Tavis Smiley: More Christian Than Muslim Terrorists???

Tizita sent me this link. As absurd as Irshad Manji's "raisin" defense was, Manji has nothing on Tavis Smiley when it comes to making ridiculous, unsubstantiated claims.

Ummmmmm...... Columbine?!? They TARGETED Christians there! This just comes out of the (heavily promoted by the leftwing media) "if we just bury our heads in the sand far enough, maybe it won't hurt as much when they behead us" dhimmi school of thought. The dishonesty here is astounding. I wish Ayaan Hirsi Ali had called him on this baloney!

And I thought the chics on the view were stupid. This baffoon makes Woopi Joy and the rest of the gals look half way intelligent.

So Christians are actually blowing themselves up and were repsonible for Colunbine! If I recall correctly a number of students were targeted because they were Christans.

These fools are truly out to destroy us.

Um, excuse me my brother-in-Christ, but as I recall Eric and Dylan (the two renegades responsible for the Columbine Massacre) weren't Christians. As a matter of fact, those two were very hostile towards the Christian faith(why else would they kill my two sisters in Christ Cassie and Rachel?)!!!!!!!

This is just like someone saying Hitler (a man responsible for starting a worldwide war and killing 6 million jews) was a Christian, as many people have done so by mistake!!!!!!

What is this world coming to??????

I agree with the commentator that it is "down right stupid" but I disagree that it is not worth a response.

I thought of this today when I was thinking of the Bill O'Reily VIEW fiasco, when one of the woman brought up Tim McVey.

Tim McVey was following the doctrines of his religion, so where those at Columbine, and those postal workers and other workers that go and shoot there fellow employees.

The religious doctrine of Tim McVey was that of the Turner Diaries. The Religious theology of the others followed the same form of Hate.

To quote one of the video's of the columbine massacre. The young man apologized to his parents and said "I JUST HATE, I"m SORRY I DON"T KNOW WHY I HATE SO MUCH"

You will find similar things with the others that do such senseless violence.

But that is the thing. It is not senseless violence to those that are doing it. They actually think they are doing good.

In the case of Tim McVey, he thought what he was doing was a act of patriotism.

Those at Columbine thought they were being super hero's avenging those that had wronged them and others. They thought they were standing up for the little guy.

Similar things can be found with others that do such things.

We need put it in it's proper frame of reference.

I understand what he was 'trying' to say...Columbine was obviously a bad example.

What he was 'trying' to say was that the majority of people in America come from ethnic backgrounds that are traditionally Christian. And given that fact, the majority of murders in America are likely caused by people from these ethnic backgrounds - this is just based on sheer numbers.

But what he fails to realize is that the overwhelming majority of these people are a) not practicing Christians and/or b) not instructed to do that stuff in the bible.

I think Muslims incorrectly label anybody who comes from countries that are 'traditionally' Christian as Christians. The sad reality is that most of the world, including countries that have been traditionally Christian have become secular and neither represent Christian values nor should be called Christians.

Thats my 2 cents.

Did he seriously say that Christians go into post offices every day and blow themselves up??

Epic fail, Smiley.

I don't know about Eric Harris, but I know that Dylan Klebold was raised by a Lutheran father and a Jewish mother. His family practiced traditions from both Christianity and Judaism. I'm not sure if he was a devout Christian or Jew or anything (or even close to devout), but I doubt it. Besides, religion had nothing to do with the Columbine shootings. Both Dylan and Eric had a fascination with Hitler and Neo-Nazism, and neither of them were of good mental health.

I read in one source that Dylan had Confirmation. But that is far from proving if he really practiced his faith outside of what he was forced to do. Like the kid who sits in front of me in health class, who said:

"The last time I went to church was when I got confirmed. That was two years ago..."

Correct me if I'm wrong...but didn't the Columbine killers walk around with t-shirts saying "Survival of the fittest"? Something usually attached to Darwinism and NOT Jesus???

Hi guys,

You are living in the US, could you know bring the guy to court for lies, including public insult

At least the society would learn about the media agenda and the media agenda would be taught a lesson

Unless believing Christians actually blow up offices every day in the US you have a clear case

Yes,that is what happens when people do not know basics.I think by Christian he meant anybody who was baptised as a baby, and so for him that person is a technical Christian, even if he never reads the Bible. So even Hitler was a Christian by that definition.

I just have to add extra information.I have found out that:

1.The Essenes(who were I think the FIRST group to be 100% against slavery)celebrated the PASSOVER on a DIFFERENT day from the PHARISEES.Scholars think Jesus was killed on 30 AD or 33 AD.

On 30 AD the Essene Passover was ONE DAY BEFORE the Pharisee one.The SYNOPTICS say Jesus was arrested on Passover, while JOHN apparently says it was one day before. So the Synoptics would refer to the Essene one and John to the Pharisee one.

WHY ESSENE?

From the documents at Qmran we know they had a different Passover date(they used a different calender). We also know they had SIMILARITIES with the FIRST CHRISTIANS

1.They practiced BAPTISM
2.They had a ritual ceremony where they ate BREAD and drank WINE(it is in the book,"The Manuel of Discipline).
3.The language of the Essene literature is MYSTICAL,like the speeches of Jesus in JOHN(including the speech at the last supper).
4.They either treated WOMEN as EQUALS(like Jesus)or something close(in Qmran documents).
5.The DAMASCUS DOCUMENT(in Qmran)PROHIBITS POLYGAMY(4:19 and 5:2),which coincides with something Jesus said that in effect does it also.

I know one of the Synoptics has Jesus tell his disciples that they would know where to have Passover when they saw a "MAN carrying a JAR".Then only WOMEN carried jars,it was unusual. It could have been an ESSENE,since they were more egalitarian.

There is also evidence there was an ESSENE QUARTER in JERUSALEM.

FOR THE DOCUMENTARY EVIDENCE THAT THE ESSENES TREATED WOMEN AS EQUALS OR AT LEAST SOMETHING CLOSE:

Wow NPR fired Juan Williams for saying on Bill O'Relily ""I mean, look, Bill, I'm not a bigot. You know the kind of books I've written about the civil rights movement in this country," Williams said. "But when I get on a plane, I got to tell you, if I see people who are in Muslim garb and I think, you know, they're identifying themselves first and foremost as Muslims, I get worried. I get nervous."

The crimes of Christians do not excuse the crimes of Islam.

Hogan, some lawyer would have to prove that Smiley's comments resulted in injury to someone in order to constitute slander. And strangely enough, defamation lawsuits where Christians are the plaintiffs are rarely considered worthy of a judge's attention. That's fairness for ya, in PC-land. But don't despair, for here in America, our greatest weapon against someone using their freedom of speech for evil (or idiocy) is our own freedom of speech. May the Good Lord see fit to keep it in our Constitution for a long time to come!
