Exposing Barakah: A rhetoric interrogation by Barakah on Pal-talk’s: ‘Muslim Women are Respected and Not Oppressed’.

On 5 March I was contacted by a Christian debater from Pal Talk and after a little chat I decided to journey through a number of rooms on the Social issues.

One particular room of interest was the Islamic room: ‘Muslim Women are Respected and not Oppressed’, which was administrated by an Arabic female Muslim with a French accent, by the name ‘Barakah’ whom I (after 30 minutes experience on the chat room) deem to be a psycho.

As far as I know the name 'Barakah' means blessing, however, the experience was closer to a curse.

I entered the room ‘Muslim Women are Respected not Oppressed’ stayed for a little while whereupon I left a link to a Christian site before entering another room. Leaving a link seemed reasonable to me since it did not seem to be prohibited. After a minute, Barakah virtually hunts me down on pal-talk, sending me at least 15 notifications and a private message.

In the private message Barakah through rather intimidated wordings challenged me to be brave enough to dare enter the room again where she threatened to publically expose me and my religion. It was quite obvious from her wordings that I would be considered a coward unless I acted upon her command.

It was also perfectly obvious to me that entering the ‘Muslim Women are Respected and Not Oppressed’ room, meant entering a room full of Muslims, with debate based upon violent insult, intimidation and Muslim rhetoric including an admin that would continually victimize me by red doting by blocking my text and muting my voice.

After a few minutes I nevertheless decided to take the risk and give the Muslim female debater a chance.

I quickly realised that my expectation of the room were far from exaggerated. Barakah made it very clear that she did not care about me or my religion, or my answers or explanation; in fact she claimed openly that as a Christian I simply had no answers and nothing worth saying, so I could simply spare myself the effort.

So now I was getting really confused, she had called me back into the room to defend my faith, yet after meeting her challenge and being brave (according to her mentality) and entering the room I am immediately informed by her and the room that they have already presupposed that as a Christian I should not be listened to.

This was turning out to get really funny.

Well I still decided to give her a chance.

After several minutes of abuse and rhetoric (only God knows what I had to put up with) she finally asked me to come to the mic and show the room ‘where Jesus says he is God’. I had a good answer to her question, but I refused to enter a debate that reminded about an interrogation (I know that Muslims tend to like it this way, my own experience is an excellent example). I am indeed happy to debate or dialogue, yet if Muslims think that I am or consider myself a ‘dhimmi’ like the Christians they suppress in their own Muslim nations (and from whom they mentally drain all confidence and personal pride), they will quickly find themselves very offended.

Rather than letting Barakah interrogate me and decide my wordings. I asked for five minutes to explain this question but I never got that far; after only 15 seconds I was muted. Barakah came back on the mic and insulted me for being unable to answer and scared to deal with the issue whereupon she challenged me to take the mic again and answer her question.

Again I only managed to speak on the mic for 10 seconds, without being allowed to answer the question. I got muted as before by Barakah, who again resorted to insult my personality, religion and had the audacity to claim again and again that I was a coward. She had even blocked my writing to unable my comments to her insults and abuse.

She challenged me a third time to take the mic and answer her question.

By this time it was clear that this was not a debate or a dialogue but a rhetorical conversation in which I was being interrogated and yet not permitted to answer. This was abuse, intimidation, manipulation a joke. She stated time and time again that she had no interest in my answer and explanation, that it was simply a waste of her time.

The third time I elaborated on the word ‘coward’, this time I literally called her a coward, after all she was the one being too scared to engage me in a proper dialogue without continually red dotting me after 10 seconds and muting my answers. I pointed out that I probably was the only Christian in a room of 60 Muslims who continuously abused my character and religion, muted my answers and blocked my writings; this whole scenario was literally ridiculous.

At this point Barakah accused me of insult (yeah try imagine) and continually called me a coward and chicken for not sharing in her rhetoric games (all I had asked for was for me to answer her question in my own way; but Barakah insisted that my answer would be a waste of time).

I was allowed to the mic a fourth time, this time I challenged Barakah for a proper the debate on any subject but under a different admin, an admin would that play fair games; but Barakah (this blessing of Allah does not like fair games) as before I was muted within 15 seconds. In fact I had already challenged Barakah to debate me properly prior to this, even in writing.

