Muhammad: The Suicidal Messenger

According to the Qur'an, Muhammad is the pattern of conduct for Muslims (Surah 33:21). Yet the Muslim sources show that, when Muhammad became upset, he would try to kill himself. Is this the sort of moral example anyone should ever be following?

Here are the two passages we quoted in the video:

Ibn Ishaq, p. 106—[Muhammad said,] “So I read it, and he departed from me. And I awoke from my sleep, and it was as though these words were written on my heart. (T. Now none of God's creatures was more hateful to me than an (ecstatic) poet or a man possessed: I could not even look at them. I thought, Woe is me poet or possessed—Never shall Quraysh say this of me! I will go to the top of the mountain and throw myself down that I may kill myself and gain rest. So I went forth to do so and then) when I was midway on the mountain, I heard a voice from heaven saying, “O Muhammad! thou art the apostle of God and I am Gabriel.”

Sahih al-Bukhari 6982— . . . But after a few days Waraqa died and the Divine Revelation was also paused for a while and the Prophet became so sad as we have heard that he intended several times to throw himself from the tops of high mountains and everytime he went up to the top of a mountain in order to throw himself down, Jibril would appear before him and say, “O Muhammad! You are indeed Allah’s Messenger in truth”, whereupon his heart would become quiet and he would calm down and would return home. And whenever the period of the coming of the Revelation used to become long, he would do as before, but when he used to reach the top of a mountain, Jibril would appear before him and say to him what he had said before.

Well the thing is David Jesus Christ was also accused of being possessed LOL not only Muhammad, read your Bible before RUNNING your mouth.Mark 3-21 reads.....And when his friends heard of it, they went out to lay hold on him: for they said, He is beside himself.Mark 3-22 reads....The scribes who came down from Jerusalem were saying, "He is possessed by Beelzebul," and "He casts out the demons by the ruler of the demons.David prophets were accuse of being POSSESSED but they weren't ,David if you think prophet Muhammad was possessed that wasn't the CASE he is possessed in your HEAD only it has nothing to do with the reality Hahah again prophet Muhammad was possessed in your HEAD only.David do you even know that, most of the Rabbis of Medina ACCEPTED him as a final prophet of God?? if he was a LIAR or POSSESSED person then why those Jewish Rabbis accepted him as a prophet of God ???

Prince John said: "Christ was also accused of being possessed"

Who said anything about Muhammad being ACCUSED of being possessed. We're talking about MUHAMMAD HIMSELF CONCLUDING THAT HE WAS POSSESSED BASED ON HIS EXPERIENCE IN THE CAVE.

When did Jesus conclude that he was possessed by a jinn? When did any prophet in the Bible conclude that he was possessed by a demon?

Prince John said: "David do you even know that, most of the Rabbis of Medina ACCEPTED him as a final prophet of God??"

Most of the rabbis? Nonsense. There were three tribes of Jews in Medina. Muhammad expelled two of the tribes and slaughtered the third, taking their women, children, and possessions as war booty.

But if living in a fantasy world makes you feel better about your prophet, that's up to you.

Hey! You just reminded me that I need to post another video about your prophet!

prince John said, "Well the thing is David Jesus Christ was also accused of being possessed LOL not only Muhammad, read your Bible before RUNNING your mouth(.)"

prince John, you used a period! Actual punctuation! Bad grammar but you did it!

I can't believe I'm saying this, I'm proud of you!

Okay onto your argument.

"Well the thing is David Jesus Christ was also accused of being possessed LOL not only Muhammad, read your Bible before RUNNING your mouth."

Yes, by Pharisees who knew he wasn't possessed. You need to read the text a little better.

"David prophets were accuse of being POSSESSED but they weren't "

No they weren't. No prophet was ever accused of being possessed. Ever. They were kicked, hit, had beards pulled, exiled, thrown into muddy (and maybe poopy) pits, hidden in caves, expelled and threatened. Isaiah was even sawn in half during a pagan ritual.

Never possessed.

"David if you think prophet Muhammad was possessed that wasn't the CASE he is possessed in your HEAD only it has nothing to do with the reality Hahah again prophet Muhammad was possessed in your HEAD only."

Muhammad was possessed. He even said he was possessed. Other people saw him rolling around on the ground in one of his 'inspiring' fits where he foamed at the mouth and when he stopped multiple voices would come out of his mouth.

That, my dear prince John, is identified in the bible as DEMON POSSESSION.

You need to read your sources a little more closely.

"David do you even know that, most of the Rabbis of Medina ACCEPTED him as a final prophet of God?? "

If that were the case he wouldn't have turned into an antisemitic! They asked for a sign (Deuteronomy) and he said no.

No sign. No prophet.

Besides, whatever hadith you would dig up came 200 years after the event written by MUSLIMS probably engaged in some sort of da'wah.

"if he was a LIAR or POSSESSED person then why those Jewish Rabbis accepted him as a prophet of God ???"

