and at the point its up to Allah's wasiya. A religion that offers no surety of salvation is useless.

Those people who I ask why they convert to Islam. They commonly respond me. I add your lists:
1. Trinity is NO make sense that all. Islam is believe in ONE God that is rational !
2. Jesus is both God and human. Moreover, God can die?? Silly ! Jesus is prophet that is more rational

I found few people doing research, then choose Islam. I know one guy is Reza Aslan. Reza claimed he was converted to evangelical christian at 15 years old. He went to the catholic school for Biblical studies. It shock him. Later he revert to Islam. Here is link

What is your opinion about Reza Aslan?? Thank you, Bro

Just imagine if non-Muslims treated Muslim this way. They would be the first to cry out racism, intolerance, oppression, etc. Funny how they would not be able to live by their own standards without having to call themselves hypocritical. Of course, they would not call themselves such a thing; instead, they would quickly blame the Jews, Christians, or whomever else they detest. Islam, the religion of bigotry and irony!

Agreed, although I have never been anything but a Christian.

" Well one logical reason I am Christian and not Muslim is because there is no way to ever know if one has salvation in Islam until you actually face Allah on the day of judgement, and at the point its up to Allah's wasiya."

Yep, that is a big problem. If God can't assure His followers that they will be saved, then the adherents have to keep doing self righteous works to try to both please and appease God.

Well, the answer often given by Muslims is that if you know for sure, you have no need to continue to please God; therefore, you can sin and get away with it, as often stated in opposition to Jesus' death and resurrection which culminated in our sins being forgiven upon repentance. They see the need to add their own works of righteousness as some kind of bribe for God (my analogy). It is natural for man to think that if they aren't contributing something, they are not participating. To me, this is one of those paradoxes that Jesus taught that baffles the unregenerate.

"A religion that offers no surety of salvation is useless."

I don't know about useless, but definitely nonsalvific.

IMHO, what you say doesn't make much sense in the context of what David is talking about. In our age of search engines you can find anyone turning to anything, and that doesn't prove anything at all.

The point is that when you study the matter carefully, you come to a sure conclusion that very many Muslims turn to Christ on the basis of studying the evidences, and Christians turn to Islam on some other grounds.

My observations lead me to the same conclusions.

I find this response telling in that it is in response to a video about a former Muslim who came to faith in Christ based not on "feelings" but on a rational examination of the evidence.

Is this an attempt to subjugate that fact in your mind? Console oneself by thinking "Ahem, well, most converts I've met said it was because they felt this way and that!"

Do you have anything to say in regards to Yuce Kabakci's intellectual pursuit of truth?

Remeber, that according to Islam, all muslims who said the Shahada with sincere belief will enter paradise at some point in time. Therefore, there is salvation as a muslim. However, a muslim who does not repent from his sins will be punished for the sins they commited through several means of punishments like the grave, or the soul being taken out violently etc... Now let me turn this back on you, C. Now that you are saved by christ, do you have the right to do any sin that you want, like murder, rape etc... Because, you wont be punished for those sins seeing as Jesus(pbuh) was given as a ransom for your sins from the father. And the reason muslims do not treat God like a father is because he is not our father, but our creator.

Why did you put all of those spaces in between? I wonder if you tried to trick us by doing that? If you are honest with yourself, you will have to admit that it looks like you had ended your text on the first line. Your reply should have been to the effect that I made so many spaces between my lines that it looked like I had finished on the first line.

Instead of admittance, you try to play it off as if we were supposed to see that big gap of space and not think that your were finished. I simply saw the first line and scrolled a few lines down and thought that there were no more lines or text below. I was expecting to see another post immediately a few lines below. Your response reminds me of how Muslims never seem to admit that they are wrong in matters and place the blame on others when it should be evident that the Muslim has a part in the problem itself.

@ Samatar Mohamed here is a comment i made to another Muslim last night

Quran Surah 19:70-732 Then We shall pluck forth from every party whichever of them was the most hardened in disdain of the All-merciful; then We shall know very well those most deserving to burn there. Not one of you there is, but he shall go down to it (wariduha); that for thy Lord is a thing decreed, determined. Then We shall deliver those that were godfearing; and the evildoers We shall leave there, hobbling on their knees.

Clearly your lord wants to put you and everyone in hell FIRST and FOREMOST then based on his will take you out, and that is depended on if your good deeds exceed your sin on the meezan ..question how many Sins do you have right now vs good deeds?

Since every deed has two pillars that must be established in order for Allah to accept them, having pure sincerity and the deed being done according to the pure Sunnah, how exactly do you know you have done even one deed that fulfills Allah's requirements?

Even your Eman is a deed, a act of worship that must meet Allahs demands, there is not a Muslim who has lived that knows for sure if their claim to have eman is accepted by Allah or not..

