Swedish Cartoonist Lars Vilks Assaulted by Muslim (to Shouts of "Allahu Akbar!")

Consider the following chain of events.

Muhammad flees Mecca (after threatening to slaughter its inhabitants) and enters Medina, portraying himself as a peacemaker. The unsuspecting tribes of Medina agree to protect him in the event of war. Muhammad then begins attacking the Meccan caravans, leading Medina into war with Mecca. No one except the Muslims wanted the city to be plunged into war.

Upset at all the violence brought on by Muhammad, a man named Abu Afak wrote a short poem, which declared that the people of Medina would be better off following someone other than the Prophet of Islam. The poem read:

“Long have I lived but never have I seen
An assembly or collection of people
More faithful to their undertaking
And their allies when called upon
Than the sons of Qayla when they assembled,
Men who overthrew mountains and never submitted,
A rider who came to them split them in two (saying)
“Permitted”, “Forbidden”, of all sorts of things.
Had you believed in glory or kingship
You would have followed Tubba.” (Ibn Ishaq, p. 675)

This was too much for Muhammad to bear, so he ordered his followers to murder Abu Afak. They stabbed him to death while he was asleep.

Outraged that Muhammad had ordered the brutal assassination of a man who was more than a hundred years old, a woman named Asma demanded retaliation. She wrote:

“I despise B. Malik and al-Nabit
and Auf and B. al-Khazraj.
You obey a stranger who is none of yours,
One not of Murad or Madhhij.
Do you expect good from him after the killing of your chiefs
Like a hungry man waiting for a cook's broth?
Is there no man of pride who would attack him by surprise
And cut off the hopes of those who expect aught from him?” . . . (Ibn Ishaq, pp. 675-676)

Since Asma called for violence against Muhammad, the latter ordered her brutal assassination as well. She was killed at night in the presence of her children.

Think about the progression. People invite Muslims to live peaceful lives in Medina. Muslims instead bring violence. Someone speaks out against the violence, and Muslims respond with further violence. Someone gets upset and calls for violence against the Muslims, and this leads to more violence. And Muslims always point the finger at anyone who dares criticize them.

History repeats itself.

Consider the following chain of events.

The Netherlands invites tons of Muslims to live peacefully in a beautiful country. Some Muslims repay the kindness with rape, murder, terrorism, and demands for Sharia law.

Outraged by this, a Danish newspaper prints twelve Muhammad cartoons, portraying Muhammad as a man who inspires violence. Muslims respond by slaughtering more than a hundred people in the name of Islam.

Upset that Muslims would kill over cartoons, Swedish cartoonist Lars Vilks draws the following cartoon of Muhammad as a dog (Note: cover your eyes if your belief in Islam is so fragile that it can't endure the insults of cartoonists):

Even though he only drew it as a response to unspeakable Muslim atrocities, any such cartoons demand violence. Al-Qaeda put a $100,000 bounty on Vilks's head, and he's been getting death threats ever since. And here's what happens when Vilks tries to give a presentation on free speech at a university:

STOCKHOLM - A Swedish artist who angered Muslims by depicting the Prophet Muhammad as a dog was assaulted Tuesday as angry protesters interrupted his university lecture about the limits of artistic freedom.

Lars Vilks told The Associated Press a man in the front row ran up to him and head-butted him during the lecture, breaking his glasses but leaving him uninjured. It wasn't immediately clear what happened to the attacker.

A video clip of the incident on the website of a Swedish newspaper showed police using pepper spray and batons to hold off an angry crowd shouting "God is great" in Arabic after Vilks was escorted out of the lecture hall.

Vilks has faced numerous threats over his controversial drawing of Muhammad with a dog's body, but Tuesday's incident was the first time he has been physically assaulted.

Earlier this year U.S. investigators said Vilks was the target of an alleged murder plot involving Colleen LaRose, an American woman who dubbed herself "Jihad Jane," and who now faces life in prison. She had pleaded not guilty.

Vilks said a group of about 15 people had been shouting and trying to interrupt the lecture before the incident at Uppsala University.

Many of them stormed the front of the room after the attack and clashed with security guards as Vilks was pulled away into a separate room, he said, describing the scene as "complete chaos." Read More.

Of course, many non-Muslims are going to be outraged that Vilks was assaulted in the name of Islam, and more people are going to respond with cartoons. This will lead to further violence from Muslims, which will lead to further cartoons and criticism, and so on.

