Ramadan Violence 2012

The Religion of Peace website keeps track of annual Ramadan violence. Less than two weeks into Ramadan 2012, nearly 400 people have been killed in the name of Islam. No one has been killed in the name of all other religions combined or in the name of Islamophobia.

Thank you brother David, for tabulating this, as I am quite disgusted with the way muslims make sweeping statements that islam is
"peaceful"!
islam is at "loggerheads", with all major religions of the world using violence!

Glen over at "TheReligionofPeace.com" did the tabulating.

Ah Yes, its tabulated by "TheReligionofPeace.com"

Thank you.

This website is a joke. Their claims are not substantiated, and they mix the Arab Spring uprising with the accidental deaths and the clashes with governments' forces (that if those deaths that they listed actually occured).

I can produce a number that is 10 times (I am being very generous here) of similar fatalities that occured in the West from drinking and driving to gang activities. Aren't these also acts of terrorism?

Osama why won't you admit Islam is inherently violent?

Osama- How does drinking and driving and gang activities have anything to do with Christianity?
I have followed the links off the 'Religion of peace' site and they are real deaths by real terrorists who are True Muslims!

Osama - the "uprisings" are islamic violence in the name of mohammed to create his "caliphate". Don't you ever wonder why it is your god expects you to be his hit men??

Wah.... if osama is construed as a "moderate" muslim, then we are in the end times.

I would like to throw up a thought here :

In the Bible we have 2 events where our God "cleansed" the world or a place of evil, when evil was dominant, ie during the Flood & at Sodom & Gomorrah, therefore if islam becomes the dominant "religion", that would mean evil is dominant.... that would signal the 2nd coming is at hand, we Christians can look forward to the rupture! :)

@Osama: Drunk driving is not terrorism! Once again you are being completely dishonest! What reliion allows Drunk driving and gang violence? You claimed Christianity, but they FORBID those things (getting drunk, thus drunk driving). You still havn't apollogized for this, and seem to be doubling down on this and making this false claim ONCE AGAIN!

@Osama

I would have to disagree with you when you say that drunk driving is an act of terrorism. I think what they are trying to say is that these terrorist activities are religious based and these criminals are doing it because they believe they are commanded to do so in Islam. However, this is where I would disagree with them as Islam does not encourage, promote terrorism in any way.

I agree with Tom, I am almost tried of these lies, that Osama and his friends are making. We are looking forward for rapture.

Terrorism is a choice to do evil.
The terrorist is very result-oriented, focused, and destructive even if he makes a mistake.

The drunk driver is unfocused.
His decision-making is incomplete, because his judgment is eviscerated.
He may be destructive to others, or he may be lucky.
Either way, there's only contrast between these two.

I live in a free society.
In it, drunk driving is forbidden, and if such people are caught, they are punished.
This is the price we pay for being free.

Terrorists wish to destroy my free society and deny my free will.
They are profane, because they abuse humanity itself.
Ramadan is interpreted as blood-atonement by these sword-carrying fanatics.
The sacrifice they would demand is the life of the infidel or free spirit.
Islam is profane.

Allah encourages and promotes terrorism in Quran 8:12: "I will instill terror into the hearts of the Unbelievers: smite ye above their necks and smite all their finger-tips off them."

Mohammad encouraged and promoted terrorism in Sahih Bukhari 4:52:220: “I have been made victorious with terror[ism]”

Osama recently i saw a video of Syrian rebels killing soldiers saying out loud "Allah hu Ackbar" so i think everything is related to Islam, meaning Islam is everything but peaceful.

Samatar, your words would be more honest if you said them as an individual, not as a Muslim.
"I, Samatar, do not encourage or promote terrorism in any way."
To see an individual repudiate violence and terrorism creates a contract between that person and his fellow human beings.
It means that in spite of the bloody imperatives of your faith, you have committed yourself to non-violence.
Keep the commitment and you will be admired--- as an individual.
Only other Muslims can admire you as a Muslim.
This is the West.
Here, the individual is accountable for everything he asserts and does.

I myself am against any form of violence that is not defensive. If you are defending yourself and such I have nothing against violence to fight opression and maintain peace. However, I am against offensive violence such as forcing people into your faith. But I do want to ask you a question if you do not mind. If in Christianity (or whatever you follow) you were commanded to to spread your faith by violence would you continue to follow it or would you leave it? The reason I ask this is because I was wondering if you were against offensive violence because you as a human being know it is wrong, or is it because you religion admonishes it.

True Islam just promotes no.. commands Jihad, which involves terrorizing and subduing the kuffar. #Doublespeak

Well that's my position anyways. I don't believe that terrorizing the nonbelievers offensively has anything to do with Jihad. But here's a question I had for any christian so please give me your opinion on this. If in Christianity you were commanded to to spread your faith by violence would you continue to follow it or would you leave it? The reason I ask this is because I was wondering if you were against offensive violence because you as a human being know it is wrong, or is it because you religion admonishes it.

" Well that's my position anyways."

but is it Quran and Sunnah, is it the majority view of the umma ?

" I don't believe that terrorizing the nonbelievers offensively has anything to do with Jihad. "

Then why did Muhammad and his rightly guided kulafah and Muslim rulers down the ages offensively terrorize the Kuffar ? Is Islam what you do or what they did?

YUSUFALI: Fighting is prescribed for you, and ye dislike it. But it is possible that ye dislike a thing which is good for you, and that ye love a thing which is bad for you. But Allah knoweth, and ye know not.