This obviously made Barakah go crazy, I guess the Muslim listeners began realizing that she was running away from a challenge, and she muted me as before, called me a coward and heaped upon me insult upon insult.

I even apologized if I had come on against her too strongly or if she had found me insulting her, and again I asked respectfully if she was interested in debating me under a proper debate format and a fair admin (yeah imagine I even humbled myself to that level).

This dialogue (if we can call it a dialogue) went on for 30-40 minutes, I went on the mic probably ten times, asking her to debate me formally, and every time being red dotted after 10-15 seconds whereup I was insulted and intimidated to every possible length and at the same time prohibited from writing.

Finally I had enough and left.

I have to say that the experience reminded me of my early days in Birmingham, being encircled by 10-20 Muslims and being bombarded with questions and arguments without being given the opportunity to answer.

http://christianityresponse.blogspot.com/2010/01/why-i-am-christian-apologist_31.html

In fact most Muslims I have encountered in debate and dialogue are not interested in the Christian answering, either due to the ‘dhimmi’ mentality or because they are scared to listen and particularly scared of the answers or objections raised by the opponents (possibly both).

Barakah seems to have all the questions but to dread the answers and the contra attack against her faith.

I would advise Christians not willingly to submit themselves to chat rooms or individuals who resort to such behaviour or rhetoric methods. Yet my challenge to Barakah remains, I am more than willing to meet her in a proper debate with a pre-planned format under an admin which will act fairly toward both of us.

The impression I had of Barakah is: she knew that in a proper debate against me and without her administrative authority to reddot and mute her opponents, her arguments and her faith would have been ripped into pieces (she knew that); hence the reddot was and is her only protection.

However, I seem not to be the only one having experienced the desperately antagonising behaviour of Barakah; here is another example from Youtube (but it reveals far from the level of antagonizing behaviour I experienced from Barakah):

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lqbRizFjjQk

My only conclusion after 40 minutes on her chat room is: despite her admin authority and the reddot she was hiding behind this female Muslim debater was in reality on the run.

Ahh i see you got the full paltalk experience in barakahs room. Her room isn't any different from the other islamic rooms. I am actually banned frm barakahs room for the exact same reason your were dotted ( i requested equel time on the mic and debate a comparative subject)

But i agree with your conclusion. I call it the osama abdullah syndrome.

Hogan, better you than me. I've met enough of these types who cannot seem to control their emotions. Worse ones, those who have an audience. They seem to thrive on showing off even when they do not follow the practices of Islam. Bakarah, well she may very well have had her audience. I've learnt how to deal with such types. Knowledge, they say, is power. Guess you want be inviting her round for a coffee then!

Mr.Hagbar,

next time, hook her with the classic Good Will Hunting line "It's not your fault...;-)

Hugh, Barakah is welcome for a cup of coffe, then I will let me wife sort her out.

@LouisJ-B,

Is that the part where Matt Damon and Robin Williams start hugging and crying uncontrollably? Ugh! I hate that part!!! :-)

P.S.,

Good job trying to reach out to this angry person, Hogan. Hey, at least you tried.

Oh Hogan you experianced Barakah lol. I went in that room a long time ago she wasn't there.

Anyway there were a bunch of Female Paltalk reverts, and they were listing to Arabic Recitations of the Quran. They were saying how wonderful it was and it was making them cry... Bla bla bla..

Well I asked them if any of them understood Arabic, the answer was NO, but they didn't need to understand Arabic because it was Allahs words and it speaks to their hearts.

Well I could not let this opertunity pass me by.

So I got up on the mic and played the recording of "A Surrah Like it" its a Quranic sounding Arabic recitation.

Well I was "yes this really speaks to my heart" and they were responding "Yes now you get it, wow what Surah is this... Its so beutiful.. I'm crying...."

Well I got to play about 5 min of it. And then a Arabic speaker came in the room and he was outraged, he started cursing them and me....

You see what the man was saying in the recording is "Mohamed is the Satan... Christ is lord... Allah is a false God... etc...

I think I'm amused to easily :)

The Fat Man: you are most wicked, (chuckle). oh well, if they are that easily fooled, they mustnt have a very good handle on this religeon of theirs. and personaly after preaching the good news, if they dont accept it or become abusive, they go on my iggy list, pretty simple, then I go outside and shake the dust off my sandles then move on.

Fat Man,

Do you know where I can hear/obtain this fake recitation?

Nakdimon said...

Hogan, welcome to the victim list of Barakah. I had a similar experience as yours. She challenges people to debate, she hangs on the mic for minutes and when she finally hands you the mic you are allowed for 10 seconds (the longest I have gotten) and are quickly dotted and she goes on rambling how imcompotent you are at answering her questions. I was at the point that I told her, after she held a sermon of almost 15 minutes, that I had muted her since she didnt allow me to speak. So when she finally removed the dot I got 5 seconds and was silenced again and was called a liar and all kinds of nice compliments, telling she would beat me up and my Bible etc. Nice lady.

OMG, Hogan I've had a similar experience with Barakah. Hey, at least you got to talk for 10-15 seconds, I didn't....She told me to get on the mic and stop "being a coward" and answer her question about Jesus. So I got on the mic and right before I could even say anything, I got dotted. Not only that, she had the nerve to call me a liar, yes... even though I was dotted before I could say anything! So I told her that she wasn't being fair, so she threatened to "expose" me and even wanted to beat me up. Anyways, I'm banned from that room. I think she has mental issues.

mkvine said...

Oh one more thing...If you notice, sometimes her room has the most people in the Human Rights Section but I think there's something fishy going on. When you go in her room(if you're not banned that is) you will notice that at least 25 people have their hand up to speak on the mic, but the problem is that no one ever speaks or takes the mic...Therefore, I think most of the people in her room are just bots, not real people. Who wants to be in a room like that anyway...

hugh watt said...

I d'know. Barakahs (as i affectionately call her)has something about her. Hmmm....How does Barakah Watt sound to you.
Hey Fat Man, tell me you didn't make that story up

Hogan Elijah Hagbard said...

mkvine,

I agree, there is something fishy with her room, particularly all those hands being raised.

I am pretty sure also that most of the people on the room are not even real.

I know that some individuals on pal-talk have a number of false individuals on the room to increase the popularity. I know one guy who turns on over ten computers to raise the popularity of his room with then non-existing individuals. Its understandable, it's pretty difficult o start off with one person and gradually move on to the top, but if you can get a start with 10-20 immediately, you keep the room popular.

I am pretty sure that most of the people on 'Muslim women are Respected and not oppressed' do not exist.

DARKEYED9 said...

I can tell you that her name doesn't fit her at all. A blessing? From who? Definitely not from God.

I came across Baraka's room when I was a Muslim actually. I read the title and got so happy. I've been brainwashed my whole life thinking I and the other women in my family are "equal" to men but now, I've had enough. I've decided to take a stand. It wasn't easy admiting to myself that Islam was a disease to be honest but eventually, I accepted that.

Usually, I'd be quiet in the room. When I was a Muslim, I'd just go in rooms and rarely take the mic or speak since my voice, as a female, is "awra" or a private part that can cause sexual attention apparently. Obviously, that's not the case at all anymore. I speak what's on my mind now without cussing but I get bounced/banned from most Muslim rooms because of that.

All I said one day was "why are there so many hands up Barakah? You never release the mic so when do all of these people speak?" and she stop the lecture that was playing and got on the mic and replied with "Darkied, you came into the room without saying 'Asalamo alaikom', how about you work on that first and then we'll talk about that." So I said my salams but she still didn't answer my question. Then finally, she did. "People have their hands up for support." The majority of Barakah's room population is made up of bots.

She is one twisted, disgusting, sick-minded "woman." I wouldn't be surprised if I saw a penis on her. She's a shame to women. She has cussed out (very Islamic of her) my really amazing friend because she openly announced that she's an exMuslim. The things she said... she kept her dotted on voice and text and the things she said... She was laughing on mic and saying that she will burn in hell, that she would LOVE to see her burn in hell, love to see her tortured, preferably by a man, etc. It was gross. She said to prove how Islam is decreasing and my name was brought up because I was considering to leave Islam at that time.

I'm now banned from her room. I personally just said two things.

By the way, I'm not a Christian.

Hello:

I have seen the latest debate by BARKER vs D'SOUZA in youtube. It's from Nov 2009.One thing that has definitely given me a very low opinion of him are his argument's against Jesus' ideas. In that respect he's,well,IMBECILIC.
He shows that in all his life in fact, like 50 years,he can't understand something so simple as that Jesus often spoke in METAPHOR.

LITERALISM

He actually takes LITERALLY when Jesus said:"If your eye or hand causes you to sin then pluck it out/cut it off.I's better to enter heaven with one eye/hand than be in hell with two eyes/hands."

In debate after debate he gives such ideas.Sad,sad,sad.It shows little intellect. He also keeps on saying that HITLER was a Christian.Sad,sad,sad.Will he ever change and see how absurd his reasoning is?No.

PART 1

This blog has many kinds of readers:some are ex-Muslims who are now Christian, and there is Darkeyed, who is an ex-Muslim and not Christian.Great place to be.Others are Muslim, they are welcome too.Thank you Darkeyed for telling us of your experiences.Interesting.

Baraka reminds me a bit of Shabir Ally and Dan Barker.I have given up on him as a serious person.

WHY?

BARKER in the debate with D'SOUZA said most skeptics accept the legend option of the resurrection.I found it strange.

RESURRECTION BELIEF AS LEGEND?

If he meant in the debate that the resurrection belief appeared DECADES after 33 AD(which is what he seemed to imply)then it was utterly bad scholarship. The Jesus Seminar dates that belief to be from Jerusalem and from only 2 years after Jesus' death, and that the first disciples held it.

minoria said...

PART 2

Then he talked of legendary additions as the years passed by till you got to a second century gospel(he meant the GOSPEL OF PETER).His idea is the resurrection accounts go from SIMPLE to COMPLEX.Fair enough. His problem is his EXAMPLES of what a resurrection account is are wrong. He says the 1 COR 15 creed is a RESURRETION narrative only, not a creed(for example, the NICENE creed is a similar example of a creed with resurrection details). He conveniently doesn't include the NICENE creed(4th century) as a resurrection account since it would invalidate his whole argument. All the time he uses that argument. The problem is it is faulty and so wrong. It fails.

DAVID WOOD has written a great analysis of his argument in ANSWERINGINFIDELS.COM.Here is the link:(which has been read by some 13,000 people)

PART 3:

You see the SAME thing with SHABIR ALLY,year after year,I guess decade after decade,he still argues in his debates that Jesus is NOT called God in MARK,MATT and LUKE.Though there are several passages that show he is.In the same way BARKER (who has had alot of years to check if his logic is logical) will keep on repeating his idea till he dies. But it doesn't make it any more logical.

Nakdimon said...

Darkeyed, I feel your pain. This Barakah woman is a pain in the butt. And, yes, all the hands up are not for support, they are hoaxes. Not only dont they talk on the mic, but they dont even text in the room either.

I have a question for you tho. What made you leave Islam? What made you think different about that religion? Care to share with us?

thanks,
Nakdimon

Darkeyed9. Check out Rifqa and Negeen's testimony.

mkvine said...

@FatMan

I really wouldn't be surprised if that lady was from Paltalk. A lot of the Muslim rooms are a little on the radical end anyways...

DARKEYED9 said...

Nakdimon, I'm not a fan of Rifqa. I'm happy that she left Islam but it just seems like she did most of that for attention which she got. I don't know. I could be wrong. It's just how she speaks. It annoys me.

Negeen on the other hand communicates well.

But yes, congrats girl for freeing yourselves.

About myself... maybe I'll make use of my blog/youtube account in the future.

David Wood said...

Darkeyed,

Muslims have done an outstanding job distorting the public perception of Rifqa, and even Christians and other non-Muslims have become convinced that she's seeking attention. I know several people who know Rifqa personally. Here are the facts.

(1) Rifqa was a Christian for several years, and she never told her family, specifically because she didn't want to draw attention to herself or upset her family.

(2) When some Muslims from her mosque found out about her conversion, they told her father about it.

(3) Rifqa's father threatened to kill her if she didn't return to Islam.

(4) Rifqa fled to Florida in an effort to escape death.

(5) As a matter of law, the issue had to come before the authorities.

Now where did Rifqa seek attention? Apart from a single interview where Rifqa pleaded for her life, how has she tried to draw attention to herself?

Hogan, I went to Barakah's room on PalTalk before. I posted a hadith narration & something from As-Suyuti about the transmission of the Quran. She dotted me and went on a tirade! Telling me to come to the mic "if you are brave" but keeping me dotted the whole time. When she noticed her tirade wasn't making me leave she bounced me out of the room. I never bothered to go back there.

I've seen this kind of treatment from Muslims. I've also seen respectful attention and pleasure at debating.

I've also myself in the old days been surrounded by circles of Evangelical or Pentecostal Christians who weren't interested in debating, but rather in preaching what they sincerely believed was the TRUTH, not just a debatable opinion.

I can hack that. If people in their own place don't want to debate on even terms but rather to use me to prove a point, so be it. Truth is strong; it always will triumph in the end. Through Love.

If you run into such treatment, don't let it worry you too much. Shake the dust on your feet...God didn't plan on letting you achieve what you wanted in this place at this time.

Or stay...and make use of whatever little cracks they give you. That's what I do in similar situations. Even if your mouth is taped shut and you are bound hand and foot, you can still give eloquent witness to the Lord Jesus Christ.

Don't be TOO tough on these people. They are miskeen, as the Arabs say. They often have a great deal of goodness and beauty in them and it's sad that they can't share what is in our hearts. It's too sad to be angry at them...even at their most frustrating.

To whom it may concern.
My name is Leah McLellan, aka fyreflye on Paltalk. Many people on there know me. I am the reason Barakah made her room to begin with. I had a blog called THE WOMEN OF ISLAM which I worked on for four years. I had a room by the same title. Barakah opened her room in response to mine. I have had my experiences with her as well.

Anonymous said...

cont'd from McLellan:

My first experience with her was actually humorous. She was in the room Islam Answers Back. I went in there and she was on the microphone and announced my arrival. It was rather comical.

Up until this point I hadn't bothered with her but that day I took a peek at her profile. I must say I was rather shocked to see a woman, scantilly clad. No hijab. Lots of skin and a "booty shot".

So, when she went off on her diatribe about me, I typed in the text: Funny a woman showing her booty off should be criticizing my morals...

BOUNCE!

I was banned from that room, so they thought. I got back in and I guess they didn't notice because nobody rebounced me. Instead, the men were talking to her about her profile, correcting her, etc.

After I opened my blog and then the room, Barakah opened hers. Gone was the booty shot and everything else (thank goodness). And suddenly Barakah became the great apologist.

I suppose her early days are long forgotten. That was many years ago. Since then, Barakah and I have had two other encounters. On both occasions I was "requested" to come to her room. On both occasions she demanded I get on the microphone.

On both occasions I replied: "why bother? You'll just dot me before I get a chance to speak."

And on both occasions she dotted me for NOT taking the microphone.

I am convinced that she has a mental illness. This is not cultural. Her behavior is very aggressive, angry.

I have since removed my blog. Though I believe it did some good, I am to the point where I believe Muslim women LIKE the abuse they suffer. And as anyone knows, if a person loves the abuse, you can't pry them out of it.

Perhaps I will begin a new blog. Right now I am working on a counter-cult 101 website.

And that's my Barakah encounter. Space aliens got nothing on her!

I just had an encounter with Barakah a few days ago. I am a Muslim and I entered her room hoping to meet some more Muslim women. Boy was I wrong. Bakarah was damn insane. I don't speak any arabic and she starts attacking me. I found out she preaches full on wahabism, which is a super extreme form of Islam. Apparently I am a hypocrite and cannot learn to Islam unless it is from a Saudi. She kept dotting me and ranting at me and asking me questions and when she finally gave me the chance to answer she interrupted me within seconds. She needs mental help
