Adam
Look into PROXY Server for answeringmuslims.com

I dont know if that will work for a live video stream.

David,

I notice that they still have not posted the videos from your previous ABN. Do you know why it is taking them so long to put these up? When will your visits to this program be available for viewing? This is something that has been a great blessing to watch but it is frustrating to have the long delay before they are posted.

Thank you for your hard work. God bless you, brother.

With the name of God, Peace be unto you. This is to Adam. Google is your friend. You should research how to have web sites unblocked.

Also you can start your own forum or web site and require that members have passwords as such. You could even use further measures by making sure that these people are known in the community. You should have several sites up in different places in Pakistan and or India for that matter.

There is a book called "Islam between East and West" By Alija Izetbegovic former president of Bosnia Herzegovina that was banned in France.

So censorship is sometimes a virtue (for example in Saudia Arabia blocking of sexually explicit web sites)

But blocking sites such as answeringislam and answeringmuslims or the work of Robert Morey, Anis Shorrosh and others is probably not helpful.

Adam I will put together a document for you on how to using proxy servers. Give me a week or so.

(I don't know where to send this request. I'm sorry to be completely out of topic. This is not really meant as a comment but a private message.)

Dear David, Nabeel, and other authors of the blog:

I'm currently watching this ABC report about Scott Lively and homophobia in Uganda: http://abcnews.go.com/WN/anti-homosexuality-bill-uganda-global-uproar/story?id=10045436

It concerns me that Lively and those he works with claim to represent Christianity. Worse, his homophobic campaign has led to the proposition of a bill that essentially defines homosexuality as a crime and qualifies it eligible for death penalty.

I understand that this blog's focus is mainly on Christianity-Islam debates. I hope, however, that you would respond to it, if not here, then in your respective blogs. I'm afraid that anti-Christians and Muslims will take this seriously as representative of Christ's teachings.

Also, I feel this is a type of terrorism (directed at homosexuals) that deserves to be condemned. We often ask/challenge Muslims to publicly condemn terrorism. We should condemn this one.

I'm not well-versed enough with the Bible to adequately respond to it myself, so I appeal to your wisdom.

Thank you,
Zen

Speaking of advancing the technology for this blog, I think it deserves some reorganization so that older discussions (archives) are more visible and accessible for (new and current) readers. Better yet, why not export it to a self-hosted Wordpress. I can help provide some help with either. Just a thought. :)

David Please PLEASE post that bit you did on the Sharia political platform. That was just to funny

I really like the programs and watch many of them once they are posted (I don't have a TV).

But I would say that you have so many good things to say that there is a feeling that you are ganging up on Muslim callers and drowning them out with hundreds of words and dozens of points.

Most of those points are very good. And if you are trying to point the show mostly at Christians, I would say you are doing fine.

But if you are concerned with the Muslim callers, I'd watch a tape or two of your own performances on a call from the Muslims and see if there is any reason for them to feel "pounced on" and shaken like rats.

And I'd especially ask you to see if you guys really want to be saying that callers are "lying" when they may in fact be rationalizing or just honestly confused.

Read what Hogan said about his experiences in Birmingham in the last post...surrounded by lots of Muslims who made him feel they didn't want answers. Some of them MAY have wanted answers, but when you are peppered with facts from many different people in a gush of information, it can feel that way.

I was only able to see the last show but it was great,Manu and Kadija called. One thing that caught my attention was that it's true, most Muslims say:

SO MOHAMMED HAD SEX WITH A 9-YEAR OLD GIRL AND SO WHAT?

It comes as a shock but when you consider that POL POT,the Communist ruler of Cambodia, ordered all the 2 million people of Phnom Penh, the capital,to get out in ONE DAY,and did it almost(it took several)and then PLUNGED the country to year ZERO,it shouldn't come as a surprise.Result:20% of Cambodians died from 1975-79,about 1.5 million.

Guys!

MARY JO SHARP has signed a contract for a book.Great news!I don't know what it will be about, maybe about Islam, who knows. But I am happy for her and would buy the book.Soon to come also:SON OF HAMAS,by MOSAB YOUSEF,the son of one of the founders of HAMAS,who converted to Christianity and helped prevent the deaths of many Israeli civilians.

ABOUT CREATION AND EVOLUTION

I saw the latest BARKER-D'SOUZA debate in youtube and Dinesh, who accepts it,explained how he sees the Adam and Eve account.I am inclined to see it as more than a metaphor but D'SOUZA's position is interesting.

METAPHOR

He said ADAM in the Bible means man in general. It's true,GENESIS states MAN=male and female 2X.So he says there is alot of ambiguity in the Genesis story to allow for a metaphor view.He said that ADAM is the "first Biblical man".I think he means the first human in the line of evolution from apes who knew RIGHT from WRONG.

Also that the bible says CAIN,who was the son of Adam, left and went to get a wife somewhere else.It wouldn't have been with his mother. So there are gaps and you can infer other rational people were living at the same time and that supports that the story is a metaphor about rebellion in general against God.

Hello Verumi:

I also condemn harassing and persecuting homosexuals. It certainly goes against the GOLDEN RULE given by Jesus to his followers.Personally I have never seen any Christian organization that does it.But if I come upon one I would certainly write to them to tell them it's unchristian.Unfortunately there are people like Lively who utterly miss that part of Jesus(I don't know how,it's right there).

As for Jeff's comment.I don't recall the word liar being used.I think,if it was used,it was in a general sense like "Muslims lie".