Tanwîr al-Miqbâs min Tafsîr Ibn ‘Abbâs says concerning this verse:
" (Warfare is ordained for you) in times of a general call to arms with the Prophet (pbuh)"

Doesn't say anything about only terrorize in defense, it says its a general call and wajib on all Muslims.

You ask: " If in Christianity you were commanded to to spread your faith by violence would you continue to follow it or would you leave it?"

I would leave it since that would indicate a logical contradiction. Christ clearly commanded to

You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor[a] and hate your enemy.’ 44 But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you. Matthew ch 5

If Christ said to attack your enemies because they do not accept me make them do so or pay you tribute. I would have some serious questions.

" The reason I ask this is because I was wondering if you were against offensive violence because you as a human being know it is wrong, or is it because you religion admonishes it."

My relationship with Jesus Christ confirms what I know intrinsically about attacking people for no other reason then they disagree with me.

How much of a curse is 'Allah u Ackbar? I wonder how many people have died by the hands of Muslim terrorists and the last words they hear are those? Satan must love such a Curse!

I am a Christian.
I am a doctrinaire Christian.
That means that I don't dumb down the faith to just the words and deeds of Jesus Christ-- I believe in the writings of the Church Fathers up through the Doctor of Angels.
That means that I have a rational Christianity, not an irrational Christianity.

Any "god" that commands you to kill the infidel is a demon.
Any man who commands you to kill the infidel is the servant of a demon.
Any book or law that commands you to kill the infidel is the work of a false prophet.
Not before Christ, but after Christ, the perfect, living sacrifice, God on earth. All our belief begins then, we interpret everything in the scripture according to Christ's redemption and sacrifice and our adoption into the family of God.
I have a savior.
You have a prophet.
I have salvation.
You have servitude.
Everything I encounter will be seen in this light.

Sorry Dears , The Question is is not that People are killed in The name of Islam but Who kill them ? And Why?
I am a Muslim . I Love Jesus(P.B.U.H) also as he was a Prophet from Allah Almighty. No one sees killing of innocent Muslims by Buddhists in Burma. Why You people are not spreading Truth instead. Be honest and learn the truth about Islam and then talk about it . I always find all west that they know nothing about Islam those who say such things about it. You are misguided about Islam.

"The Question is is not that People are killed in The name of Islam but Who kill them ? And Why?"

Yes, that is exactly the question this blog asks. It seems they like to quote the Korran before killing, but it couldn't have anything to do with Islam!

"No one sees killing of innocent Muslims by Buddhists in Burma."
This site isn't answering Buddhism. And I think there have been FAR more terorst attacks by muslism than buddhists. Feel free to prove me wrong. I count over 18,000 attacks with 103,407 dead since 9/11. How many dead from Buddhists since 9/11?

"Why You people are not spreading Truth instead." Show how this site is being dishonest.

"Be honest and learn the truth about Islam and then talk about it. I always find all west that they know nothing about Islam those who say such things about it. You are misguided about Islam."
An old cliche. Mr. Woods is a scholar of the Koran and quotes extensively from the Korran and Haddiths.

Are you not embarrassed that your so called 'peaceful religion' is at 'war' with all the major religions of the world?

In Thailand you are at war with the Buddhist, In India you are war with the Hindus, In Philippines you are at war with the Christians And now Burma a newly minted 'democracy', the muslims there who are not native to the land, & there are issues!

And the middles east.... massive massive violence constantly, and they constantly proclaim your god is great when they kill!!!

You have no questions or it does not bother you that most religious based violence is conducted by muslims?

Oh, evil west propaganda!

i came across this page by doing a project on 9/11. im a teenager who is muslim and reading all these harsh comments about my religion really hurt me! If you dont know true facts about a religion PLEASE dont give false information. Islam IS a peaceful relgion and every week when i go to my quran classes i am taught to respect all relgions because those beliefs are important to them. so why cant you respect islam and respect out beleifs. yes there are people who have died for jihad who have dies for their religion. BUT im sure there has been peopl who have died for their relgion as well. also what about that priest who wanted to burn the quran! what his he teaching? and Allah Hu akbar is not a curse it means god is great! i thought that we all believed in the same god even though we haddifferent names for him! if you were a true believer of a religion you wouldnt be here bashing people for what they believe in! what are you teaching people of my generation to hate other people of their religon?? its really saddens ,me that we live in a world like this!! KHAN

David Wood said...

Hi Maariya,

It's great that your class teaches you to be tolerant, but the Qur'an certainly doesn't. The Qur'an commands you to fight non-Muslims simply for being non-Muslims:

Qur’an 9:29—Fight those who believe not in Allah nor the Last Day, nor hold that forbidden which hath been forbidden by Allah and His Messenger, nor acknowledge the Religion of Truth, from among the People of the Book, until they pay the Jizyah with willing submission, and feel themselves subdued.

The Qur'an also tells you not to be friends with Jews and Christians:

Qur’an 5:51—O you who believe! do not take the Jews and the Christians for friends; they are friends of each other; and whoever amongst you takes them for a friend, then surely he is one of them; surely Allah does not guide the unjust people.

The Qur'an even calls Christians and Jews the "worst of creatures":

Qur’an 98:6—Verily, those who disbelieve (in the religion of Islam, the Qur'an and Prophet Muhammad) from among the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians) and Al-Mushrikun will abide in the Fire of Hell. They are the worst of creatures.
