Send Negeen to an Apologetics Conference!

All right. I only ask when it's important. Many of you remember Negeen. She's a convert from Islam to Christianity, she's super sharp, and she's interested in apologetics. We want to fly her to an apologetics conference in Virginia next month, where Nabeel, Mary Jo, Sam, Mike Licona, Tony Costa, Mark Mittelberg, and several others will be speaking. (I'll be debating an atheist at the end of the conference.) She can stay with a family while she's there, and I can cover her meals. But we need help covering her plane ticket and the registration fee. $400 will cover both. Let's support our sister! (Alternatively, if one of you has a bunch of frequent-flyer miles saved up, you could use them to get her ticket.)

If you missed Negeen's testimony when we posted it, here you go:

David and Nabeel,

I have benefited so greatly from all of your efforts (and all of it at no cost to me). I am happy to be able to give what little I can at this time. I plan on fasting and praying for the conference, and Negeen in particular. I figure, this way I can help cover the event in prayer and at the same time offset some of the effect on my monthly budget :-P (yes, I am being particularly practical on this).

Normally I avoid making public mention of charitable donations, and fasting, but I wish to encourage others to join me, and we are mostly pseudonymous on this blog anyway.

I have 2 questions:

1) When is the conference?
2) Anyone else want to join me in fasting and/or praying for the conference and Negeen?

Sepher of Shalom,

Please allow me to join you in you fasting and prayer. David sez March 13 and nothing stops us from starting the prayer right now. I am not so good at fasting but if you know how to structure it, I will be glad to follow along with you. Wanna post the prayers out somewhere or would they be better kept private? I have some friends in KY that understand about fasting and I will ask them to join us. THANK YOU for your service in this!

Sepher Shalom,
You have no displayed e-mail, but I wanted to comment that fasting is an excellent idea! I'll put up something about it on my blog very soon.

Tom,

Please do join me brother! Invite your friends as well. This will be great! I don't have a lot of experience in advising others to fast, outside of pointing to the relevant Bible verses when asked about the Scriptural position on the issue, so I will have to put my thoughts together on that. I usually set aside a good amount of prayer time the day before I begin the fast, and fast a day by the Biblical reckoning (sunset to sunset).

I think posting some prayers is a great idea. I will try to get a post up on my (meager and quasi-active) blog by Friday the 5th, Adonai willing.

Let's get the prayers rolling and trust in expectation that The Holy Spirit will move on the conference and in Negeen's life!

I'd talked to Negeen before over the phone and on email, but I just now watched her video. She's pretty funny and a good speaker - thanks for supporting her, everyone!

Hi David,

i just finished watching the debate between Dinesh Souza and John Loftus on the subject: Does the Christian God exist?.

John is one the worst debators i ever seen. He lacks the abillity to comprehend the points being made by his oponent . By doing so, he mostly attacks strawmen. I would advice you to watch the debate and reconsider debating him. I believe we just found the atheistic version of nadir Ahmed.

Dinesh compeletly 'owned' him. ( I am no dinesh fan btw)

Greetings Negeen:

I am glad you can make it.I hope you grow in the faith and keep on believing all your life. There are few who bother to try to convince Muslims, but at least answeringmuslims.com is trying. That is why I have recommended it to others. And I hope you enjoy your stay in the conference.

Tom, Letitia, and anyone else who would like to join in prayer and fasting for Negeen and conference, I have made this post with a suggested prayer to unify around. If anyone has any question, suggestions or additional prayers to add, please feel free to post them in the comments there.
