Islam is not against forced marriages, Kangaroo. Even Muslims during the time of Muhammad knew that he forced the marriage and sexual relations of Safiyah.
It will do you no good for you to even attempt to defend what Muhammad did to that poor 17 year old child-bride! It will only make you appear to be a severely sick and depraved sinner, for you to say that what Muhammad did to Safiyah was morally upright.
I hope this is not true, but I have a feeling this girl is already dead, killed by her family. The only eventually reported her missing, was to cover their tracks.
Yep... oprresive culture based on islam dear mr. kangaroo... more: since culture is islamic woldvision is inseperabely islam (there's no such thing as an independent "culture" in an islamic context: either thai're islamic or they do not existe), I'm very glade to see you admiit thate islam is garbage indeed...
mr. kangaroo: bring your evidence for: "islam is against forced marriages"... ah... sure... poor baby Aisha was hable to choose her marriage withe the moral example that was muhammad... sure...
I have the evidence that I am a woman and I am biologically limited from getting all "hot-and-bothered" for a man who has just murdered my husband and my father.
Marriage demands conjugal duties, and Safiyah would have in no way shape or form wanted to do that. I am an affectionate woman; but even I wouldn't have been capable of it!
And Mohammad seemed to be, not as good as my husband in getting his wives to bed, or he wouldn't have needed God to take his side and threaten all the wives. My husband never had to sic' God on me to make me agreeable.
One thing that gets women to bed is humor. If a husband can get a woman to giggle, that works fast! But Safiyah would not have been in any mood to laugh after what she had been through.
Even the Muslim records said that she was silent from the shock of her father and husband's death. Sorry, shock is not a aphrodisiac. At least not among women who are given the rights to consentual sex. Even taking a woman while she is inebriated is legally rape.
Taking her while she is in a state of shock is worse!
The Muslim records also state that even the other wives of Mohammad knew that she was lying, to save her life.
Even other Muslim men knew that this was just sick! That was why one Muslim warrior guarded Mohammad's tent all night, because he knew Safiyah wouldn't have wanted him
They spent the night there. Abu Ayyub al-Ansari guarded the tent of the Prophet the whole night. When, in the early dawn, the Prophet saw Abu Ayyub strolling up and down, he asked him what he meant by this sentry-go; he replied: “I was afraid for you with this young lady. You had killed her father, her husband and many of her relatives, and till recently she was an unbeliever. I was really afraid for you on her account”.
Islam is against forced marriages. Let us look at what Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him said regarding this issue:
Abu Huraira (Allah be pleased with him) reported Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) as having said: "A woman without a husband (or divorced or a widow) must not be married until she is consulted, and a virgin must not be married until her permission is sought. They asked the Prophet of Allah (may peace be upon him): How her (virgin's) consent can be solicited? He (the Holy Prophet) said: That she keeps silence. (Translation of Sahih Muslim, The Book of Marriage (Kitab Al-Nikah), Book 008, Number 3303)"
Allah Almighty said in the Noble Quran: "O ye who believe! Ye are forbidden to inherit women against their will. Nor should ye treat them with harshness, that ye may take away part of the dower [money given by the husband to the wife for the marriage contract] ye have given them, except where they have been guilty of open lewdness; on the contrary live with them on a footing of kindness and equity. If ye take a dislike to them it may be that ye dislike a thing, and God brings about through it a great deal of good. (The Noble Quran, 4:19)"
The following Saying is an explanation to Noble Verse 4:19:
Narrated Abdullah ibn Abbas: "About the Qur'anic verse: 'It is not lawful for you forcibly to inherit the woman (of your deceased kinsmen), nor (that) ye should put constraint upon them.' When a man died, his relatives had more right to his wife then her own guardian. If any one of them wanted to marry her, he did so; or they married her (to some other person), and if they did not want to marry her, they did so. So this verse was revealed about the matter. (Translation of Sunan Abu-Dawud, Marriage (Kitab Al-Nikah), Book 11, Number 2084)" So according to Noble Verse 4:19, a woman can not be forced into marriage by any mean.
Narrated AbuHurayrah: "The Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) said: An orphan virgin girl should be consulted about herself; if she says nothing that indicates her permission, but if she refuses, the authority of the guardian cannot be exercised against her will. (Translation of Sunan Abu-Dawud, Marriage (Kitab Al-Nikah), Book 11, Number 2088)"
Narrated Abdullah ibn Umar: "The Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) said: Consult women about (the marriage of) their daughters. (Translation of Sunan Abu-Dawud, Marriage (Kitab Al-Nikah), Book 11, Number 2090)"
Narrated Abdullah ibn Abbas: "A virgin came to the Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) and mentioned that her father had married her against her will, so the Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) allowed her to exercise her choice. (Translation of Sunan Abu-Dawud, Marriage (Kitab Al-Nikah), Book 11, Number 2091)"
Narrated Abdullah ibn Abbas: "The Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) said: A guardian has no concern with a woman previously married and has no husband, and an orphan girl (i.e. virgin) must be consulted, her silence being her acceptance. (Translation of Sunan Abu-Dawud, Marriage (Kitab Al-Nikah), Book 11, Number 2095)"
The above Noble Verse 4:19 and the Sayings of our beloved Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him clearly explain that according to Islam, whether the woman is virgin or not, her permission is a MUST. Her father or older brother can not force her into marriage as the Pagan Arabs and the Jews and Christians before Islam in the Middle East used to do; see Deuteronomy 25:5 in the Bible to see how women are forced into marriage.
Can the woman divorce herself from a forced marriage upon her?
As we've seen above, it is clearly forbidden in Islam to force women into marriage. But in case this ever should happen or have happened already to any woman, then Islam allows for her to divorce herself from the man she was forced to marry. Let us read the following:
Narrated Abdullah ibn Abbas: "A virgin came to the Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) and mentioned that her father had married her against her will, so the Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) allowed her to exercise her choice. (Translation of Sunan Abu-Dawud, Marriage (Kitab Al-Nikah), Book 11, Number 2091)"
The choice that our beloved Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him gave to the woman is she can either remain married to the man, or divorce herself from him.
It even has a DUMPSTER section where the "MYTHS" spread by missionaries are answered and DUMPED in the DUMPSTER.
Imagine a religious text saying somewhere that the heavens (stars, planets etc) and the earth were ONE UNITED PIECE, then they were split and water was used to create every living being.
Hmm..I wonder what kind of person denies that.
Or if a religious text tells us about a city that people have never heard of before..
Or the growth of the human embryo without using any magnification.
Perhaps the fact that Pharoah's body washed up ashore as told by the Quran centuries ago that he'd be a sign for the world.
Maybe this religious text has been perfectly preserved as prophecised as well?
Even the enemies of this religious text agree that they couldn't produce anything like it..That it's style was neither poetry, nor prose, and that it was something great.
This religious text is actually gainnig more followers year by year, and WILL outnumber Christians worldwide.
Perhaps the fullfilled prophecies of countries beign conquered such as Constantinople, Iraq, Syria, the defeat of the Persians by the Romans at battle.
This religious text also tells us the place of the LOWEST land ON THE ENTIRE EARTH, when it was impossible for any man at that time to determine this.
Is it possible that this text is forged? Especialyl when we have the same copy from day 1?
Or do we trust a bunch of books written by unkown people at unknown times who weren't even prophets of God, but chose to write about him with their own desires.
We can believe in whatever we want to, but why not believe in the truth?
If you asked a girl to marry you and she keeps silence, thus she has accepted your proposal. yeah, no forced marriage here.."
Your wrong Zack, there is no asking(actually it is negotiating a good price for the girl), it is asking the father, and if the father tells the girl and she says nothing then it is consent. Also in Islam it is a blessing for a girl to have her first period in her husbands house.
Muslims say that marriage is a business relationship, under Islamic law the amount of food and clothing and hygiene and medical care is negotiated. All this is done on a daily basis, and is contingent on the wife performing sexual duties. If she doesn't put out she gets no food.
This is why the spell that the Jews who are all knowing and all wise put on Mohamed was so bad, this is why his wifes complained. Because he was not visiting them so they were not getting there daily rations.

Ancient traditions indeed are garbage.
Islam is against forced marriages, so, how does this woman having to marry this guy have anything to do with Islam? Sounds like oppressive CULTURE.

What evidence do you have that Muhammad forced the marriage with Safiyah donna?

Donna,
I beg to differ.
Nothing gets my engine running like a good ol' massacre of my nearest and dearest.
(joking!)
I would actually be a bit turned off if I knew that a guy had killed my male family members. Shallow, I know, but the heart wants what it wants!
How anyone can think that Safiyyah's marriage was consensual, I'm not sure, but here is a fairly decent rebuttal to that claim:
