Understanding ISIS, the Caliphate, and the Importance of Dabiq, Syria in Islamic Eschatology

In this brief video I discuss the importance of Dabiq, Syria and ISIS within the wider scope of Islamic eschatology. I also discuss the important elements in maintaining a 'Caliphate' in the Islamic worldview and why such a Caliphate is important in realizing the worldwide hegemony of Islam and the implementation of sharia law.

With all do respect to Dr Costa his conclusion is wrong. As ISIS says "we are counting your flags"

If 80 flags from 80 nations attack Dabiq then a lot of the "peaceful Muslims" that some Christian apologists are bending over backwards to placate, will suddenly not be so peaceful. So it would not be a moral defeat but rather a moral rallying cry for ISIS.

I have previously never heard that خلیفه (Khaliph or Caliph) is related to the Greek word, kephale = κεφαλη (head). Caliph or Khaliph خلیفه means "successor".

It would be good to provide the Hadith references to the town of Dabiq and related subjects.

We have to be prepared. So if we're able to flatten the caliphate, that would be a little step to a more peaceful world. I bet Erdogan is waiting to become the next caliph. He keeps preparing to become the next successor.

Ken, while you are correct that the Arabic word 'Caliph' does literally mean "successor", it also carries the notion of 'head' or 'ruler' of the Islamic state. In terms of Dabiq in the Hadith, see Sahih Muslim 6924,

"Abu Huraira reported Allaah's Messenger (sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam) as saying: The Last Hour would not come until the Romans would land at al-A'maq or in Dabiq...Certainly, the time of prayer shall come and then Jesus (sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam) son of Mary would descend and would lead them in prayer. When the enemy of Allaah would see him, it would (disappear) just as the salt dissolves itself in water and if he (Jesus) were not to confront them at all, even then it would dissolve completely, but Allaah would kill them by his hand and he would show them their blood on his lance (the lance of Jesus Christ)."

Dear brother Tony,

Nice to see you again, and thank you for the valuable information. I would like to bring to your attention that the Bible also supports Islam's claim about Jesus Christ returning FROM THE ARAB MUSLIMS in Syria:

Matthew 24:25-27
25 See, I have told you ahead of time.
26 “So if anyone tells you, ‘There he is, out in the wilderness,’ do not go out; or, ‘Here he is, in the inner rooms,’ do not believe it.
27 For as lightning that comes from the east is visible even in the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man.

Also in the Bible, there are many passages in the OT that literally say "THE GLORY OF GOD SHALL COME FROM THE EAST." Also, the book of Jeremiah says "Arabia has not yet met its threshold, and the time of her harvest shall come".

And also in Isaiah, we read "THE BURDEN SHALL BE PLACED UPON ARABIA", meaning, GOD Almighty's Divine Assignment to His Warriors and True Believers shall be put upon the shoulders of the Arabs.

Al-Baghdadi may not be the legitimate Caliph. The Prophet warned the Muslims from the many false messiahs and false leaders who will emerge. And all of this will pave the way for the Lord Jesus Christ to return, because HE IS THE REAL CALIPH who will lead all Believers in the world against the Great Satan, the Anti-Christ.

Yes, true Caliphs will emerge as well, but also false ones will emerge as well. And this thug Al-Baghdadi massacured Muslims left and right in Syria and helped Bashar Asad remain in power after he was cornered in Damascus. It was ISIS that smashed through the FREE SYRIAN ARMY and invaded what they liberated. The FSA got sandwiched between Asad's forces (Hizbullah included) and ISIS.

But all Hell is breaking loose in the Middle East now. The iron grips of the dictatorships is long gone. Thanks to George W. Bush for this and his 2 Trillion dollars for that. Not to mention 50,000 US soldiers wounded and killed. Now it seems tha the era of Prophecy fulfilments has begun. And Islam mentioned some serious dark days on that region. Not because they're bad. No. Because they're chosen by GOD Almighty to carry the Burden.

Take care,
Osama Abdallah

There are no etymological connections between the Greek word kephale and the Arabic word khalifa. In the first place, the consonantal letter order is different -- kh, l, f in the Arabic; k, ph, l in the Greek. Secondly, if khalifa were a loan word from the Greek kephale, it would have more naturally been transliterated with a kaf (or even qaf) at the beginning of the word rather than a kha. Third, there is a perfectly good word in Arabic for "head." What would be the purpose of importing a Greek word to express an idea already found in the Arabic language. More likely, it seems to me, if early Muslims wanted to indicate headship based on a Greco-Roman model they would have transliterated the term Caesar (in Arabic qaysar) and utilized that to show their ruler to be superior to that of Rome. The term khalifa does not inherentsly carry the notion of head, though it does in the context of the umma carry the notion of ruler since it means "successor" to Muhammad, who was the ruler of the Islamic nation. In its primary usage in the Qur'an (2:30) it mirrors the idea in Genesis 1 that God has created humankind as his viceregent/viceroy/representative on earth. In summary, I think you would be wise to drop the link between kephale and khalifa, as it is a misleading if not completely false connection.

