Nigeria: Kidnapped Girls Being Sold for as Little as $12

When we point out that the Qur'an allows Muslim men to capture and rape girls and women, we're called "racists" and "Islamophobes," even though we're quoting Muslim sources to prove what we're saying. Truth, however, doesn't seem to mean much nowadays, so the response to our claims really amounts to: "We don't care what the Qur'an says, as long as you don't hurt the feelings of Westernized Muslims who just want to feel good about their religion."

The problem with this response is that, like it or not, some Muslims take the Qur'an seriously. As long as we continue to ignore what the Qur'an says (in the name of "tolerance"), Muslim groups like Boko Haram will continue to capture and rape girls. Do the feelings of the girls and their families matter, too? If so, we need to speak the truth, no matter what kind of abuse is hurled at us by groups like CAIR.

NBC News—Mothers marched Wednesday in Nigeria to protest government inaction more than two weeks after 200 school girls were kidnapped by Boko Haram, a terror group operating with near impunity in the region — and which has reportedly sold many of the girls into slavery or marriage for as little as $12.

The rally came on the same day that the U.S. State Department released its annual global terrorism report, which names Boko Haram as one of the most dangerous groups in the world — ranking next to the Taliban in Afghanistan and al-Qaeda factions in Iraq and the Arabian Peninsula — and said they the group was responsible for at least 1,000 deaths in 2013.

"Boko Haram" translates to "Western Education is Sinful," so it has been attacking Nigerian schools since its founding in the early 2000s. But the April 14 attack at the Government Girls Secondary School in the Nigerian town of Chibok sent shocks around the world: More than 200 girls were taken, and weeks later it's still unclear where they are.

"There are still at least 230 girls being held," Mausi Segun, Nigeria researcher for Human Rights Watch, told NBC News from Nigeria. "Some of them have been taken across the border to Cameroon. Some of them have been taken to Chad. A few of them are still in the country, but their whereabouts [are] difficult to ascertain at this time."

The girls' identities have been withheld by the Nigerian government, which cites security concerns.

"We know little about the girls except they were in the highest class of secondary school in Nigeria," said Segun. "Most of them are between the ages of 16 and 18 years old."

According to community leaders in Nigeria, the young women are being forced to marry the Islamic extremists who kidnapped them.

The students are being sold for 2,000 naira — about $12 — to marry the fighters, Halite Aliyu of the Borno-Yobe People's Forum told The Associated Press in Lagos.

She said reports of mass weddings are coming from villagers in the Sambisa Forest, on Nigeria's border with Cameroon, where Boko Haram is known to have hideouts.

"The latest reports are that they have been taken across the borders, some to Cameroon and Chad," Aliyu said.

Pogu Bitrus, a community elder in Chibok, the town where the girls were abducted, told the BBC that some of the girls "have been married off to insurgents [in] a medieval kind of slavery."

"You go and capture women and then sell them off," he said. (Continue Reading.)

They are following the teaching of Islam and following the SAME PATH Muhammad did.

Muhammad kidnapped girls, raped them and than sold them off or traded them, and married them off as child brides.

Islam is Satanic.

Jewish rabbi uses Torah to prove the Quran is false. Who would know Jewish history more? An illiterate Arab or a learned Jew using the Torah?

The media prefer the nickname “Boko Haram” because the full name is very long. However, its first and last words are “Party for …Jihad”. That clarifies it.

David, could you do a Jesus or Muhammad show proving that this was both practiced and authorized by Muhammad?

An example of Muhammad’s questionable ethics is his marriage to a seventeen-year-old Jewish girl named Safiyyah whom he took from the plunder of Khaibar:

Narrated Abdul Aziz:
Anas said, "When Allah's Apostle invaded Khaibar, we offered the Fajr prayer there (early in the morning) when it was still dark. The Prophet rode and Abu Talha rode too and I was riding behind Abu Talha. The Prophet passed through the lane of Khaibar quickly and my knee was touching the thigh of the Prophet. He uncovered his thigh and I saw the whiteness of the thigh of the Prophet. When he entered the town, he said, ‘Allahu Akbar! Khaibar is ruined. Whenever we approach near a (hostile) nation (to fight) then evil will be the morning of those who have been warned.’ He repeated this thrice. The people came out for their jobs and some of them said, ‘Muhammad (has come).’ (Some of our companions added, ‘With his army.’) We conquered Khaibar, took the captives, and the booty was collected. Dihya came and said, ‘O Allah's Prophet! Give me a slave girl from the captives.’ The Prophet said, ‘Go and take any slave girl.’ He took Safiya bint Huyai. A man came to the Prophet and said, ‘O Allah's Apostle! You gave Safiya bint Huyai to Dihya and she is the chief mistress of the tribes of Quraiza and An-Nadir and she befits none but you.’ So the Prophet said, ‘Bring him along with her.’ So Dihya came with her and when the Prophet saw her, he said to Dihya, ‘Take any slave girl other than her from the captives.’" Anas added: "The Prophet then manumitted her and married her."

Thabit asked Anas, "O Abu Hamza! What did the Prophet pay her (as Mahr)?" He said, "Her self was her Mahr for he manumitted her and then married her." Anas added, "While on the way, Um Sulaim dressed her for marriage (ceremony) and at night she sent her as a bride to the Prophet. So the Prophet was a bridegroom and he said, ‘Whoever has anything (food) should bring it.’ He spread out a leather sheet (for the food) and some brought dates and others cooking butter. (I think he (Anas) mentioned As-Sawaq). So they prepared a dish of Hais (a kind of meal). And that was Walima (the marriage banquet) of Allah's Apostle." (Sahih al-Bukhari, Volume 1, Book 8, Number 367)

Muhammad was so captivated by her beauty that he gave up seven slaves for her!