By the way, after you end a statement with a period and want to move on to the next statement, that first word is always capitalized.

Your statement should have gone like this :
"David( comma needs to go here,) do you even know that most of the Rabbis of Medina ACCEPTED him as a final prophet of God?? (If) he was a LIAR or POSSESSED....."

Do you see how much better that would read?

I'm just going to post corrections to your bad grammar but love, love, LOVE that you're finally using periods.

On to your last statement:

"if he was a LIAR or POSSESSED person then why those Jewish Rabbis accepted him as a prophet of God ???"

When was Muhammad being a Liar introduced. This isn't even relevant unless this is that Muslim you guys do. You know, that 'I disagree with you, so I will just call you a liar.'

Second, Rabbis are always Jewish so it's kind of redundant to call a Rabbi 'Jewish'.

Well, maybe if you're Messianic, but I think you still have to be Jewish even then.

Third, were these still Rabbis after accepting Muhammad? Because that would make them Muslim Imams, not Rabbis.

@prince John

If Muhammad was a true prophet because most of the Rabbi's accepted him then would that not make Isa a false prophet since most of the Rabbi’s rejected him?

Since there is a mountain of evidence which proves that Muhammad was a fraud then it may have been because “Allah is the best of deceivers”.

David if you don't know that most Jewish Rabbis of Medina accepted Muhammad then its not my fault your knowledge is week that's what it means go educate yourself sir

Ibn Ishaq describes in great detail Muhammad's migration from Mecca to Medina in 622 AD and his initial relationships there. Medina at the time had a majority Jewish population, with educated and prosperous tribes that had migrated there from Jerusalem after being exiled by Roman emperors centuries before. As described in Muhammad and the Jews, Part One, Part Two, and Part Three, Muhammad fully expected these Jews to welcome him as the Prophet he claimed to be. The non-Jewish Arabs of Medina, as noted here, accepted him as their tribal leader in large part to unite them and give them supremacy over the Jews.

Instead of believing in Muhammad, according to Ibn Ishaq, "the Jewish rabbis showed hostility to the Apostle in envy, hatred, and malice, because God had chosen His Apostle from the Arabs...they used to annoy the Apostle with questions and introduce confusion, so as to confound the truth with falsity." Ibn Ishaq even listed some of these questions including this classic, "Why do children sometimes resemble their mothers when the semen comes from the man?" What was the Prophet of God's scientific response? "By God, do you not know that a man's semen is white and thick, while a woman's is yellow and thin? The child will resemble that which first comes to the top!"

Ibn Ishaq went on to name every single Rabbi who opposed Muhammad, as well as those who accepted Islam. Sixty-five Rabbis "stirred up trouble against Islam to try to extingiush it". Only two, Mukhayriq and Abdullah bin Salam, accepted Islam.

There is no indication any of these 65 Rabbis ever accepted Islam. One of them, Labid bin Asam, "bewitched the Prophet of God so that he could not come near his wives" for a year, a little-known fact that most Western Muslims would deny but which has been accepted as true throughout Muslim history.

Among the most vocal of the Jewish Rabbis who questioned Muhammad were three brothers named Huyayy, Abu Yasir, and Judayy. They were exiled a few years later when Muhammad forced their Nadir tribe from Medina and expropriated their goods and property. Huyayy and his young son happened to be back in Medina the following year and were included among the 800 men and boys Muhammad beheaded in his final expulsion of all remaining Jews from the city. Huyayy's daughter Sofiya was exiled to Khaybar where she married a young man named Kinana. When Muhammad raided Khaybar the following year, he tortured and beheaded Kinana to steal his money, and then "married" Sofiya the same night. Muslims still believe this brutal rape was just another example of a young woman "choosing" Muhammad as her husband.

I invite any Muslim scholar who reads this post to verify Green's claim that half the Rabbis of Medina accepted Islam. Until they do so, I'll believe this is just another example of a Muslim apologist deliberately presenting false information to convince non-Muslims (and perhaps quell the doubts of thinking and questioning Muslims) that Muhammad is indeed a Prophet of God and the religion he created is true.

@David,

I think prince John went to a site he thought was pro-islamic!!! Look at the last verse:

"I invite any Muslim scholar who reads this post to verify Green's claim that half the Rabbis of Medina accepted Islam. And since I'm on a grammar narc, this is a perfectly punctuated article.

David I know very well that this post agree with you, I want you to read what IGNORANT people like you say about Islam, this POST is FAR from the truth everything in this post has been taken OUT OF CONTEXT

David Wood said...

Brilliant move, John!

So your plan was this:

(1) Make an absurd claim about most Jewish rabbis believing in Muhammad.

(2) Call me ignorant when I point out that you've made an absurd claim.

(3) Post a decisive refutation of your own absurd claim in order to show me that ignorant people make airtight arguments.

(4) Avoid giving any actual evidence to support your absurd claim.

Wow! Islamic apologetics at its finest! Muhammad would be so proud of you!

this is getting absurd from the muslim.

posting a a claim that disagrees with you and calling the people who made it ignorant without providing any substantive proof and he has the burden of proof.

The only idiot here is still you. Be clearer when you post.

One thing not addressed;

Muhammad not only tried to kill himself once after the supposed Angel Gabriel came to him...but SEVERAL TIMES. This means that Muhammad DID NOT believe that it was Angel Gabriel that had been visiting him several times after first contact

It was only AFTER his wife and his cousin who were worried he would kill himself TOLD HIM, that the thing visiting him was from God.

Before that Muhammad was SURE it was a demon. So it was not just once, but SEVERAL TIMES Muhammad did not believe it was Gabriel but a demon.

Notice that after the first time he continued to believe it was a demon and not an angel from God until his DESPERATE wife and her cousin convinced him it was an angel.

Meaning Muhammad did not believe the so-called Angel Gabriel DOZENS of times when he came to him.

Prince John said, "Its pointless to argue with you guys(Deleting, arron,rs roudh, bob, rivan etc)"

Because we're right. You posted our proof Rabbis in Medina didn't accept him. Good job there...

"Hahaha your Hero David doesn't even know that the Rabbis of Madina became Muslims yet he call himself a scholar, if he doesn't know that you guys certainly don't know that's why be quiet."

Then they were no longer Rabbis you stupid clod!

"Your hero David is hiding LOTS of Truth from you he knows that the Jews knew it about the coming of Muhammad, he knows that Muhammad is indeed mentioned in the Bible yet he refuses to believe that "

I thought you were going to start using periods again.

Oh well.

He is mentioned in the bible. David does know this. He's in the same general section that Joseph Smith, Ellen G White, The Zoroastrian guy and whatever Hindu Guru comes along not to mention the guy who started sikhism.
It's the section on false prophets..

Matthew 24:24 "For false messiahs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect."

In many respects, Muhammad claimed to be the anointed one the bible talked about.

The bible talks about Christ so you're wrong again there.

"I asked David to tell me Deu 18-18 to 19 is talking about WHO ?? no answer from him I'm still waiting"

Post the thread where you said that because I have (woefully and with great pain) read all your posts, parced out what I thought you said, and responded and you never asked it.

Deut 18:18 is talking about the prophets who God would raise up. The requirement was they would be israelites. Never EVER were they to appoint a leader or prophet or give serious office to anyone not an israelite.
In greater fulfillment, it's speaking of Jesus.
And no one standing there listening to Moses as he gave this law would have looked to Saudi Arabia for fulfillment so once again #epicislamicfail

care to provide any historical writings on it? yet again all flash but no substance

"yet he refuses to believe that I asked David to tell me Deu 18-18 to 19 is talking about WHO"

you mean you just started waiting? ROFL because in this post no other mention of deut18:18-19 was mention. this is really getting funny. for a muslim you are showing some terrible memory or you are just a liar.

also on a previous post on a different topic on the blog u claiming the bible was corrupted. which means that to use something corrupted to support your claim .this is absurdity at its finest

Funny that John appeals to Deuteronomy 18:18-19, but leaves out 18:20, which plainly declares that Muhammad cannot be a prophet.

We've refuted this argument numerous times. Here are a few (not that John cares enough to examine the evidence, but I'll post the refutations for others):

I haven't read all the comments, so please forgive me if I mention anything that has already been here. being someone who myself has received messages and has had angels push me forward, I can tell you quite clearly, that God does use fear as a motivating factor, though it is quite crude and does not work as well as working through us in love. God knows our hearts, and even though he (Mohammad) felt fear here, it does not mean that Gabriel was trying to hurt him, just push him to read the scroll. Even Mohammad was but a man. He felt fear just the same as you and I. Jesus also was claimed to have been possessed.Sometimes we don't understand why something isn't going to hurt us, and we just fear it because we fear the power of the source (in this case, the greatness of Gabriel). If someone is afraid, it doesn't matter if you push a gun in their face or a scroll, they will see them both with equal fear. As for the words making him feel the way he was feeling (suicidal), I have to say that the words of the scroll must have been pretty powerful. Mohammad says about now knowing what he knows: "Now none of God’s creatures was more hateful to me than an (ecstatic) poet or a man possessed: I could not even look at them. I thought, Woe is me poet or possessed." He's saying that now when he looks at people, he doesn't see them the same way. He says he can't even look at them. I have felt this way, when you awaken and you see how everyone is being poisoned and rushing around not even realize what they are doing, and they won't even listen to you if you tell them so. I went into a deep depression for a day or so when i first came to the knowledge that the world is controlled this way and there wasn't anything i could do about it (conventionally). I was basically catatonic for a day, but I got over it. Sometimes you have to go through that in awakening.
"Make no mistake about it, enlightenment is a destructive process. It has nothing to do with becoming better or being happier. Enlightenment is the crumbling away of untruth. It's seeing through the facade of pretense. It's the complete eradication of everything we imagined to be true." ~Adyashanti