There are only two possible solutions to all of this. First, all non-Muslims can submit to Islam, agree never to criticize it, and give the religion such a privileged place that Muslim atrocities will never again be condemned. But this just isn't going to happen. Second, Muslims can stop turning to violence as the solution for everything that goes wrong. Sadly, I doubt this will happen either. As long as there are Muslims who take Muhammad's commands seriously, there will be murder in the name of Islam.

WOOD'S PREDICTION: Muslims like Yahya Snow will be more upset about me posting the above cartoon than they are about their fellow Muslims attacking cartoonists, killing in the name of Islam, blowing up girls' schools, gang-raping young girls, etc. However, when Muslims prove me right, don't think that I'm a prophet. I just notice patterns of behavior.

I'm currently reading Why Faith Matters by David J. Wolpe. In it, he said, "A brittle faith fears questions; a robust faith welcomes them."

That says it all, I think. :)

I swear Muslims only have two emotions, anger and rage.

I had my first debate this Sunday on Paltalk. To be honest I don't think I did to good. The topic was Is Mohamed in the bible?

The Muslim brought up the usual stuff, Mohamed is the comforter, etc...

But he brought up one argument which I just thought was the funniest thing.

Mohamed is named by name in the Song of Songs 5:16.

The Muslim admitted that he believes the Song of Songs is BIBLE PORN. he even admited that he gets sexually aroused reading EZ 23 (Very disturbing)

Now Muslims will riot, issue death threats, even kill people for drawing a picture of their Prophet.

But they have no problem, believing their Prophet is named by name in what they consider to be Bible Porn. Not only that, but the word they believe is the name of Mohamed is a adjetive in Hebrew meaning "Lovely" and is used to describe The Lover i.e. one of the stars of this Bible Porn.

Yeah they have there priorities straight.

This RIOT demonstrated by the Muslims at the University is truly sickening. And Muslims still have the audacity to claim that Islam is a religion of peace??? What a crazy world... Oh, and I wouldn't be surprised if Yahya Snow says that the use of pepper spray was too violent (double standards). One more thing, I wonder what our friend Asadullah Yusuf Hamza thinks about the way the Muslims conducted themselves?

I watched the video. It's just terrible what has been happening over cartoons. Praise YHWH that Lars is fine.

Fat Man--

Be careful not to indict all Muslims... when you say "I swear Muslims only have two emotions, anger and rage" you include people like my sister and my parents; they are loving, hospitable people not given to rage or anger.

I understand what you're trying to say, but it is unnecessarily offensive when people are careless with blanket statements and judgments.

mkvine said...

Fat Man, I just saw that debate. I was utterly disgusted by the conduct of the Muslims in the room, they have no respect for debate rules. And I noticed they bounced you for allegedly "insulting" Muhammad, but Army of Jesus was not bounced for insulting the Holy Spirit. I think I see the pattern that David Wood is talking about: Its ok for Muslims to criticize other religions, but its not ok for others to criticize Islam. Hmm, fits perfectly well with Muhammad's treatment of the pagans in Mecca.

I'm so furious at these images I dont know what to say accept that I despise Islam with all my heart and all my soul and all my strength. (in other words, the inverse of Deuteronomy 6:5)

ben malik said...

Nabeel, let's not get all sensitive or try to be mr. nice guy here since I think everyone understood what fat man was saying. Besides, how many Muslims would even consider your family to actually be Muslims as opposed to followers of a heretical sect.

Royal Son said...

mkvine - add to that, Radical actually said a bunch of stuff about Allah and the Muslims did not so much as bat an eyelid (or is it eyelash ? I can never remember!)

Michelle Qureshi said...

Ben Malik--

A little sensitivity doesn't hurt. You should try it some time.

I know what he was trying to say (as I already said) and yet I stand by what I'm saying -- don't lump people together and make unnecessarily offensive blanket statements.

If you want to be unnecessarily offensive, that's between you and the Lord. I can only do my part in abstaining from it and pointing it out to others, and I will continue to do just that.

Hello Mkvine:

I think Yusuf Hamza is against the actions of those Muslims but I tell you there is an emotional freakout response in many.
To have a rational discussion about the Palestinian issue with many is impossible.
When you show them evidence contrary to their position they can not just say:"I did not know that, you have a point."MODERATION is not in them.

ben malik said...

Hey Nabeel, a LOT of humbleness doesn't kill either and you definitely need to try A LOT OF THAT more often. Your statement wreaks of arrogance and self-righteousness even though you try to come off as sensitive and humble. Anyway, let's not make this about you and let's not jump the gun and attack others for your misunderstanding. Everyone could see what the fat man meant. Sadly, you didn't

I really hope Muslims continue to behave like this and have these little planned outbursts on camera. Firstly, it is showing the entire world the true Muslim ideology; secondly, if Muslims really think this is something that will scare people into keeping quiet about Islam, then they are out of their minds.

Radical Moderate said...

Nabeel you are right. I was speaking to a Indian apostate, and I shared that video with him and he said something that nailed your words home.

"Its because of people like theese that people like me will get attacked."

So let me rephrase
These Muslims seem to have only two emotions anger and rage. They seem happiest when they are enraged.

David Wood said...

Ben Malik,

I'm not sure you're one to be talking about arrogance. Nabeel requested a simple rewording from Fat Man. None of the regulars here has a problem with suggestions of this nature, and neither does Fat Man. If you can't handle that, there are other blogs out there.

Radical Moderate said...

Ok now I feel bad, my careless comment has caused a riff between two of my Christian brothers.

For me to say I feel bad is saying alot, some of you know what I'm talking about.

First I hope that we can resolve this as brothers and not as the Muslims in these video's.

Ben, I do not pretend to speak for Nabeel, but put yourself in his shoes. His parents that belong to this cult seem by all intents to be stand up people. His Dad is retired Officer in the United States Navy. He can wear the Uniform, an honor and privliage that niether you nor I or anyone who is not retired can do.

He loves his parents deeply and to lump his parents in with this scum well I can understand his reaction.

Also keep in mind like my friend from India said, because of this he has to worry about being attacked as well as his family.

So by all accounts Nabeels family are stand up true blooded to the bone Americans. They raised a good Son, I only wish I did as good of a job raising my own as his parents did raising Nabeel.

Now with all that mushy stuff said and done lets get to the real issue.

I posted that Muslims have two emotions anger and rage.

Nabeel rightly corrected me and said this isn't true we can not paint all Muslims with the same brush.

And he is right.

ben malik said...

Hey David, you get all defensive because I called out your buddy? I thought you and Sam were buddies now? If I were to bring out a flaw in Sam would you react the same way? I should try it and see.

ben malik said...

Hey fat man, forgive me if I am wrong but when you made that statement I didn't think you were seriously trying to say that all the Muslims were that way. Am I wrong here? Please explain yourself since this will help me understand better.

David Wood said...

Ben Malik,

You seem to love to cause problems where there are none.

Yes, Sam is my friend. And I have the same reaction whether with Nabeel or with Sam. If a criticism is just, they've got to deal with it (and, if necessary, I'll join in the criticism). If a criticism is unjust (as yours was), I say something in response.

Since you've accused me of inconsistency, why don't you ask Sam or Nabeel what happens when I think someone has unfairly criticized Sam.

After you do that, please stay away from this blog.

I think no way can the AHMADIYA ever be thought of as capable of carrying out a terrorist act since they definitely REJECT violent jihad in their beliefs, categorically. So for those who don't know we who do definitely never think his family or his Ahmadiya friends will act violently.

CLINICS,HOSPITALS and SCHOOLS

Unlike the Sunnis and Shia the Ahmadiya as a POLICY and COMMUNITY dedicate alot of effort in making hospitals, clinics and schools.

ben malik, Nabeel and David are correct

You, Ben, are in the wrong here...

Nabeel was just in his rebuke of TheFatMan...TheFatMan accepted this rebuke as just too

Take this opportunity to rethink your mannerisms and attitude...you have recently abused me too and after being the subject of your tongue-lashing I felt you had an abrasive tendency inside you

Think about it brother

Christian brothers and sisters,

at first I have to say that I am not a big fan of stupid cartoons or charicatures. If you can remember that the first time Scorsese's "The last temptation of Christ" was shown in greek cinemas, there was a big riot and people there went mad and destroyed everything. Every culture is different and has a different temper. Shouting "Allahuakbar" is like a stimulation going into kind of a trance and losing the mind. In a way I can understand that they get very angry, because I don't see any sense in making disgusting cartoons or caricatures. Of course I believe that Mohammed is a false propeht, an antichrist, one of the worst examples of a character. I would unerstand it if a theoligian or a religious atist would make a caricature, but it is difficult if persons who are completle against religion make such depictions.

You all know that South Park or Family Guy make us very angry, and we deal with those things in a different way, but I would bet that in a christian village in africa, if someone would mock Jesus etc. they would handle it in their way.

Islam is not a peaceful religion and when it behaves peacefully, or their are peaceful people it is because of the persons own understanding of islam, but islam at its core isn't and that's why I find David's, Nabeel's and Sam's work as so important that they tell the truth.

God bless,

Apollos

Appollos26,

I appreciate your efforts in trying to put the violent reactions of muslims into perspective. However by compairing violent muslims to xtians in rular africa is completly off track.I lived many years among xtians in africa, believe me they w'd not burn down buildings for an insult on their region. You seem to forget that islamic barbarism is based on quranic quatations, plus their "holy prophet".This is the opposite of xty.

Apollos26 said...

Hi Abel,

thank you very much for adressing my post and correcting me in a way. Matter of fact, I never was in Africa, I just concluded with my "little" knowledge I have about the country and their passion and love for the christian message, that it could make them angry too, but I wouldn't say that they burned up things or hurting people. If my christian brethren here on the blog have understood my post in this way, I want to excuse myself. This wasn't my point. We never have to forget that we are humans too and not superbeings, but the one who is in us is stronger then the enemy. Because of Jesus we can deal with our temper etc. and we can leave blasphemers to God's wrath, but sometimes I would wish that the politicians who call them christians and other christians with influence would stand up when inappropriate things about our Lord Jesus are shown in Tv, in Museums or where ever.

We christians know veeery good how it is to be mocked, to be disrespected etc. but it is as our LORD said: we will be mocked and persecuted because of him and persection must not be always physical. It can be spiritual or personal. ut a quesow much does it make sense, knowingly putting gasoline into the fire, by depicting Mohammed as a dog? If one of us wants to fight the good fight, fight with the suprimacy of our theology and with the love for the truth. God alone is truth, Jesus sais he IS the truth= Jesus is God.

Hi All:

Whereas the riot is sickening but we already know the intolerance of poplar muslim majority when it comes to their prophet. They are at perfect ease when they rebuke Jesus in most vulgar way in chat rooms but are enraged when tested with the same medicine. Personally i reject uncalled for cartoon making of religious icons; it does more harm than good in the wider public. Many can be killed in countries like Pakistan, many churches could be set ablaze and what not. These cartoonists’ themselves are living in safe havens but the Christians in muslims countries are already living under live axe of islam.

As for remarks of fat man, let's swallow it cause of the run of emotions that he might have been through. Jesus has given the power to overcome the weaknesses of flesh and blood and showed His amazing tolerance towards us. Let's all show the tolerance of Jesus towards each other and towards the others. Certainly we do not want to live in the weaknesses of our flesh but in the Righteousness and Power of God that we have in Jesus Christ.

God Bless you

ned

If from this comment you are inferring that "DK-man" is Sam Shamoun you are incorrect (of course, you comment was a little ambiguous so excuse me if this isn't what you were saying). Dk-man is not a Christian. When I used to be on PalTalk I heard him speak and I can assure you he is not Shamoun.

ben malik, Nabeel, David,

I hope you guys can expediently resolve this issue. I'm not going to get in the middle of who I think is correct (the flames don't need more fanning), but I hate to see brothers in the Lord arguing, especially in a venue were we interact with non-believers.

Ben Malik has contributed a lot of very valuable information to the comments on this blog. While I don't always agree with exactly how he says some things, I would hate to see him gone from participation.

Nazam said...

Yeah, Dk-man is someone else but I believe Sam uses his login sometimes and Ben Malik like Dk-man is someone else but Sam uses his login extensively on this and other places.

I have nothing against my brother, and therefore nothing to resolve on my end. If he has something against me, I hope he will contact me privately and we will resolve it.

Thanks for urging us towards reconciliation, but I think we're good.

I'm no longer on good terms with Sam, thankfully it wasn't because of my deconversion, but a while back I was tossed aside like a fruit celad so he could gratify his latest pupil instead of answering my genuine questions about the trinity (which he took as an attack). In fact until a few days ago I had no idea he was married or having a child So i'm the last person to come to his aid: But I will say Sam does use his own account.