(2991) Anas said: A beautiful slave-girl fell to Dihyah. The Apostle of Allah purchased her for seven slaves. He then gave her to Umm Sulaim for decorating her and preparing her for marriage. The narrator Hammad said: Safiyyah daughter of Huyayy should pass her waiting period in her (Umm Sulaim’s) house. (Sunan Abu Dawud, English translation with Explanatory Notes by Prof. Ahmad Hasan [Sh. Muhammad Ashraf Publishers, Booksellers & Exporters; Lahore, Pakistan, 1984], Volume II, Book XIII. Kitab al-Kharaj (Book of Tribute, Spoils & Rulership), Chapter 1109: On the Special Portion of the Prophet Taken Exclusively By Him From The Booty, p. 848)

The translator says at this point:

2414. As Safiyyah was already married and her husband had been killed, it was necessary for her to wait till she was purified for remarriage. (Ibid.)

The fact that she was married and that her husband was killed because of Muhammad is repeated elsewhere in the Sunan:

(2989) Anas b. Malik said: We came to Khaibar. When Allah bestowed the conquest of fortress (on us), the beauty of Safiyyah, daughter of Huyayy was mentioned to him (the Prophet). Her husband was killed (in the battle) and she was a bride. The Apostle of Allah chose her for himself. He came out with her till we reached Sadd al-Sahba, where she was purified. So he cohabited with her.

Lies!! Where in the quran does it say rape is welcomed. Gross and hateful website. Is this your representation of Christianity? A bunch of losers coming together for the sake of hate, good God!!

Ossob said: "Lies!! Where in the quran does it say rape is welcomed."

I guess you didn't visit the link at the beginning. It gives the historical background of Qur'an 4:24. Allah tells the Muslims it's okay to have sex with female captives in the presence of their husbands. That's called "rape."

Ossob said: 'Gross and hateful website."

Why? Because we quote the Qur'an? Are you calling the Qur'an "gross and hateful"?

Ossob said: "Is this your representation of Christianity?"

Fearlessly speaking the truth and defending girls from Islam? Yes.

P.A.Spayd said...

Well said David! Mr Ossob obviously writes "LIES!" without a clue from his koran which is perhaps sitting on a dusty shelf rather than in hand and being actually READ! Wouldn't one think to check citations listed before responding? To say, "Well, let's see the reference here.... what the koran actually says on that subject...?" What a great pity to demonstrate such intolerance and once again, blame Christians for what the koran states. I've been on several websites and when I cite the koran as the source of some barbaric islamic practice, I also get ""LIES!"" written back at me and I have the koran in front of me looking at the text. Most of the mohammedans start the written howls that We of the Educated West are telling "LIES" on their rotten, foul koran. It's there, black and white. But, oh, that's translation's not in Arabic, and one mohammedan told me there were 50 meanings for a word in arabic. I laughed and laughed. So 'slaves you possess by your right hand" - so in arabic 'slaves you posses in your LEFT hand?"

I don't see my comments being approved. Not defending anyone but have a thought. Does Koran say that Muslims are allowed to have sex with women who are in slavery against their will? Does Koran say anything about what these women have to do? Can they marry another man if they want to? As I know Muslim women are allowed to divorce their husbands.

You haven't posted any other comments.

As for what Islam teaches about sex with captives, the only requirement is capturing the women. Are you suggesting that what Muhammad meant by having sex with captured women in the presence of their husbands is that the Muslims need to ask permission?

yall are just downright stupid your saying it's okay to have boom boom pow with captives but it's not the same thing as rape. You know what just shutup don't hurt yourself's this is all stupid appreantly some of you radicial muslimah's find it's right to sex rape women in then throw their bodies into a giantic oven and burn it the way the nazi's did to the jews in ww2

Read and give up lying
And [also prohibited to you are all] married women except those your right hands possess. [This is] the decree of Allah upon you. And lawful to you are [all others] beyond these, [provided] that you seek them [in marriage] with [gifts from] your property, desiring chastity, not unlawful sexual intercourse. So for whatever you enjoy [of marriage] from them, give them their due compensation as an obligation. And there is no blame upon you for what you mutually agree to beyond the obligation. Indeed, Allah is ever Knowing and Wise

You ASK them to marry and they can refuse. You MARRY them, just as you marry a muslim woman with gifts and respect. An unlawful intercourse in prohibited.

I know you are afraid of Islam: it is the same message the other Prophets brought, Jesus included, stripped from the lies that years were added to get rid of the difficult parts... I was a Christian for 40 years. I was a teacher of catholic religion. I worked for your Papal Missionary organisation for over 20 years... And when I met the Islam without the lyinng interference of people like you, I became a Muslim because I saw that Muslims follow Jesus more than Christians do. Think. Pray. Dare!

@Marijke Snoeck Ha ha, you're funny. In trying to put a damning passage in a positive light, you skim over the part that makes it so bad (but kudos for including it, as I'm sure other Muslims would be too afraid to include it since it's so devastating to their case).

The biggest offending part is the first line, which ends, "...except those your right hands possess." In other words, slave girls & women.

There's still time to turn back, you know.
