I caught up during the callers' segment so I've got some catching up to do later. There was another Islam/Christian related mini debate on TVO in Canada. Michael Coren was promoting his book and they brought in Shabir Ally among others to respond to him. Coren held his own fort well, but Ally to my surprise, pulled an Aslan.
When asked about the New Testament condoning violence, he quoted I believe, Luke 19:27 as proof (yikes). Then goes on to say (paraphrasing here) that despite Jesus' portrayal as the prince of peace, "scholars have concluded" he was trying to overthrow Rome and so forth. Sounds familiar?

The rest of the exchange is definitely worth watching too. It was aired today and will be available online later:

Of what I was able to catch on reruns; Very useful discussions you had. I was only able to see some of the re-runs. I especially want to see the one with Farhan Qureshi - I was not able to see that one very long. I hope you re-post them all here.

1. Bill Warner's comment about the Muslim sources having a duality is so true - Muslims can find 2 different and opposite meaning verses for any situation. They cannot be harmonized, so it shows that Allah is capricious and arbitrary; Allah does not live by a fixed moral character; Allah does whatever He wants; He is capricious.

2. Can you produce the Hadith , and with reference; and/or in the Tarikh of Al Tabari, if only there, etc. or both if in both) with the reference about Abu Bakr and the price of a rope and the Wars of Apostasy? I googled but could not find exact reference.

That was an important point - every thing is considered rebellion against Allah and Muhammad, any little thing seems to be interpreted as apostasy and / or rebellion and /or blasphemy.

Sahih al-Bukhari 7284—When Allah’s Messenger died and Abu Bakr was elected as a caliph after him, some of the Arabs reverted to disbelief. Umar said to Abu Bakr, “How dare you fight the people while Allah’s Messenger said, ‘I have been ordered to fight the people till they say: La ilaha illallah. And whoever says La ilaha illallah, saves his wealth and his life from me unless he deserves a legal punishment justly, and his account will be with Allah.’” Abu Bakr said, “By Allah, I will fight him who discriminates between Zakat and Salat (prayers), for Zakat is the compulsory right to be taken from the wealth. By Allah, if they refuse to give me even a tying rope which they used to give to Allah’s Messenger, I would fight them for withholding it.”

The Muslim cleric is correct when he says the Christianity of today is far removed from that of Jesus Christ with all the pagan festivals and change in the Sabbath from Saturday to Sunday. We as Christians have to worship God in truth not error. Who did Jesus pray to is answered in Philippians 2:5. The Jews wanted to stone him for blasphemy when He said 'Before Abraham was I AM' John 8:58 saying He is God. All the sacrifices in the Old Testament pointed forward to the antitype Jesus; the lamb slain from the foundation of the world. You need to bring to the Muslims the facts of why they sacrifice animals as a sin offering. It is not by might or power but by His Spirit that a person is transformed to Jesus Christ
