Arab Festival 2009: Responses to Sharia in the US

As our "Sharia in the US" video approaches one million hits, some responses to criticisms are in order. While most of the feedback we've gotten has been positive, there have been plenty of attacks against us. Nevertheless, most of the negative comments are based on misunderstandings or misrepresentations. In this video, we address some of the most common errors.

Osama,

I'd be interested in watching the debate but I heard your site has virus. Is there a safe place where it can be downloaded from?

Guys, Thanks for posting the original video, and thanks for this response. I haven't been a regular commenter here, but I've been following your videos since hearing you on the "Unbelievable" radio podcast a while back. You guys are doing great work -- keep it up and God bless!

gsan,

We'll have it posted here eventually. Our videographer Andy has the footage on his hard drive, but he lives in DC. Nabeel does the uploading, but he's in Jamaica right now for a missions trip. So if you want to see it now, you'll have to watch it on Osama's site. If you're worried about a virus, you'll have to wait a week or two. (Note: It's definitely worth watching!)

Gsan,

McAfee testifies that they've tested my site and found no viruses in it. They gave it the Ok-Check:

Joh 15:18-21 "If the world hates you, you know that it has hated Me before it hated you. "If you were of the world, the world would love its own; but because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, because of this the world hates you. Remember the word that I said to you, 'A slave is not greater than his master.' If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you; if they kept My word, they will keep yours also.
But all these things they will do to you for My name's sake, because they do not know the One who sent Me.

Be blessed in Christ, David and Nabeel, you are greatly loved by our Father in heaven.

I have followed the events at the Arab Festival but I find it difficult to believe that David and Nabeel are as innocent as they are making out.
I am unable to shake off the thought that Nabeel and David were somewhat looking for and even revelling in the unsavoury incidents.
I also saw a clip from their visit to the UK (my country!) and they capture the greetings of an ATM machine from an Islamic bank and a big issue out of it.
Last time I checked a privately owned company ( the bank in question) can greet its clients the way it wants.
I can assure you, I live in the UK and I have never seen an ATM like the one which they showed, the banks I have seen are from non-Christian organisations too but these banks which I know of are going against Christian(as well as Islamic) principals too.
Many people erroneously believe that the secular/atheist companies, laws and countries in the West are Christian...they are not!
I guess that is why the Archbishop here in the UK is in favour of allowing elements of the Sharia into this country..he essentially sees these elements to be similar to Christian principals and in the process recognising UK law to be non-Christian...imo
Now "That is Youtube material"....phrase borrowed by the non-controversy looking/causing Wood/Qureshi:)

peace

btw did anybody from the UK read the article in the Mail a few days back about the disgusting 'artist' who was encouraging people to deface the Bible?...I deplore such actions and these actions should be banned in the UK...oh yes, I am a Muslim too:)

Peace and Thanks

Brother Osama Abdullah...

You should get a youtube channel and upload your debates on there so nobody has an excuse not to watch your debates as I am sure nobody will accuse youtube of containing viruses...

If you do this, brother, you remove one of their excuses from learning about the Truth that is Islam.

btw Osama, is their a copyright on your work or doyou allow others to post your articles on the net (with a link to your site)?

May Allah reward you for your work

Dear brother Yahya,

May Allah Almighty greatly bless you for the kind words. Insha'Allah, in the future, I'll try to make my youtube channel a prime one, or whatever it is called. But for now, I'll try to divide the videos into sub-videos.

As to my site's files, they are all under your service dear brother. Use my files as you please akhi. I just ask you to provide the URL of the specific article or articles for reference.

Take care akhi,

I say:

Do you even understand what free speech means? In a free society people have the (God given) right to say disgusting and deplorable things about the Bible or the Quran or Harry Potter.

Your statement scares me. If even a western Muslim like you will suggest we should ban speech we don’t like, what hope does freedom have in in the UK let alone the middle east?

Hey David and Nabeel,

You guys rock, Please continue to bring the fight to the enemy that is the way the Kingdom advances it's been that way for two thousand years and will be till the end

May God grant you success and all of us………… peace

Yes. Absolutely. Our Messiah was nonviolent, but He was not a pacifist [in the sense of passively letting injustice happen around you].

If he said so, he is dead wrong. Sharia is barbaric in nature (flogging, stoning, amputation etc.) but the Christian principles are the most refined.

Yahya said: "I am unable to shake off the thought that Nabeel and David were somewhat looking for and even revelling in the unsavoury incidents."

What you are doing is blaming David and Nabeel for knowing ahead of time how Muslims will react to being asked questions. I find it unacceptable that you choose to blame the victims of illegal activities rather than the perpetrators.

Let's follow your logic. Let's assume the absolute worst about the actions of David and Nabeel. Let's assume they knew the Muslims at the festival wouldn't answer their questions. Let's assume they new they would demand the camera be turned off. Lets assume they knew the security guards would threaten and assault them, and violate their civil rights.

Even if they knew all this, and went into the situation expecting this outcome, they still did nothing wrong. Yahya, you clearly do not understand America or our tradition of preserving our Constitutional rights. As citizens, we are being conscientious participants in our democracy when we expose people who violate the Constitution. This is called being Patriotic. All conscientious citizens of this nation are duty bound to confront these types of transgressions, and expose any place they occur.

So, even if the motives you ascribe to David and Nabeel are true, they are still great patriots who put themselves in harms way defending the constitution. Stop blaming the victims Yahya! This seems to be some kind of mass-denial condition Muslims suffer from. Buy and large, they constantly blame the victim, and of course, never blame Muslims or Islam.

David and Nabeel, you are both patriots. Excellent work. 99% of the citizens of our nation will go their whole life never having taken a stand for our rights and freedoms. Good work gentlemen.

Please inform me of exactly which Christian banking principles you are referring too? I really don't know how to evaluate this comment until I know what you are talking about.

ubiquitouserendipity says: osama has no credibility. ;+}

sometimes i wonder if he's not a house shill for us Christians 'cuz he's such a prime example of "islamic thought." you know what? i bet he's actually ben malik pretending to be sam shamoun impersonating osama being the best mohammedan he can be. i mean seriously, would a person who had a relationship with the One True and Living G_d actually condemn another person to "rot in hell for eternity"

but then again, i guess osama's just doing the best he can. Jesus died for such as he and me... Peace, in His love, papajoe

nadeem, welcome to this blog. may the G_d of love and light, Hashem Adonai, He Who abides in unapproachable, bless you and keep you in His loving hands, and may the Holy Spirit of G_d our Savior lead you into the truth of Jesus the Messiah of G_d.

Hello:

This is for Shafsha,it's that the other place is so crowded. It keeps growing everyday. She asked me for references on the Greater Jihad-Lesser Jihad.

I found alot in thereligionofpeace.com/Articles/Greater-Lesser-Jihad.htm

WEAK

They conclude it's weak. And give alot of details. So Mohammed saying fighting in battle was less noble than spiritual improvement is not very probable.

Why do the Muslim leaders not say it?Better said, why don't journalists do real research and ask them about it?Because many are too slothful to do real reading and thinking.

David Wood said...

This one seems pretty clear:

Sunan Ibn Majah 2794—It was narrated that Amr bin Abasah said: “I came to the Prophet and said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, which Jihad is best?’ He said: ‘(That of a man) whose blood is shed and his horse is wounded.’”

Here is more on Peter's bones. This time with NAMES of scientists,so you can verify my info.PLus more.

PETER'S BONES

CLEMENT was the 3rd bishop of ROME.He wrote 1 CLEMENT (also called Letter to the Corinthians),a letter to the church in Corinth. There Peter and Paul are said to have been put to death for the faith. According to tradition it was in ROME. There is archeological evidence it is true. In the mid-twentieth century there were excavations done under the Vatican. St. Peter's Church in Rome is built where according to tradition Peter was buried. They discovered 1,300 coins given by pilgrims in honor of the saint. They also discovered many bones. In the 1956 one group of bones was analyzed by MARGHERITA GUARDICCI It has been found in an area that had an INSCRIPTION in GREEK that said PETER is WITHIN.

The bones were found to be those of a man from the 1st century AD aged between 60-70 years of age. Now in all probability they are really those of Peter. Everything coincides: 1) the identifying insciption, 2) the age of the bones, 3) the century in which the man lived, 4) the fact that a very long traditon existed that he had been buried there.

SO?

It shows there is good reason to believe the ancient Christian writers knew what they were talking about. CLEMENT of ROME in 96 AD says Peter and Paul died as witnesses for the faith. He does NOT mention WHERE.And in JOHN we have Peter's death also, but WHERE?

ROME

But in 170 AD DIONYSOS the bishop of Corinth, does say they were both killed in ROME for the faith. One could say he could have been wrong, 170 AD is more than 100 years after 64 AD, when Christians in Rome were killed by Nero. But then we have the archeological evidence, not just writings, that appear to confirm it.

THERE IS A GOOD PROBABILITY THE BONES OF LUKE HAVE BEEN CONFIRMED:

According to the ancient Christian writers Luke was from ANTIOCH, which was then in the Roman province of SYRIA. A copy of Luke from the mid second century AD calls him a SYRIAN. Antioch was a Greek speaking city but in an arear surrounded by Aramaic speakers. We have the case of bones attributed to Luke and that had been moved from place to plae till they ended in Italy. Finally it was decided to test them. GUIDO BARBUJANI, an atheist scientist tested them and found they belonged to a man 70-85 years old, and who had died between 72 AD and 416 AD according to the DNA testing. He also found out the bones were more like those of a Syrian than Greek. Here are 2 sources:
