In response to a Muslim plot to assassinate one of the cartoonists who criticized Islam for being violent and intolerant, seventeen Danish newspapers have reprinted the cartoon. In an attempt to show that it is wrong to portray Islam as violent and intolerant, Muslims have responded by rioting and burning property.