The word Caliph is derived from the Arabic (not Greek) word Khalifa which does not mean "head" but means successor, i.e. to Muhammad. For me, this manner of linguistic sloppiness calls into question Dr. Costa's credibility.

Dear Osama Abdullah,
As-salamu alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakaatuhu "the peace be upon you".

You said above “And all of this will pave the way for the Lord Jesus Christ to return, because HE IS THE REAL CALIPH who will lead all Believers in the world against the Great Satan, the Anti-Christ.”

With this statement you acknowledged that Jesus is the Lord and He would lead His believers to Kingdom of God saving our souls from “Great Satan”. With your statement you also acknowledged that Jesus is now in Heaven, but we learnt from Quran that Muhammad is dead and his body buried in Medina. All Muslims pray to God for Muhammad to take him in Heaven. My question to you and all Muslims in what sense do you/they consider Muhammad is the greatest of all Prophets, but Jesus not, when Jesus is now in Heaven and would take His believers for eternal life at the end of the world not Muhammad?

May you be enlightened with the light of Jesus Christ! By birth of Jesus Christ people of the world received free gift from God so that Jesus’ believers do not die but get eternal life. John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

Let us believe Him fully not partially as simple prophet lower than Muhammad who is dead.

HAPPY AND PROSPEROUS NEW YEAR 2016 for all readers of answering Islam blog.

Brother Osama, the passages you cite only say "East". That is hopelessly vague and demonstrates no support for Islamic assertions about the return of Jesus.

The above criticisms regarding etymology notwithstanding I did enjoy the video so thanks to Answering Muslims for posting it.

This video describes how much IS welcomes the coming battle at Dabiq and is urging us to "bring it on" in a video called "No Respite":

Where in the Quran said it about antichrist?
And if you means Jesus, he warns for his followers NOT MUSLIMS!!! becouse Islam and the Quran is the ANTI CHRIST religon.

2 John 1:7 For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist.

Let me put it for you in Revelation .

Revelation 13:1-18

And I saw a beast (ALLAH) rising out of the sea, with ten horns and seven heads, with ten diadems on its horns and blasphemous names on its heads. And the beast that I saw was like a leopard; its feet were like a bear's, and its mouth was like a lion's mouth. And to it the dragon gave his power and his throne and great authority. One of its heads seemed to have a mortal wound, but its mortal wound was healed, and the whole earth marveled as they (Muslims, humanis and all other nation who do not follow Jesus) followed the beast. And they worshiped the dragon, for he had given his authority to the beast, and they worshiped the beast, saying, “Who is like the beast, and who can fight against it?” And the beast was given a mouth uttering haughty and blasphemous words, and it was allowed to exercise authority for forty-two months. ...

If Jesus return ALL MUSLIMS GO TO HELL becouse MUSLIMS REJECT the dead and rose fromm the dead of our LORD JESUS CHRIST !!!

Let me proof it to you from your own source

(Sahih-Al-Bukhari Bk 73; Num 224) Mohammed said, “The most awful name in Allah’s sight on the Day of Resurrection, will be (that of) a man calling himself Malik Al-Amlak (the King of kings).”

Think for a moment Osama, why said Allah that the most awful name in his sight on the Day of Resurraction will be that of a man (Jesus) calling himself Malik Al-Amlak (KING OF THE KINGS) why do you think Allah said this, take a moment Osama why.

Becouse Allah knows who Jesus is and why Jesus do to him when he return.

Revelation 20:10King James Version

10 And the devil (ALLAH) that deceived them (MUSLIMS) was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast (ALLAH) and the false prophet (MUHAMMED) are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.

This is why........................

1 John 2:22

Who is the liar but he who denies that Jesus is the Christ? This is the antichrist, he who denies the Father and the Son.

You MUSLIMS DENIES the Father and the Son!!!! Allah goes to hell

I also was going to say the same things that Mateen Elaas wrote, especially
1. that the K-l-f vs. k-ph-l seems to show that Caliph did not come from kephale, since the order of consonants is reversed in the last two consonants.
2. Kh خ would not be the normal letter derived from a Greek k, since Arabic also has k - ک.

Osama: I fear you're going to hit and run, as you usually do, but you were asked and never answered. (the last time you quoted Isiah).

What is your methodology for choosing scripture to point to, how do you know it's reliable?
Do you choose solely based on whether or not they agree with the Qouran/Hadith?
If so, do you think that might be circular, feeding the presumption that those verses are true (and others false) and cherry-picking verses you like with no objective logical methodology?

I hope you consider this and answer instead of just ignoring me (as I've noticed you do a lot). Ignoring tough questions only shows that perhaps you are not so sure yourself in what you believe if you're not willing to answer hard questions about your faith. I belive God is the way, the truth and the life (John 14:6) and He should be worshiped in spirit and truth (John 4:24).

@The holy Bible,

Malik Al-Amlak does not mean king of kings. It means owner of all possessions. Malik means owner if it's with long A, and king if it's with short A, and Amlaak means things that are owned. Mulook means kings.

As to 1 John 2:22, we've refuted this fabricated lie of yours at:

http://www.answering-christianity.com/1john2_22.htm

As to the beast, it is your ONE-EYED ANTI-CHRIST system that you and the rest of the world bows to. Islam has long Prophesied about this with mind-blowing Prophesies at:

@Stardusty Psyche,

Brother Stardusty, the Bible THOROUGHLY DEFINED THE EAST TO BE THE ARABS. Not only that, but East here means the immediate East to Israel. It certainly can't mean China or India. Jesus said that his return will be so Glorious in the East that it COULD NOT BE MISTAKEN FOR ANYTHING ELSE! This throws Israel in the garbage. Just about every Protestants' channel I listen to on either on TV or on the radio, almost always makes a great emphasis on how important Israel is. Yet, we see Jesus Christ and GOD Almighty in the OT dumping them.

And I already gave brought to everyone's attention the OT verses about:

1- GOD Almighty's Burden of Responsibilities will be upon on Arabia.
2- Arabia has not yet met its threshold, and the time of her harvest shall come.
3- THE GLORY OF GOD SHALL COME FROM ARABIA! This is an exact quote from the Bible.

4- Also, GOD Almighty will send a NEW SERVANT WITH A NEW COVENANT from the people of Kedar. Kedar was one of Ishmael's sons, and he settled in central Arabia where Mecca and Medina are.

5- The OT makes references to TWO SERVANTS THAT WILL COME. One will be born in Bethlehem. We know this is Jesus. The other will come from the TRIBES OF KEDAR in Arabia. We know that's Muhammad.

FURTHERMORE ON POINT 5, the OT also makes references to two Chariot Masters: One riding a donkey (we know Jesus entered Jerusalem on a donkey), and the other riding a cambel (we know Muhammad entered both Mecca and Medina on his camel).

There are ample other passages and references. Again, THE BURDEN WILL BE PLACED ON ARABIA! Not Israel or Jerusalem. Both Muhammad and Jesus are directly from Arabia. The former came from there, and the latter will return from there.

As to the OT references about the ISHAMELITES AND EDOMITES attacking Israel in the book of Ezekiel, Psalm 83 and others, ******** read the chapters before them in Ezekiel. They talk about Nebuchadnezzar's army and empire. So these aren't Prophecies. These are history.

Take care,
Osama Abdallah

Foolster41 said...

@Osama: Once again you ignored me I see. You point to OT scriptures but don't explain how you come about choosing which OT verses are true and which are "corrupted".

@Tsk Tsk: What on earth are you talking about? I never mentioned Obama or Bush. And you seriously think everything is Bush's fault? You don't think that maybe supporting militants who have been turning against us, making excuses for Islamic terror (blaming youtube videos) or empowering and emboldening Iran to get weapons might be cause of some of the current problems? Don't get me wrong, I despise Bush's foreign policy, but to say Obama's problems are all inherited from Bush is ridiculous propaganda.

The father of lies, satan is on both the shoulders of this very sad lost soul
@Osama Abdallah claims:
"Yet, we see Jesus Christ and GOD Almighty in the OT dumping them."

Genesis 12:3
3 "I will bless those who bless you,
And I will curse him who curses you;
And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”

Psalms 119:90
"Your faithfulness endures to all generations; You have established the earth, and it stands fast."

Lamentations 3:22-23
"The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases; His mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness."

Who would I believe, The God of Abraham or you osama, the child of the father of lies, satan?

The only one who is doing "dumping" is an entity named allah, the father of lies, satan!

Foolster41 said...

Once again crickets from Osama when he's asked hard questions. He quotes from biblical prophets, but cuts and chooses only those elements that agree with him and ignores the rest, and when questioned about how this might be a bit dishonest, and to explain his methodology for picking which verses of the OT or NT scriptures that remain "uncorrupted" he disconnects his phone and leaves town for a week.

Admit it, Osama. You don't really believe what you are defending. At least leave Islam, and see how hateful it is and acknowledge how hateful it makes you (blaming Jews doing "false flag" for things that Muslims do).

Ok said...

is it ok to refer to Muhammad as the Prophet of Islam who inspired the writers of the Koran and is it ok to refer to Paul as the Apostle of Christ who was inspired by Christ Himself.
