Zayed just got smashed. Ouch!

The Imam got smoked, Spencer did an amazing job, and Ahmed Deedat must be turning in his grave.

One question is Spencer a Christian, I always thought he was an atheist or a secularist?

@ Hogan,

Spencer is a Catholic.

Hogan Elijah Hagbard,

Spencer is a Catholic, but as I recall not a Roman Catholic, some other kind.

I don't know exactly how religious he is. I've never heard him or read him proselytizing for Jesus Christ. The closest I've seen him get to that is when he argues that Christianity (and Judaism) are at the basis of our civilization. As I recall he has a master's degree in religion (he studied under the Catholic professor and prolific author Peter Kreeft, with whom he recently had a video debate on the subject "Is the only good Muslim a bad Muslim?"). Spencer seems to know a fair amount about Christian history.

There are two kinds of secularists. There is the Christian, religious kind of secularist (give to Caesar the things that are Caesar's) and there is the anti-religious kind of secularist. Spencer is certainly not the latter. I would say he is the former.

Though I think Spencer shouldn't have come out and started attacking Zayed personally before he had even spoken, I think the debate was fairly good by the conclusion. Zayed seemed to be floundering towards the end, grasping at straws, just trying to find anything to deflect the discussion and discredit Spencer's points. His attempts to dismiss the work of Ibn. Ishaq and downplay other commentators came across as desperation to me. His last conjecture about Aisha maybe not knowing her age because there were no birth certificates was laughable. Her parents would certainly know how old she was, even if she didn't.

I enjoyed this debate - thank you for the link.
Kudos to Spencer. I think he is beyond making polite smalltalk in his dialogue with Muslims like Moustafa Zayed.

And did Zayed claim that Aisha had a 'great mind' or words to that effect ?
But not 'great' enough to count to nine apparently, lol. :)
