Muslim Terrorist Anwar al-Awlaki Killed in Yemen

So here's the general strategy. The U.S. government will continue to kill people who take Muhammad's command to fight unbelievers seriously, but will also condemn anyone who objects to Muhammad's teachings. I'm still trying to figure this out.

Sanaa, Yemen (CNN) -- American-born Muslim cleric Anwar al-Awlaki -- whose fluency in English and technology made him one of the top terrorist recruiters in the world -- was killed Friday in an airstrike in Yemen, officials said.

Al-Awlaki's death, confirmed by U.S. and Yemeni officials, dealt yet another blow to the al Qaeda network, reeling from the killing and capture this year of several top leaders, most notably Osama bin Laden.

A "successful joint intelligence-sharing operation" between Yemen and the United States led to the attack that killed al-Awlaki, a Yemeni government official said Friday. The official asked not to be named because he is not authorized to speak to the news media.

The United States regarded al-Awlaki, the public face of al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP), as a terrorist who posed a major threat to American homeland security. Western intelligence officials believe al-Awlaki was a senior leader of AQAP, one of the most active al Qaeda affiliates in the world. It has been linked to the attempt to blow up an airliner over Detroit in December 2009 and a cargo plane plot last year.

"Anwar al-Awlaki didn't need subtitles to indoctrinate," said Sajjan Gohel of the Asia Pacific Foundation, who called al-Awlaki's death significant. "He spoke English, he understood how to impact the Muslim diaspora in the West."

Al-Awlaki was killed about 8 kilometers (5 miles) from the Yemeni town of Khashef, east of the capital, Sanaa, said Mohammed Basha, a spokesman for the Yemeni Embassy in Washington. He said the operation was launched at 9:55 a.m.

The Yemeni government official said Yemeni intelligence recently located al-Awlaki's hideout in a house in Khashef, in Jawf province, which borders Saudi Arabia.

A senior U.S. administration official confirmed al-Awlaki's death. The official spoke on condition of anonymity to CNN because he is not authorized to release the information. The official did not provide any other information.

Three others, including Samir Khan, an American of Pakistani origin, were killed with al-Awlaki, reported Yemen's state-run Saba news agency, citing an official security source. Saba said Khan specialized in computer programming for al Qaeda.

Al-Awlaki was born in Las Cruces, New Mexico, and lived in the United States until the age of 7, when his family returned to Yemen. He returned to the United States in 1991 for college and remained until 2002.

It was during that time that as an imam in California and Virginia, al-Awlaki preached to and interacted with three of the September 11, 2001, hijackers, according to the 9/11 Commission Report. He publicly condemned the attack afterward. (Read more.)

Wait! Al-Awlaki supported the attacks behind closed doors, but condemned the attacks in public? How come Muslims like Kim and Mahdi keep telling us that there is no taqiyya in Islam? I feel like someone might be trying to trick me.

al-Awalki walks warily down the street, with his turbin pulled down low.

Aint no sound but the sound of his feet. A preditor drone ready to go.

Are you ready are you ready for this, are you hanging on the edge of your seat.

Out of the sky the hell fire rips, to the sound of the beat.

Another ones gone another ones gone, another one bites the dust. Hey where gonna get you too, another one bites the dust.

I feel like someone with some knowledge of Islam would know that taqiyya doesn't exist.

More sarcasm?

I don't believe Awlaki died.

Believe what you want; but, don't think that changes reality. Your delusion or trolling won't make your ideas/thoughts true.

I don't think Kim exists. I think David created a second login just to mess with us. LOL

Having examined the relevant Qur'an, hadith and tafsir passages firsthand, as well as having personally been on the receiving end of taqiyyah tactics by some Muslims I've encountered in the past, I am bewildered that anybody can deny all the evidence regarding the Islamic teaching on the subject.

It is sad in the sense the man never discovered the truth, now it is too late for him.

I was reviewing a Shabir Ally argument that "Jesus is going to kill all his enemies when he comes back" and reading the texts I discovered it just makes reference to ONLY 1 BATTLE,the lat battle, that of Armagedon with the Antichrist in it.

I think he knows the details.I would ask him:"Would you be against God destroying an ARMY of NAZIS led by HITLER?

Because the way you argue the audience thinks there will be:

1.No military battle

2.A series of massacres of non-Christians who are in cities doing no fighting

The text nowhere says it.In fact the TEXT says an IMMENSE NUMBER(maybe as many as 6 MILLION,like in the Holocaust) of CHRISTIANS are killed BEFORE the battle by the ANTICHRIST.

Hmmm,so those DETAILS are in the text,so your argument is INCOMPLETE and is only intended to mislead by the SIN of OMISSION.The fact you continue to use an incomplete argument year after year shows you are no scholar, nor a truth-seeker."

To read an article with the NT citations, read(it is in French, but you can used Google Translate):

Great Question David I could not have thought this in a million years. I would love to hear a response from the State Dept, Home security and Pentagon.

Hats off to you.

I gotta love the Obama administration for this one. We left-wingers are stepping up in unexpected ways. Not that I want to celebrate anyone's death but I despised Awlaki for a long time. Justice served.

Are you telling me you never admired him? Even when you went all Salafi on us?

On behalf of left leaning persons, I never admired that guy. He's dead. Good riddance.

According to Ehteshaam Gulam, Farhan believed in weird heretical things, so I'm not surprised.

You say you don't believe that Awlaki has been killed ? Now I know that I cannot take you seriously because you have completely taken leave of your senses. You are so blinded it is not even funny !!!!

Is a shame, because I had thought previously that people on this blog could at least reason with you on issues that are brought up, but now I see that you are not a person anyone should take seriously, because you can't even be objective in the face of clear cut solid evidence.

Hi Farhan Qureshi

Congratulations on leaving Islam. Hopefully you will truly examine christianity and invite Jesus Christ into your heart, but at least you have left a cultic religion that was surely leading you to hell.

By the way Ehteshaam Gulam was on this blog slamming you for leaving Islam and he was saying that you guys have been friends for a long time and that because you started hanging out with the christians now you have left Islam. He absolutely did not give you any credit at all for using your God given senses to examine the facts about Islam and found them to be wholly stupid and therefore led you to abandon Islam.

Congratulations again. Welcome to the world of critical thinkers who examine the evidence and not follow blindly.

Are you still in denial about Awlaki or you are ready to accept the inconvenient truth ?

@tao
I'm surprised you think kim can be reasoned with.
I lost hope in that cause a long time ago.
As for farhan being salafi, that's news to me. You can't judge someone on appearance but he seems like the last person who would be salafi. Just my opinion.

Kim,

If Mr. al-Awlaki's mother wins her suit against the government, will that convince you that he is deceased or not? I'm just curious as to what it would take for you to believe that his government executed him, and why you would have so much doubt.

I disagree you and Ehteshaam. I think Farhan is really very smart. He was Muslim apologist and was work with Muslim apologist leader. He realized Islam is weak and flaw. That why he leave Islam.

Lol, Dave, I liked his Prophet series when I was Salafi, but I hardly knew much about him besides the Prophet series <<< dude I can't believe I was Salafi - what was I thinking!?!?!?!? Then I heard what he was preaching and his migration to Yemen, and I was like, this guy is ruining everything in terms of Islam's image ... and then after I left Islam, he reminded me of everything I did not like about Islam.

Farhan Qureshi said...

Taomeano, I met Ehthesham ONCE and his family ONCE in Dearborn. I never spoke to him no the phone, I never e-mailed the guy, never chatted with him ... there was no communication outside of that meeting. Yet he claimed on his video that I met him several times! Then he claimed I was hanging around David and Nabeel too much. Again, I told him that I must have hung out with David and Nabeel like twice a year if that since 2006. Really? E-Sham? Really? But in any event again, I totally love David Wood and Nabeel Qureshi. I really appreciate Wood's passion, if I have any regret it's not having hung around them more often!

Hey Farhan,

Congrats on finally renouncing Islam. I loved watching your debates with David, Nabeel, Sam and Dr. White. Because of your integrity in these episodes, you were one of my favorite Muslim apologists.
Your compliments to David and Nabeel will not sit well with the disgruntled Muslim team, who blame them for your decision to leave Islam.

Anyway I hope more Muslim apologists honestly investigating Islam will finally realize what you and many others did.

Keep up the good fight friend.

@TPaul,
"Farhan was one of your favorite Muslim apologists." You cant mind Do you give me name other rest of Muslim apologists? and why?
It help me to understand the big picture because I am Deaf, so I cannot hear from the video.
Thank you

After watching Dr. White's dialogue with Ehteshaam Gulam for a second time, I have to say he actually manages to be a worse apologist than Osama Abdullah or Nadir Ahmed. Not only are his arguments devoid of reality or substance, but the guy has simply become downright nasty.