"These bedouins say that they are mo’mins. O Prophet! Tell them that you do not have Iman. You have only accepted to surrender (to Islam). Iman has not yet entered your hearts." (49:14)

Thats why Muhammad's own Sahabah had to worry about their ultimate fate, Abu Bakr on his death bed wished he never lived and was a bird instead so he would not have to face judgement

“O bird! How fortunate are you! You eat the fruit of trees; you sit in their shade and you will attain salvation in the Hereafter without having to give an account. I wish Abu Bakr too was like you.”

Shaykh Abdur Razzaaq Ibn Abdil-Muhsin al-Badr (The Son of the Emir in Hadeeth sciences in Hijaz) said the following....

"“It is befitting that we make note that the Muslim has no way of being sure that his actions are accepted no matter how well or good he has done in performing the action. Allaah has mentioned, clarifying the state and affair of the complete believers during the performance of actions by which they seek nearness to Allaah from the acts of obedience:

“And those who give that which they give with their hearts full of fear because they are sure they are to return to their Lord.” (Soorah Mu-minoon: 60)

This means that they give from themselves that which they are commanded with from the acts of worship from Salaah, Zakaah, Hajj, Siyaam (Fasting) and other than that. They are in fear that their actions will not save them or that their acts of worship will not be accepted when their actions are being presented to Allaah and they have to stand in front of Allaah. Imaam Ahmad mentions in his Musnad on the authority of The Mother of The Believers Aaishah (may Allaah be pleased with her) stated:

“I said: Oh Messenger of Allaah (sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam) Allaah has said:

“And those who give that which they give with their hearts full of fear because they are sure they are to return to their Lord.” (Soorah Mu-minoon: 60)

Is it the man who commits Zinaa (fornication/adultery) and consumes intoxicants? He (sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam) said: No oh daughter of Abee Bakr/ No oh daughter of as-Siddeeq. However he is the man who fast, prays and gives charity and yet he fears that it wont be accepted from him.”

That is true only, if your good deeds outweigh your bad ones. If you still have more bad ones, you will go to hell permanently. The bottom line is that you are not guaranteed salvation. No Muslim knows what will happen to them other than those that die as martyrs for Allah's cause. That is why they are so eager to die--so that they get a guaranteed entry into jannah.

"Now let me turn this back on you, C. Now that you are saved by christ, do you have the right to do any sin that you want, like murder, rape etc... Because, you wont be punished for those sins seeing as Jesus(pbuh) was given as a ransom for your sins from the father."

You have an incorrect view of salvation if you think that we are just free to do as we want once we are saved. Even from a Qu'ranic view, you must know that Allah doesn't like those who do evil and sin, regardless of how many good deeds they have done over their lifetimes. Jesus told us to obey Him. That means that we must do it at all times. We don't get some kind of time out just because we are saved. You make is it seem as if we are only interested in being saved, and once we get saved, we go out and party and become lawless. That type of attitude towards God would in fact, lead us to destruction. That attitude would go against God's orders. Why would we want to break God's orders?

"And the reason muslims do not treat God like a father is because he is not our father, but our creator."

You assume that because He created us that He still can't be our Father. That is an unwarranted assumption to make. In the Bible, God fathered Israel since He called Israel His son. Jesus called God our Father too. Jesus also called himself the Son of God.

you asked " C. Now that you are saved by christ, do you have the right to do any sin that you want, like murder, rape etc... Because, you wont be punished for those sins seeing as Jesus(pbuh) was given as a ransom for your sins from the father. And the reason muslims do not treat God like a father is because he is not our father, but our creator."

This comes from a common doubt of Muslims, that Grace is a license to Sin at will with no punishment. The Holy Bible is clear on this issue ..

Romans 6:1–2 (NASB95)
Believers Are Dead to Sin, Alive to God, What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin so that grace may increase? May it never be! How shall we who died to sin still live in it?

Commentary: "Then Paul explained why such a thought cannot be entertained. The fact is, Christians died to sin (cf. 6:7, 11). The Greek aorist (past) tense for “died” suggests a specific point when the action occurred, at salvation. Death, whether physical or spiritual, means separation, not extinction (cf. vv. 6-7, 14). Death to sin is separation from sin’s power, not the extinction of sin. Being dead to sin means being “set free from sin” (vv. 18, 22). That being true, Paul asked, How can they live in it any longer? Obviously believers cannot live in sin if they died to it."

Walvoord, J. F., Zuck, R. B., & Dallas Theological Seminary. (1983-). The Bible knowledge commentary : An exposition of the scriptures (Ro 6:1–2).

The purpose of being "saved" or "Born again" is not to just have a get out of Sin free card, the Bible says...

Ephesians 2:10 (NASB95) For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.

St John said...

1 John 3:8 (NASB95) the one who practices sin is of the devil; for the devil has sinned from the beginning. The Son of God appeared for this purpose, to destroy the works of the devil.

Commentary:
"He that doeth sin (ὁ ποιων την ἁμαρτιαν [ho poiōn tēn hamartian]). “He that keeps on doing sin” (the habit of sin). Of the devil (ἐκ του διαβολου [ek tou diabolou]). In spiritual parentage as Jesus said of the Pharisees in John 8:44. When one acts like the devil he shows that he is not a true child of God."

Robertson, A. (1997). Word Pictures in the New Testament (1 Jn 3:8). Oak Harbor:

1 John 3:9–10 (ESV)
9 No one born of God makes a practice of sinning, for God’s seed abides in him, and he cannot keep on sinning because he has been born of God. 10 By this it is evident who are the children of God, and who are the children of the devil: whoever does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor is the one who does not love his brother.

The death burial and resurrection secured for the regenerate person three things; legal justification before God, the believer has the righteousness of Christ put on them, the barrier of Sin is removed from between them and God, propitiation or atonement for Sins of the believers, and sanctification the inner working of the Holy Spirit that is maturating the believer to be like Christ day by day.

Yes you agree with me the god of Islam is know ones Father in any sense of the word, the God of the Bible is.

Muslims have a hard time understand the power of the saving grace of God...
Jesus spoke about how great the love of God's saving grace is.

Luke 7:37-50
(37) And behold, a woman of the city, who was a sinner, when she learned that Jesus was reclining at table in the Pharisee's house, brought an alabaster flask of ointment,
(38) and standing behind Him at His feet, weeping, she began to wet His feet with her tears and wiped them with the hair of her head and kissed His feet and anointed them with the ointment.
(39) Now when the Pharisee who had invited Him saw this, he said to himself, "If this man were a prophet, he would have known who and what sort of woman this is who is touching him, for she is a sinner."
(40) And Jesus answering said to him, "Simon, I have something to say to you." And he answered, "Say it, Teacher."

(41) "A certain moneylender had two debtors. One owed five hundred denarii, and the other fifty.
(42) When they could not pay, he cancelled the debt of both. Now which of them will love him more?"
(43) Simon answered, "The one, I suppose, for whom he cancelled the larger debt." And he said to him, "You have judged rightly."
(44) Then turning toward the woman He said to Simon, "Do you see this woman? I entered your house; you gave Me no water for My feet, but she has wet My feet with her tears and wiped them with her hair.
(45) You gave me no kiss, but from the time I came in she has not ceased to kiss My feet.
(46) You did not anoint My head with oil, but she has anointed My feet with ointment.
(47) Therefore I tell you, her sins, which are many, are forgiven--for she loved much. But he who is forgiven little, loves little."
(48) And He said to her, "Your sins are forgiven."
(49) Then those who were at table with Him began to say among themselves, "Who is this, who even forgives sins?"
(50) And He said to the woman, "Your faith has saved you; go in peace."

Muslims find it very hard to understand how God's loving grace can change the worst of sinners into the greatest of worshipers... because their Allah doesn't have that kinda love nor that kinda power over his believers.

Muslims find it hard to understand the power and freedom that is given to a forgiven sinner because they themselves never understand the great power of God that is bestowed upon us through the Holy Spirit and the relationship that we have with our Father that allows us to sin no more.

For Muslims, it is all about their efforts to please Allah and also to appease him.
But for Christians, it is all about what God has done for us that He Himself may be reconciled to us and be pleased with us.
Knowing how much we have been forgiven for our sins against Him, who will continue to willfully sin against Him? Who will continue to willfully do what is most dreaded or hated by the one we love so dearly?

Will you purposely do what your beloved spouse hates to see you do?
Will you commit adultery with others just because your spouse doesn't enforce his/her rules on you?
Or does your relationship with your spouse compel you to never even think of doing such things?

That's what God wants. An intimate relationship with Him... With this, we are driven to obey and do His will, not by the Law, but by His love for us and our love for Him.

Which faith gives more glory to God:
1 - a faith/belief system where believers must love/obey God at the threat of His anger and some form of punishment (be it in this lifetime or after),
OR
2 - a faith where believers love/obey God without any threat of God's anger or punishment?

Response:

You're just showing me that you know nothing about the Christian religion. In the Christian religion you are still to do good deeds, not so you can earn your salvation. You do it to show your love for God, to glorify Christ Jesus and present some evidence for your salvation. The New Testament present says this over and over again like a beating drum:

What then? Shall we sin because we are not under the law but under grace? By no means! Don’t you know that when you offer yourselves to someone as obedient slaves, you are slaves of the one you obey—whether you are slaves to sin, which leads to death, or to obedience, which leads to righteousness? But thanks be to God that, though you used to be slaves to sin, you have come to obey from your heart the pattern of teaching that has now claimed your allegiance. You have been set free from sin and have become slaves to righteousness. Romans 6:15-18

As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead.
James 2:26

...and on and on it goes.

I hope you give your life to Christ Jesus, Samatar.
