Sharia Alert: Non-Muslim British Students Given Detention for Refusing to Pray to Allah

For the first time in my life, I'm literally speechless.

Two schoolboys were allegedly disciplined after refusing to kneel down and "pray to Allah" during a religious education lesson.

It was claimed that the boys, from a year seven class of 11 and 12-year-olds, were given detention after refusing to take part in a practical demonstration of how Allah is worshipped.

Yesterday parents accused the school of breaching their human rights by forcing them to take part in the exercise.

One, Sharon Luinen, said: "This isn't right, it's taking things too far. I understand that they have to learn about other religions. I can live with that, but it is taking it a step too far to be punished because they wouldn't join in Muslim prayer.

"Making them pray to Allah, who isn't who they worship, is wrong and what got me is that they were told they were being disrespectful."

Another parent, Karen Williams, 38, whose 12-year-old daughter is a classmate of the boys, said: "I am absolutely furious my daughter was made to take part in it and I don't find it acceptable.

"The teacher had gone into the class and made them watch a short film and then said 'we are now going out to pray to Allah'.

"Then two boys got detention and all the other children missed their refreshments' break."

She added: "Not only was it forced upon them, my daughter was told off for not doing it right.

"They'd never done it before and they were supposed to do it in another language."

She said the pupils were asked if they had water on them, and when one girl produced a bottle, the teacher began washing her feet with it.

Her husband Keith, 44, a painter and decorator, said: "The school is wonderful but this one teacher has made a major mistake. It seems to be happening throughout society. People think they can ride roughshod over our beliefs and the way we live."

The alleged incident, at the Alsager school, one of Cheshire's top performing schools, happened on Tuesday afternoon. The teacher, Alison Phillips, the school's subject leader in RE, is understood to be staying away from the school until the furore dies down, although she has not been suspended.

She is said to have got prayer mats out of the cupboard and also asked children to wear Islamic headdresses. (Read more.)

I'm all for learning about other religions (I took 2 different World Religions classes in high school), but no way should those classes force students to actually practice the religions they're making the effort to try to learn about. I'm guessing this was some overly zealous, multicultural/tolerance type who went too far?

This is a demonstration of reverse racism, bigotry, and infadelaphobia. This woman should be charged as such for not showing tollerance towards those of other faiths, as I for one will never bow down to allah the devil.

When is this nonsense going to end? The ones who are forcing children to engage in this idolatry are going to rot in Hell.

Even if the Bristish were to wake up I is too late they are under the judgemetn of God. Maybe in the providence and mercy of God He will send missionaries from Africa to preach the the Gospel to the dark continent of Europe.

I see the Muslims are silent here. Makes a person wonder what would happen if the kids were made to pray to the REAL GOD JESUS. It is about time we speak out if my kid learns about Islam from anyone but me I will sue the school and any Muslim org. involved. This is a clear case of the religion of Liberalism and Islam working together to force their beliefs on everyone else. Allah is an idol and doesn't deserve worship, Muhammad spread Islamic cult by the sword. Why should anyone respect such a vile cult which comes in second only to satanism.

WOW.....

Again WOW....
WOW oh I said that already.

The quote at the end sums this whole thing up for me.

""We accept that such teaching has to be conducted with commonsense and sensitivity."

Commonsense indeed.

To learn about another religion is not to pray in its language.

What surprises me the most is that it was done by TEACHERS.In a public school there should be no such thing.I saw the link by Hugh and it was shocking how many Palestinians hate the Jews so much they are willing to deceive non-Muslims,to make the Israelis look bad.

If you think what happened in the school is strange then the possible existence of the ARK of the COVENANT(box where the 10 commanments are, given by Moses)in ETHIOPIA is even stranger.

There is a town which has a house where they say the Ark is located. But nobody except one man can see it.From his description it seems to be it.

But there is a story that around 700 BC the Jewish priests made a COPY and took it out as a trick but hid the REAL one under the Temple. The only way to know if the wood of the box in Ethiopia is from 700 BC or 1300 BC is by testing. But it isn't allowed.

It's like educating children about sex and then forcing them to engage in the act.

The scary thing is, I actually wouldn't be surprised at all if that scenario plays itself out in reality one day very soon, as well, imposed by teachers onto students under the banner of a "legitimate educational experience."

My heart is heavy!!! We decided not to put our children into the public school system because of the indoctrination of homosexuality. It would not surprise me if this is going on in American schools as well!!! I guess they needed to first take the real God out of schools first, wait a couple of generations and then introduce an idol. Since most don't even know who God Almighty is, I bet Allah will squeeze in without any problems at all. Sad sad sad!!!!!!

Peace be unto you.

If this is true, it is absolutely underhanded and disrespectful.

Is the teacher, Alison Phillips, a Muslim?

If not, what religion does she belong to?

May Allaah guide us all. Ameen.

Do you have to jump in front of a bus to learn that you have to look both ways before you cross a street? No... So why do the children have to be forced to *practice* the religion in order to learn it?

Hello Yusuf Alamo:

You are a kind Muslim,I am glad you read this blog. But the best part are the debates in the blog, the ones between David,Nabeel, etc and Farhan,Osama, etc. You should analyze the points and write down information and reconsider if Islam has the best evidence.Peace to you and good luck.

L2L,

This happened two years ago and it made the papers, so I think it was most likely a one-off. I'm British and to be honest it doesn't surprise me at all that someone in a UK school would take religious Education to the extreme like that, but I do really think it was dealt with and isn't happening routinely.

Yusuf,

It's good to hear a Muslim say that this was wrong :-)

Where are you from?

My guess is that Allison Philips, like most British people, has no religion. Most Brits think that all religions are basically the same and that it's more important to teach everyone to be tolerant towards each other than to talk about differences between faiths. Sometimes people take this idea too far and disrespect personal convictions as a result.

@minoria:

Thank you for the compliment.

All praise is due to Allaah for my parents and for all of the wonderful mentors that Allaah has blessed me with from all walks of life regardless of their beliefs. I am grateful to Allaah for all of them and I pray that, Allaah willing, I make them proud.

As far as Farhan and Osama, they are my brothers in Islaam. May Allaah bless them and guide them, Ameen. I don't know them personally and (Allaah knows best) I don't know if they are scholars or even what kind of manhaaj they are on.

For good reason, I don't tend to focus attention on too many scholars outside of the ones whose books I read such as Shaykh Bin Uthaymeen, Shaykh Abd Al-Aziz Bin Baz, Shaykh Nasser-ud-Deen Al-Albani, Shaykh Salih Al-Fawzaan, and Shaykh Rabee Bin Haadee Al-Madkalee (just to name a few).

Salaam

@Sophie:
To answer your question: I am from NY.

In your last post you stated:

Praise be to Allaah.

Allaah willing (and with respect to the british people), I'm personally not going to utilize conjecture or broad generalizations of an entire people.

Allaah willing, especially if I'm trying to determine if Allison Phillips belonged to a particular faith or whether she had one at all.

Allaah willing, I would prefer to understand what personally motivated her to commit such unethical conduct without making the rest of her countrymen guilty by association.
