Jesus or Muhammad Today (Saturday) at 2:30 P.M. (Eastern Standard Time)

We'll be having an episode of "Jesus or Muhammad" at 2:30 today. We'll be discussing some of the claims of Yusuf Estes (and, if we have time, we might start getting into some interesting things I've learned about the Muslim Debate Initiative). Be sure to tune in via satellite or online here.

The problem is not that we got used with it. The human nature and human experience was like that since the falling into sin.

The real drama is that the west keep telling itself: it must be disturbed people and not Islam. And that's just not true. This is Islam to radical Islam.

God have mercy on us.

Paul.

I heard someone call in to the show about one Samuel 16.2 and mention they have to "deny" that God lied to Saul when questioned by Muslims. Why does one have to think in that sort of defensive way? Why are you left denying anything at all about what you believe? There is nothing to deny about God. (God did not lie btw)

Hi, Minoria.

My heart goes to Muslims who found Christ but feel irrevocably bound to their Muslim roots. To leave (literally or figuratively) their family and community, to strip themselves of the identity they owned all their lives is heart-rending for them.

But what also strikes me in such cases is that Islam is very worldly. Jesus did say "And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or fields for my sake will receive a hundred times as much and will inherit eternal life." ~Matthew 19:29 NIV. But with Islam being a religion AND a way of life, its grip on its followers to the ways of the world is tight indeed.

The Dar al-harb/Dar al-Islam Concept and Jesus' Temptation (Luke 4:5-8 NIV)

I was thinking on this yesterday as well. Jesus refused "the authority and splendor" of "all kingdoms of the world" but Islam apparently accepted the offer.

---

Although Jesus promised worldly suffering to His followers, He also promised hope, both in this life and beyond: "...I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life." ~John 8:12 NIV

What spiritual promises does the Qur'an provide to Muslims for following Muhammad? (This is not a rhetorical question. I honestly don't know but would like to know.)

Hello Verumi,

There are a whole bunch of verses about Paradise and promises spread all over the Quran. I would suggest reading Sura 55 (al Rahman) and 56 (al Waqiah, they are both pretty short) for an idea of what salvation is in Islam, in my opinion it's all about women and wine. Also you can read up on what a HOURI is as they are an integral part of Islamic Salvation and Paradise. The end of al Rahman should touch up on it if I remember correctly. I leave you with this interesting Hadith to ponder over:

Sahih Bukhari Volume 1, Book 6, Number 301:

Narrated Abu Said Al-Khudri:

Once Allah's Apostle went out to the Musalla (to offer the prayer) o 'Id-al-Adha or Al-Fitr prayer. Then he passed by the women and said, "O women! Give alms, as I have seen that the majority of the dwellers of Hell-fire were you (women)." They asked, "Why is it so, O Allah's Apostle ?" He replied, "You curse frequently and are ungrateful to your husbands. I have not seen anyone more deficient in intelligence and religion than you. A cautious sensible man could be led astray by some of you." The women asked, "O Allah's Apostle! What is deficient in our intelligence and religion?" He said, "Is not the evidence of two women equal to the witness of one man?" They replied in the affirmative. He said, "This is the deficiency in her intelligence. Isn't it true that a woman can neither pray nor fast during her menses?" The women replied in the affirmative. He said, "This is the deficiency in her religion."

And this one –

Al Tirmidhi Hadith 112

Narrated Mu'adh ibn Jabal:

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: Whenever a woman causes annoyance and torture to her husband in this world, his mate from among the houris of Paradise says to her:

May Allah ruin thee, do not cause thy husband annoyance, for he is only thy guest, and will soon leave thee to join us in Paradise.

Transmitted by Tirmidhi.

Hello Verumi:
Father Botros says that a convert can keep it secret unless he is asked directly if he is a Christian.I think it is the reasonable procedure.

Hello Odo:
I have noticed you know ALOT of hadiths. You can also write articles(about what the hadiths say)for avraidire.eu.
To get in you just have to say you are interested in writing articles in any comment section for any article in the website to ANTOINE MARTIN.He would contact you via email and give you your wordpress password to post your article in it.
You can say I recommended you.Hugh and I have written like 30-40 articles in all.

ADVANTAGE
Since some 250 read avraidire.eu everyday your hadith knowledge will become available to them.

I often give links to the Jesus or Muhammad show at the end of the article, and David and Nabeel's debates(plus say there is answeringmuslims.com).Publicity for a noble cause.

Hi miniora,

I appreciate you asking me but I must be honest and confess I do not feel comfortable enough in my knowledge of Islam to produce any official articles just yet. Hopefully soon enough, thanks.

Hello, Odo.

Thank you again for the references. I continue to get the sense that the Qur'an (and, therefore, Islam) is very worldly. The description of Paradise is very much like a man's fantasy of endless indulgence in lust and gluttony.

I just finished watching the Tawhid vs. Trinity Debate posted here. In it, the imam enumerates three things that lead to salvation in Islam:
1.) Belief in the one true God
2.) Doing the will of God
3.) Accepting Muhammad as a prophet

But Tony Costa points out later that even if a Muslim keeps all three all his life, Allah can still condemn him. "There is NO ASSURANCE OF SALVATION in Islam."

That's terrifying.
