FoxNews—Four Iranian Christians were reportedly sentenced to 80 lashes for drinking wine for communion, a shocking punishment meted out even as a new United Nations report blasted the Islamic republic for its systematic persecution of non-Muslims.
The four men were sentenced Oct. 6 after being arrested in a house church last December and charged with consuming alcohol in violation of the theocracy's strict laws, according to Christian Solidarity Worldwide. They were among several Christians punished for their faith in a nation where converting from Islam to Christianity can bring the death penalty. According to a new October UN report by Ahmed Shaheed, UN special rapporteur on human rights in Iran, such persecution is common, despite new President Hasan Rouhani's pledge to be a moderate.
“At least 20 Christians were in custody in July 2013," Shaheed wrote. "In addition, violations of the rights of Christians, particularly those belonging to evangelical Protestant groups, many of whom are converts, who proselytize to and serve Iranian Christians of Muslim background, continue to be reported.” (Continue Reading.)

The persecution of Christians in the Muslim world has continued for nearly fourteen centuries. Yet, according to Western Muslim organizations like CAIR and ISNA, as well as most politicians and media groups, only racists would object to the Islamic doctrines that give rise to this persecution.

What the Fox News article does not tell you is that the Christians are being blamed for the disappearance of the hordes of cheap wine that had been stashed by the various Imams, Mullahs, Satraps, Astrologers, Magicians, Governors and Viceroys of the corrupt Iranian regime.
As you might expect, the Christians have been using grape juice for YEARS but the corrupt officials of the even more corrupt Iranian regime are upset because they've gone looking for their Boone's Farm, their Ripple, their Thunderbird and their Mad Dog 20/20 and have often come back empty handed.
Many Iranian Christians have even been using grape-flavored KOOLAID in hopes of avoiding incurring the wrath of the WINO officials (Worshipers of Allahu Ohynksmorr In Name Only) - but to no avail.
The regime will blame anyone handy without considering that a great number of their own Aye-ahtillahs are spending their prayer time blind-face-down, puking drunk on their prayer mats. [And no WONDER they have such horrid prayer bumps on their foreheads... and so much vomit in their beards (not even the henna will hide all of that...)]
The Iranian regime officials are just going to have to deal with the increasing thefts from their stashes or, they'll just have to explain to everyone that they've received a new wartfah from Allahu Ohynksmorr that commands them to consume "communion wine" (for medicinal and sacred purposes of course) so they can openly get their Thunderbird on whenever they wish.
And leave the Christians to their grape juice & koolaid.

Why shouldn't they be able to freely drink what they want, especially in private? That is the issue.

If by choice they want to do it that way, then they should equally have the freedom to do that. The point is that they should have a freely chosen choice. Additionally, their conscience should be at peace with their decision, independently of Islam or any other ideology.

First, understand what this means in Christian context. Funny thing is that Muslims don't have much flexibility when it comes to giving up their religious customs. They always try to impose them on others. Non Islamic lands generally try to accommodate Muslims to a fault and Muslims take advantage and try to take over and implement their traditions and customs on them. Where is the Islamic version of accommodation?
