Mayor John O'Reilly Spreads More Deception on Anderson Cooper 360

Mayor John O'Reilly was on Anderson Cooper 360 yesterday, commenting on our videos and the idea that Sharia is in effect in Dearborn, Michigan. (Sadly, Mr. Cooper didn't bother having one of us on the show to respond to the mayor's claims. Indeed, he wouldn't even mention the name "Acts 17," apparently so that people wouldn't be able to look up the videos. It seems that the media are aware of the story, but that they are actively keeping the public in the dark. At least Mr. Cooper played part of the video, though, and acknowledged that there was a problem with security.)

Here's the clip:

The mayor, of course, has been repeatedly exposed for his deceptive remarks about us.

Since our position continues to be deliberately misrepresented, I'll clarify it once again. We are not (and never have been) saying that Sharia law is in full effect in Dearborn, Michigan. That would be ridiculous. We're saying that certain elements of Sharia law are being enforced in certain contexts, and that Mayor O'Reilly and other Dearborn leaders refuse to stop it.

The mayor, however, holds that Sharia plays no role in Dearborn. If that's the case, perhaps he can explain to me why Muslims are free to slap Christians around for attempting to film a peaceful dialogue in which Christians question Islamic doctrine (questioning Islam is perfectly legal under the Constitution, but not under Sharia).

Perhaps the mayor can explain why eight armed police officers would surround three Christians attempting to distributed Bibles (distributing Bibles is perfectly legal under the Constitution, but not under Sharia).

Perhaps the mayor can explain why there are double standards in effect, so that Christians attempting to distribute pamphlets are taken to police, while Muslims doing the same are free to do so (double standards are perfectly acceptable under Sharia, but not under the Constitution).

Perhaps the mayor can explain why Christians would be arrested for sharing their faith with young Muslims (sharing one's faith is perfectly legal under the Constitution, but not under Sharia).

To say that Sharia has taken over Dearborn is an overstatement. But to say that Sharia plays no role in Dearborn is equally misleading. Michigan Congressman Tom McMillin summed things up nicely:

"What does the Dearborn Mayor expect? He, his prosecutor and his police department launched a vicious months-long assault on the free speech rights of four Christians who were simply talking to festival-goers (who approached them first) about their faith on public property. When Dearborn dismisses the Constitution like this, then many Americans are naturally going to wonder under whose laws the city thinks they operate. If Mayor O'Reilly doesn't want people to think Dearborn is moving toward Sharia law, then he should make sure the city stops singling out and attacking Christians as second-class citizens."

David, I have two things to say:

1) This mayor is very evil, cold and heartless. If he's trying to win popularity with the local muslims, I don't think it's going help him, when Sharia (all of the elements) is in full effect.

2)John O'Reilly should really resign and let someone else take his post. His deceiving, misrepresenting the fact is going to cost him his career.

I liked the conversation Nabeel had with your young guys in the last video. One of the things that really caught my attention was how young those kids were and the questions they asked. This shows that Muslim kids are being taught their version of apologetic from a young age while Christians parents these days specially in the west are raising kids to be politically correct rather than being good Christians. We need to not only start getting the core message of Christianity to the young ones again but apologetics should also be taught in Church from a young age.

Hmmm? When Syria was occupying Lebanon I believe he said? So the Lebanese Christians migrated here? Just why exactly was that Mayor Riley?
Do you even realize what you are saying? There are countless Lebanese who would be more than happy to share their experiences as they saw their country ruthlessly savaged to become predominately muslim today. Muslims have become the dominant political force in Lebanon at this time.
Resistance to Syrian influences in Lebanon were brutally put down and Christians left the country in large numbers. Those Christians remaining are in an extremely precarious and weakened condition.
Both Syria and Iran arm Hizbullah, and the militancy of this group is well publicized and it's violent character played out daily.
Would Mayor Riley care to remark on identity-infidel killings of Lebanese Christians by Lebanese muslim terrorists.
The Paris of the mid-east is no more, but it is muslim and now their sights are set on the real Paris. And that is documented.
Any term I might use to describe Mayor Riley would be inappropriate. Enough said. Where do these people come from?

Sorry, I hope I didn't offend any Riley's out there. That should have been, " O'reilly ".
Too, Mayor Oreilly, most cancers begin innocuously enough, and are initially undetectable as insidious as they are. As the malignancy grows, so too the debilitating and disastrous effects, and except excised, death will occur.
Am I saying islam is cancerous? Certainly!
Islam has proven itself to be a precursor of violence and death of unimaginable consequence.
Why do you not believe what the islamist is saying?
Perhaps you shall when the bismillah is predominately displayed upon the forehead or arm of the person separating your head from your shoulders because you are an infidel.

Some OT reflections.

Rauf: "I condemn everyone and anyone who commits acts of terrorism, and Hamas has committed acts of terrorism."

Why does he refuse to directly connect the verb "condemn" with the noun, "Hamas"? "I condemn Hamas."

Why does he instead turn his answer into a syllogism, where he states only the two premises, and then leaves it to us to assume he is also making the deduction that he condemns Hamas? Why does he refuse to actually say he condemns Hamas?

It's interesting in this context to note that Ibn Taymiyyah, a Muslim thinker influential on the Muslim Brotherhood, Wahabism, and Salafism, thought that syllogism was an inferior and uncertain form of logic. Was Rauf, in stating only those two premises, but refusing to state the conclusion, telegraphing to Wahabist and other Islamic scholars that he doesn't mean what he seems to be saying to Westerners about Hamas?

The scholars around here would know the answer to that question better than I do.

In any event, I think Rauf's above statement is part of playing a double-game. By leaving the conclusion unspoken, he telegraphs to the world's numerous Muslim Hamas supporters that he is resisting actually saying it. He's telling them that he is answering under duress, but is still resisting even as he gives way a bit; fundamentally he is still on their side.

Meanwhile, Westerners who are naive assume he, like them, is drawing the obvious deductive conclusion.

If I'm being overly suspicious, well, that's what Rauf deserves for refusing to speak simply and directly.

Hello Dave and friends,

I feel very sorry that the dearborn ppl still lying about you. I saw all the videos and there is no doubt dearborn security was wrong 2009 and in 2010 dearborn police including city of dearborn was very very wrong!
On the other hand you are blessed, because you are persecuted because you follow Jesus Christ.
Growing up in East Germany I was also persecuted as a Christian and that went even much further than what happened to you in dearborn. My parents and me were on a list of fundamenatlist Christians about being jailed in a konzentration camp, we simply got lucky that in 1989 (just before they wanted to jail us) communist east germany ceased to exsist. But from that example one can see that communism and islam somehow share a deep hatred for christians.
It does not matter how much you were persecuted in dearborn, some maybe say; compared to what is happening to christians in egypt, iraq, pakistan etc. you did not have to suffer at all, but that would be wrong to say, because if we wait until christians are listed to go to jail, simply because they are christian it would be too late!
The fact that dearborn showed islams true colours is blessing, that way everbody can see the tip of the babarian iceberg called islam and yes david is right, this is not the full sharia law, not yet, but the dearborn law bears parts of sharia law and that is NOT acceptable at all!
Act17, keep up the good fight, we in berlin, germany are 100% behind you and most important you got The Mighty One right in your corner.
God bless you.
Peter

Thumbs up for Dr James White for debunking and refuting Walid Shoebat. I did't expect that move.
