I wouldn't have as much of a problem with this if some state also had a "Christianity Day". But alas, anti-Christian sentiments are the flavor of the day, and pro-Islamic sentiments seem to be pretty popular among appeasers and new agers.
In fact, I wouldn't have a problem with this at all if "recognize 'the rich religious, scientific, cultural and artistic contributions'" also included "and learn about the history of the roots of Islam, including Muhammad and the Qur'an." Then at least the public would learn something of substance instead of celebrate something they don't understand.

I think the day September 24ththey chose is all wrong I think September 11th would have been much more meaningful and acurate to reflect what that Islam is the religion o peace.
The more I read this more angrier I get. This is absolute insanity. Can you imagine a Christian day in any Islamic state in the world. This Dhimihs have run amuk. The Dhimihs that voted should read "The Mosque Exposed" by S.Solomon and Alaaqdisi. Not only that copy should be sent to that Muslim wannabe in the White House.

First, David didn't post this news item.
Second, what good could possibly come of any place going soft on Islam and pretending it is something worth dedicating a special day to?
Third, what would Islam Day commemorate that is at all comparable to what Christians commemorate on Good Friday?
Fourth, if a place like Hawaii, which is officially part of "Dar-ul-harb", is going to set a day aside to honor a religion whose followers would like to attack and take it over, then I think Muslims should at least be magnanimous enough to set aside a day to commemorate all the places that have been violently overrun in the name of Islam already. I know that would pretty much fill up the calendar, but it would seem to be an appropriate gesture to make in return.
Finally, it is nice to see you decided to break your month long silence. Welcome back. (We haven't heard from you since the seventh of April, and I think Fernando has probably been worried sick about you.) :)

Where is the secularist outcry? Where are the liberals whining about separation of mosque and state?
If they hold one of these where I live, I will get a group together and we will start reading Hadiths into a megaphone, with a big banner reading "Happy Islam Day".
I still can't comprehend the absolute insanity of these dhimmis who voted for this in Hawaii. They spit in the face of all the victems' families of 9/11. This day of recognition is reprehensible and despickable. And o yes before I forget the Narcicist in Chief has been asked to speaking at the Al Azhar University Islam's theological center. for each of these are religions,,, and their adherents should be observing their faith each day.
the recognition by the state of "islam" (truly: mohammedanism) is a recognition by the state that "islam" (truly: mohammedanism) is not a religion, for the state is not able to recognize and honor any particular religion.
therefore, we can now begin to look at mohammedanism for what it truly is: a fascistic ideology of hatred designed to dominate the world. now that it is not a religion we can reign hell on it as secular states.
i personally deem any mohammedan in my community as a traitor to my homeland, and a direct theat to the well-being of my family.
it is time to deal with mohammedanism as a political ideology, and remove from it the veneer of validity allowed for true religions.

It prevent Christians yes dedicated Christians from joining politics and serving his nations. many of my church member do not talk politic, or wanted to serve the nations. According to them, politics in sinful and of satan.
On the other atheists, secularis and humanist and now Islamis have penetrate our system. They are the one who make every decision that harm Christians doctrine & morality such as ????? (you people should know better) Now, why complain? Too late my friends. The only things we can do is educate our citizen about them.