TAKIYA

But it's true in a general sense because lying is allowed in the Koran( 16:106):Read the 3 translations:

YUSUFALI:" Any one who, after accepting faith in Allah, utters Unbelief,- EXCEPT UNDER COMPULSION, his heart remaining firm in Faith - but such as open their breast to Unbelief, on them is Wrath from Allah, and theirs will be a dreadful Penalty."

PICKTHAL: "Whoso disbelieveth in Allah after his belief - save him WHO IS FORCED thereto and whose heart is still content with the Faith - but whoso findeth ease in disbelief: On them is wrath from Allah. Theirs will be an awful doom. "

SHAKIR: "He who disbelieves in Allah after his having believed, not HE WHO IS COMPELLED while his heart is at rest on account of faith, but he who opens (his) breast to disbelief-- on these is the wrath of Allah, and they shall have a grievous chastisement. "

WHAT IS COMPULSION?

Notice it's GENERAL and in regard to ISLAM.It doesn't say "compulsion is if your LIFE is in DANGER",so that leaves the possibility that compulsion is any situation in which a Muslim feels he has to save face regarding ISLAM(not your exams, marriage, financial situation, etc)he can lie.

That is the logical sense of the text.Again,it doesn't say:"you can lie if your LIFE is in danger".

Another Ride on the Muslim Merry Go Round.

Last night I had the following conversation with a few Muslims on the fact that Jesus directly forgave sins expressing a attribute of Divinity.

Me (and other christians): Jesus said to the parapaligic man "Pick up your mat your sins are forgiven" clearly demonstrating his divine authority to forgive sins.

Muslim: "Show me where Jesus said "I have forgiven your sins", Jesus was a messenger so it's possible, and probabale that what Jesus was saying is that he heard from the Father that this mans sins were forgiven and he was just relaying this message".

Me: "You ask me to show you where Jesus used the definite article "I" when saying "Your sins are forgiven" as in I HAVE FORGIVEN YOUR SINS, and then you state words of conjecture and speculation that it is POSSIBLE and PROBABLE that Jesus as a messenger was just relaying the message From the Father that this mans sins were forgiven. Words that are not in the text."

Do you see the inconsistency in this argument?

First the Muslim wants to hold Christians to a hyper literal position by asking "Where did Jesus say "I have forgiven your sins" but then has no problem with abandoning that position to speculate that "It is possible and probable that what Jesus really meant was he heard from the father that this man's sins were forgiven" Which is definitely not in the text.

We went round and round on what I call the "Muslim Merry Go Round"

Book recommendation. Nakdemon recommended this book so I thought i would pass it on to everyone.

Reinventing Jesus By Dan Wallace and two others.

The best $10 dollar book I ever spent $70 dollars on.

minoria said...

Hello FatMan:

If I am not mistaken the book by DAN WALLACE you recommend is by THE Dan Wallace who is one of the world's best experts on ancient Greek. So it's reliable. Thanks for the tip.

I just saw a video on youtube where a Greek-speaking Muslim(a Greek convert) challenged Dr James White to debate with him in the "Greek of the New Testament".
It sounded strange to me.Then he made a statement in GREEK.A man who knows Greek translated in the comment section and said it was in MODERN Greek, not the KOINE Greek of the NT.

So the Muslim was not able to speak Koine Greek, otherwise why use Modern Greek if your challenge is to debate in the Greek of the NT,the Greek of 2,000 years ago.Of course Dr White, who is NOT an expert on MODERN Greek, would not have understood him.

Koine Greek is NOT understood by today's Greeks.I know because I have read that the NT has to be TRANSLATED for today's Greeks to read it.

ALSO

I know a Greek Christian who reads the NT in koine Greek and he told me he has to read it 3 or 4 times to understand.

ALSO

The service in the GREEK ORTHODOX church is in OLD Greek(whether koine or not I don't know) and ask ANY Greek if they UNDERSTAND it,they will say not a word.Just like the service in the RUSSIAN ORTHODOX church. They use OLD Russian, and no Russian understands a word.

CONCLUSION

The Muslim was bluffing.Really,if he can do a debate in the Greek of the NT,then why didn't he speak it?Why use the Greek of 2,000 years later which PAUL,ARISTOTLE,PLATO,HOMER would NOT have understood?

i find it sad that the authors of that site are probably 3 times my age yet still can't fathom the message of the Holy Bible.

i guess they can relate to the Quran because they are both hatefull, fascist, and easy to read,

Going back to the topic of reorganizing the blog, I created a demo of what I have in mind when I suggested it: http://verumipetrix.blogspot.com

I have to say, I like Verumi's suggested changes. I'm not too sure about the white background. It seems a little sparse for my taste, but I really like the layout and reorganization a lot!

Verumi,

Any chance you would be willing to send me the html code for the template you used?

Thanks,
Sepher

nazareneway@gmail.com

David Wood said...

Verumi,

(1) Is that a Wordpress account or a Blogger account?

(2) Will content be lost if we change the site?

Verumi said...

I'm glad you like it, Sepher. :) I emailed you the template.

David, I took the liberty to copy my email to Sepher to your Acts17 email address.

The demo is on Blogger.

As far as moving to WordPress, the content can be imported from Blogger into WordPress. I've never done that yet, so I don't know how much of the content ( especially videos and photos) will be imported. I do know the ins and outs of WP. I'll do some tests and let you know.
